Bryan Singer Producing Capeshooters
July 22, 2008
Variety says that Warner Bros. has acquired Capeshooters, a comic book adaptation that will be produced by Bryan Singer's WB-based Bad Hat Harry production company. The project is based on Image Comics co-founder Rob Liefeld's upcoming comic.
Singer (X-Men, X2: X-Men United, Superman Returns) is interested in exploring the darker side of the subject. He will only be producer on the project. BHH's Alex Garcia will executive produce.
In Capeshooters, two slackers become paparazzi who specialize in shooting covert videos of superheroes find themselves on the run after they stumble onto evidence that a revered superhero is actually a villain.
J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani will write the script.

sounds interesting but he needs to get to work on a superman sequel.

this might just be his way of politely turning down a superman sequel, because he knows he sucked up the last one.

because Bryan Singer is attached, somehow this movie will become about homosexuality and tolerance.

Thank God he is not making another Superman movie...he really screwed that up...hopefully Mark Millar can get his hands on the franchise....re imagine Supes....Donner's series was good but not meant for today's fans...

WTF? If you change the word "super-hero" to just "man", then this sounds like the exact plot of every movie I've ever seen. Pineapple Express anyone?

Hmm, we don't have a time of day exactly but let it be known that July 22nd, 2008, we have yet another casualty to the pretentious force of nature known only as "Brian Singer", waining after it's latest trainwreck of Superman Returns but kept in tact due to the downpour of starving fanboys more than happy to eat dog crap from the palm of his hand
*sigh*
To Capeshooters, we didn't even get a chance to know you fairly before you died so suddenly, so arbitrarily.
Never even had a chance.

this does not mean that Singer is turning down the next Superman film. (But I hope that happens)
He's only producing. So no doubt that he will still direct the Superman sequel unless WB makes a statement that he will not be directing.
So no one get your hopes up just yet.

I think the idea of Superman having sucks and makes me sick. Too much drama and not enough Superman kicking ass.

Rob Liefeld and Bryan Singer. That is a match made in heaven. I really hope this project keeps Singer off of Superman. This project actually sounds more up his alley. Let him work through his "dark side of superheroes" on some random Liefeld characters, instead of f/ing up a classic character.

This could be cool, or it could be the next 'My Super Ex-Girlfriend'. Heroes as the backdrop to schmucks is a tough one. Having Rob (I love weird anatomy and can't draw feet) Liefeld developing the story is a little foreboding. His version of "dark" has always been really goofy-in-a-bad-way, in my opinion.
We'll see, I suppose. At least the Mark Millar version of Superman seems to be a plausible thing now.

Singer is still working on the Superman sequel. Shooting starts in the New Year. Believe it! The Mark Millar Superman thing is not, and will not be, happening!!

Haters talk about Brian Singer as if Superman Returns was the only film he did, it's so funny.

as long as he stays the *** away from another superman film

Brian Singer is good. He has done good movies. Even good coming movies. He doesn't get Superman and he should stay far away. This picture should be a good fit for him.

Boring news. We want Man of Steel...NOW!!

Singer is a washed up reject out of his depth, could not direct traffic.
Kick the looser to the kerb.
If Chris Nolan is finished with the Batman franchise, then let him REEBOOT Superman.
Bryan Singer go play with Uwe Boll & Joel Schumacher you looser

Chris Nolan is the best superhero director.
He should try out directing a Supes film sometime in the future.
Posted by: Blaster on July 23, 2008 at 09:34:13
As of now Singer IS making the sequel to Superman Returns...It's called The Man of Steel. But this can change. He is writing the script and casting parts.

They still let Rob Liefeld make comics?
Posted by: John on July 23, 2008 at 10:19:34
good let him direct this **** and leave superman alone
Posted by: Ender The Xenocide on July 23, 2008 at 11:05:38
Well, first off...this article makes no mention of Superman. All these threads are, are a way to totally rip on movies and the people that make them. I would have to say that NO ONE who posts here as any idea as to what it takes to make an actual movie, that's not to say you may not have read a book on the subject but I bet none of you can honestly that they have worked on a big budget movie so what gives you the right to rip on people who do? The bottom line is that Singer has and does know what it takes. I'm an electrician by trade, and if a plumber came onto my job and tried to tell me that I was wiring a light or receptacle wrong I'd tell him where to go. So every hater out there, get your heads out of your asses and just enjoy what gets made and save the opinions for people educated on such matters.
