A 300 Follow-Up in the Works?
Source:Collider.com
June 26, 2008

Collider.com talked to producers Mark Canton, Gianni Nunnari and Bernie Goldmann, who revealed that they are working on a new Blu-ray Disc edition of 300 and... that they're trying to make a sequel/prequel! The first film's director Zack Snyder confirmed it and they said Frank Miller is working on a new story for the film. You can watch that video interview here!

The site also got a chance to talk to Guillermo del Toro, who said he'd like to do Hellboy 3 when he finishes the two "Hobbit" films. You can watch that interview here.

FIRST!

A follow up to 300 doesn't sound half bad actually

Posted by: ooo on June 26, 2008 at 03:51:24

Noooo!

Posted by: garousuke on June 26, 2008 at 03:53:20

why the hell would they do that. i could barely sit through the first one. just another way to make money by beating a dead horse. gone are the days of the one shot movie, written well enough that a sequel is not nessesary.

1st! Add Amens & Omens to your friends list! myspace.com/amensandomens

also I think that a prequel to 300 would be awesome!

God Damn You Jay! I wanted to be 1st!

BOGUS!

SO BOGUS.

Why cant they just leave it. Its perfect. All theyre gonna do is tarnish their reputations.

@garousuke

There's nothing wrong with a sequel if it continues a story or shows the evolution of a character. To say that any person's story should be told in one movie alone doesn't make any sense to me.

Seeing the ghost busters in two adventures was great fun. The star wars movies could never have told their story in one film. The evolution and trials of Peter Parker and Bruce Wayne and Banner and Stark surely warrant more than one movie.

While I'm curious to see how they plan on pulling off a sequel to 300, saying that movies should be done well enough so a sequel is not necessary is an extreme statement. I love following a character's arch and life through multiple movies, and i'm sure even you can agree with me on that one.

As for HB3... man that's not coming around for a good 7 or 8 years. Pearlman's going to be an old man. They may have to have Del Toro on as exec producer or creative adviser and hand it over to somebody else.

You know, I'd be interested in either a follow up or prequel to 300, if they can pull it off.
The thing is that I feel as though there are just some things that you just shouldn't touch.
Such as:

*A live action Simpsons movie
*A new set of actor calling themselves The Three Stooges
*A remake of It's A Wonderful Life or The Wizard Of Oz
*Rosie O'Donnell

I won't pass premature judgement, but I kind of want them to leave well enough alone. I am slightly intrigued, but iffy about it.
Hmmm?

---Later!

why would you... lol this is the worst idea i've heard of... haha.... dont get me wrong i enjoyed 300 but there is no sequel... it's a war movie... cant they think of anything else... soon they'll be another troy prequel/sequel....or Alexander.. lol... the funny thing is that they'll make there money and get you to see it if you like the first one... even if it's ****... haha... hollywood is starting to get worse and worse...

bad ideas floating around everywhere these days... what happened to original stories... and good scripts...

Bring it on.300 was a bad a_ _ movie.I cant wait to see the next one.

Posted by: Batmerengue on June 26, 2008 at 04:44:09

Damn them... I HATE HOLLYWOOD
this is bad news. If anything it better be a prequel.

Posted by: Madeye319 on June 26, 2008 at 04:58:21

Looks like most get it, certain movies need to stand alone, no prequels or sequels. The bad thing about sequels is they try to outdo the first movie but basically end up making the same movie just move things around a little. Then everyone comes on here & complains how it doesn't compare to the first one. Look at the Batman movies(the early ones) Superman movies, Matrix and so on.

Maybe to save time Hollywood should start combining ill advised sequels into single films Like Ocean's 301 where the Spartans must team with Brad Pitt and Bernie Mac to steal the Mona Lisa from ruthless casino boss Xerxes. Or perhaps 300 and 1 dalmatians in which Glenn Close is ripped apart in slow motion be a phalanx of ridiculously fit dalmatians. I would totally pay to see that.

301?

Posted by: nerd killer on June 26, 2008 at 06:13:35

300 was bad a-s-s! If y0u dont want to see a sequel then dont! shut your f-u-c-k-in-g mouth and stay home watching batman reruns bi-t-ches!

Posted by: grafdog on June 26, 2008 at 06:27:38

Great more propaganda from Miller and his zionist pals in hollywood. I wonder what it will be called... 299 or maybe 301 or maybe just 300 2.
Boycott miller and hollywood garbage in general.

Did you know that in the thousands of flicks made featuring a middle eastern character only 3 were portrayed as positive characters? That my friend is propaganda.
And to nerd killer, thats a nice potty mouth you got there, your mommy buy it for you?

Eh, how can they do a sequel to 300.Isn't the whole point of the story that its a comic artist version of true events that happened to a group of spartans back in ye olden days. Are they just gonna make up something now and pretend that the spartans survived, and King Leonidas jumped out of the way of all those arrows....he probably could if he really wanted too. Such a great movie. should be just left alone as a one off.

Posted by: neb on June 26, 2008 at 07:12:00

they my as well make a sequel to braveheart too and saving private ryan...

Posted by: Munchkin Supreme on June 26, 2008 at 07:21:18

The movie wasnt even true to the actual events. 300 Spartans true. 700 Volunteers? False
there were over 7000 soldiers there defending the pass. 300 of them were hardened Spartan soldiers and the rest slaves and conscripts. Leonidas stationed 1000 soldiers to guard the goat path that the persians exploited to out flank Leonidas. The wusses were there for 2 days and went home on thier own becasue they thought thier homes were getting attacked. this left the flank open and ultimately, ended the battle.

Don't get me wrong...300 was a kick ass movie...absolutley one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time. But it didnt match history at all.

Posted by: Jager on June 26, 2008 at 07:50:04

Well a sequel is fine by me as long as it stays on the historic events track. The battle of Platea was the next important battle where the greeks kicked some persian butt hard!.. This is the end scene of 300 movie anyway...
But this whould mean a new graphc novel from Frank Miller about this battle using the same blend of Historic-Fantasy

Posted by: James on June 26, 2008 at 08:22:32

Hmmm, strange - doesn't Hollywood do one-off single movies anymore, or does every film have to spawn a franchise? I say leave it, they told the story of the 300 Spartans (whats left?), now move on...

Posted by: Clint Eastwood on June 26, 2008 at 08:29:49

I WANT MORE HULK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: TommyTheGun on June 26, 2008 at 08:31:01

if Miller and Snyder are in, I am in too!!!

LMAO

300 sequel doesn't sound totally ridiculous. Miller could just pick some other battle of that era to stylize--^^^^whoever said it should stay within historic events is 100% right. I doubt they would invent a prequel story about Leonidas/any of the other Spartans. The biggest hurdle may be to FIND another actor who can shout and play a badass as well as Gerard Butler.
