Spider-Man 4 & 5 to be Shot at the Same Time?
May 16, 2008
Cinematical has received an unconfirmed scoop saying that Zodiac screenwriter James Vanderbilt has turned in a working draft for Spider-Man 4 to Sony Pictures.
The really interesting thing, however, is that they say his story arc encompasses two films, opening up the possiblity that the studio might shoot the fourth and fifth film at the same time!
If this is indeed accurate, we'll have to see if director Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire, and others will return for the two films.

**** sam raimi and tobey maguire. raimi ****ed up 3 and doesn't deserve to make a fourth or ever agian. tobey maguire was always a bad choice. no quick everybody disagree with me.

WHY!? Spider-Man 3 sucked! It destroyed the franchise in my opinion. They didn't do Harry Osborn any justice, Harry's Green Goblin, Eddie Brock, & Venom either! They screwed the whole film. That's what happens when you let Hollywood take over production. Now since Marvel is handling that now ie IRON MAN which is the best Marvel film ever made I hope Spider-Man 4&5 are way better than the 3rd!

Agreed, I hope its a reinventing with a younger caste and a director that plays it to be a more serious movie. Maybe something off Bendis' arcs.

I would like to see the "Kraven's Last Hunt" story line. That could be good.

I want fresh blood...out with Raimi and Maguire, they suck. I mean, spider-man 2 was good, but that's it. The 3rd one was HORRIBLE.
They need to rethink the whole franchise...
but we all know we're looking a new Batman and Robin here...its 1997 all over again

ultimatekelly: Right on sir. Raimi may well love the franchise, but his continued bastardising of stories and characters (Harry - wasted opportunity, Doc Ock - same, Venom - WTF?) just made the first one the only film worth watching. Besides, I never thought Peter Parker was meant to have downs-syndrome until Maguire had a crack at him. We need a new parker and a new director. I don't care if they film 2,3 or 4 back to back, just get them away from the franchise.

I wouldn't say that Rami F****d up the 3rd one. The writing for it was terrible, and the sound score was crap. I'm a huge Web head Fan and I still loved certain aspects of it, but you also have to remember it was aimed for kids, and young teens. That's what the target audience was. I loved seeing Venom, and hopefully that isn't the last.
I hope they all come back for a fourth, and if they didn't they should revamp the series, otherwise no one would want to see all different characters try to take on a big film. Just stick to the basics like they did with the 1st and 2nd, and everyone will love it.

Just so long as Peter doesn't start club dancing out in front of any clothing stores and doing his hair in a neo-goth/emo-kid way...
...that and some good stories. I wish Hollywood would pay attention to movies like Iron Man where they get this comic stuff right moreso than other comic based flicks.
---Later!

Start the pre-production already. I want to some leaked concept art!!!

Part 3 wasn't that bad... it was just way too long. If anything, Raimi needs to go back and do a Directors Cut. Just cut 30 minutes from the film. Scenes like the stupid dance could definitley be cut. That would make a lot of people happy.

I think they should have used Jake Gyllenhaal from the beginning. It could still be doable but I agree they need to have a fresh start. And bring on the Carnage. They should also get Favreau to direct or Speilberg.

they should take a different approach, like they did with the batman animated movies, where spider-man's older (which would be a reasonable excuse to cast someone new) and is contemplating not being spider-man anymore and then something happens and blah blah blah.
anyways I agree with the rest of you when you say spider-man 3 kinda ruined it.

i completely agree. and add in the lizard finally. that would be amazing. I also think they could completely start over, with a new director, new mary jane, new peter parker and i would be ok with it. i really did enjoy what they did so far, but i think i would like to see something fresh also. And i would love to see someone beside Dunst (GAG!) as mary jane.

I don't think Rami should to the blame soley. From what I heard, he had a tremendous about of pressure from the studio to incorporate Venom. Rami hates Venom as a character.
As far as starting fresh? Too early IMO. The thing that sucks is I wish we could go back and have Topher play Spiderman from the start. Too late for that. I've always thought Toby is such a wooden actor. He has absolutely no emotion behind his voice in anything.

In my opinion SM3 was a great movie as far as hollywood standards are concern but the movie did lack the more in depth look at Venom's character (which me and all my friends paid to see). The story focused more on the sandman which is a great character but if that screen time went to Venom and how cool he was when Brock first got the powers causing choas in the city. I think its too late in the series to revamp but I believe Raimi and Maguire still have a chance, they just have to let marvel and the fans play a big role, but the question remains is how much damage has the 3rd movie done ?

Sounds like more Spider-Tears and man hugging to me, but I'll keep an open mind and try to forget the farce that was supposed to be a third installment.

Why not just leave Spiderman and move on to Spiderwoman!!! Jessica Drew rocks!! lol

I love Spidey, Raimi did his thing, TIME FOR NEW BLOOD, NEW CAST, AND NEW DIRECTION!

Spiderman 2 is one of my all time favorites. That being said 3 was god awful and Rami needs to step away and let somebody give it a more mature look. And if I see Tobey Mcguire in the costume one more time I will be so depressed I'll accept Wanted as a movie.
Posted by: shroud on May 16, 2008 at 13:01:24
the third one was dissipointing, but thats what hapens when you force someone to cram venom up every ones ass. I don't blame rami as much as producers and fans to stupid to reilize venom is cool but let a man work.
venom ruined it, well that and the green snowboarder.
and people who don't like maguire, dont wat peter parker they don't want geeky peter parkerhey want prety boy jack ass parker. even comic artist and writers have screwed that one up over the years. hell mabey thats why fans expect it. but thats as stupid as peter parker dancing

The Whole Spidey Franchise up to this point Sucked, as did the whole X-men Franchise.
Unless the redo it from the ground up, they'll continue to suck..
They need the Hulk Makeover Treatment... New Cast, New director, new ideas...
