Benderspink Picks Up ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction!
July 21, 2008
Benderspink has picked up the film rights to Red 5 Comics' recently released horror/action comic "ZMDs: Zombies of Mass Destruction" by Underworld writer-producer Kevin Grevioux. Here is how Red 5 Comics describes the title:
Air-dropped into the deadliest hot zones, the walking dead of "ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction" indiscriminately infect every last warring insurgent -- on either side of the conflict. Specifically engineered to be photosensitive, once enemy infection becomes complete by dawn, both the originals and newly created zombies dissolve as a means to control widespread and accidental zombification. This allows live soldiers to enter and safely occupy the now-combatant-free territory. However, this plan takes a deadly turn when one of the U.S. zombies, dubbed -- Zombie Zero -- fails to dissolve at the expected time, and begins to wreak havoc in the Middle East by creating others like him. This leads the U.S. military brass to send in a special operative to quietly take out Zombie Zero and his minions before their existence becomes known to the rest of the world.
The project was brought to the company by production coordinator Josh Feldman and will be produced by Benderspink.
Red 5 Comics was created by Paul Ens, former director of Lucasfilm's StarWars.com and Lucas Online, and Scott Chitwood, co-founder of TheForce.net and contributor to ComingSoon.net and SuperheroHype.com. The company, based in Calgary, Alberta, began publishing its first books in the fall. Its "Afterburn" recently was set up at Relativity with Tobey Maguire and Neal Moritz producing.

That's a pretty stupid way of getting rid of insurgents! Gasp! Who would have thought that dropping a $#!+ load of zombies into a war zone could go horribly wrong? What did George Bush draft this plan himself or what?

Kevin Grevioux, I always wondered what he was up to since Underworld. I still say that movie had a cool premise that could have been awesome in the hands of a non hack director.

WTF? Is this some kind of 'tard convention around here today?
Clearly, Not Dead Yet and Cementhead have been sitting at their keyboards all night, stroking themselves waiting for the opportunity to reveal their 'tardness in all of their glory. Congratulations, d-bags. Mission Accomplished. Just be sure to wipe down those keys.
Iron-Face, get a ****ing grip dude. Your failure to be first doesn't exclude you from the 'tard-fest. It only lets us mock you that much more.

Sounds like a fun concept, but I'm a bit jaded on zombies.

FIRST! damn, JUST missed it!
Oh well, I was going to leave a comment about the article but ***k it! If I can't be first then ***k it all!
All kidding aside, I agree with Batzarro. The zombie thing is a bit overdone... just like being the FIRST to comment.

I love horror flicks and I will always check out any zombie movies. I still have to watch Flight of the Living Dead, Zombie Strippers and Black Sheep. Some B movies are better than main stream movies, IMO.

You're completely right, Jorge. Overdone? What was I thinking?! Underdone is even an understatement.

The great thing about B-movies are the expectations they DON'T have to live up to. This sounds great. Looking forward to it.

Can't wait! I've always been a fan of the Zombie genre! Hell, I've even been trying to write my own Zombie story (still a work in progress). Gonna have to find this comic and pick it up.
