Six Flags Great Adventure announced the grand opening of The Dark Knight coaster today. You can watch a video of the coaster here and the press release follows:
Six Flags Great Adventure today unveiled the highly anticipated "THE DARK KNIGHT Coaster." Based on Warner Bros. Pictures' upcoming movie THE DARK KNIGHT, the indoor, dark coaster offers guests a one-of-kind ride experience.
More than just a ride, THE DARK KNIGHT Coaster features the most world renowned DC Comics characters in an adventure that utilizes storytelling, physical movement, video, sound and special effects to bring guests a one-of-a-kind dark ride thrill. As part of the experience, park guests will see, hear and feel the action of the movie the moment they enter the ride queue line, as they are transformed into citizens of Gotham City — caught in the middle of a city under siege and torn apart by The Joker.
Guests board a Gotham City rail car and careen through six 180-degree hairpin turns, climb unseen hills, plunge into pitch darkness, dip into unforeseen danger and continue to be tormented by The Joker as they thrust onto the battlefield of good vs. evil. Will THE DARK KNIGHT save them in time?
"THE DARK KNIGHT Coaster offers guests a one-of-a-kind ride experience that combines the action and excitement of THE DARK KNIGHT movie with the thrill of a roller coaster," said Mark Kane, Six Flags Great Adventure's Park President. "THE DARK KNIGHT Coaster offers a unique experience that will appeal to both family and teen audiences."
The attraction also introduces new, customized footage featuring District Attorney Harvey Dent (as portrayed by Aaron Eckhart), produced and shot specifically for THE DARK KNIGHT Coaster. The ride also incorporates audio and visual elements from the film which will debut July 18, 2008, offering guests a sneak peak.
The $7.5 million coaster is located in the Movietown section at Six Flags Great Adventure adjacent to BATMAN The Ride. The height restriction is 42 inches to ride with an adult and 48 inches to ride alone. Guests can receive up-to-the-minute park news and purchase a 2008 season pass online at www.sixflags.com.

Six Flags Great Adventure is located in Jersey. I can't wait to go. :)

Yup. Great Adventure is in New Jersey. Finally, there's a new superhero ride there now that Batman & Robin: The Chiller's been removed. That thing used to beat my head against the headrest.

haha, i only do it to make people like you made Kill All Firsters! It's so funny to think that typing 5 little letters can make you angry enough to waste time leaving a comment towards me, which only fuels "firsters" even more. LOLOLOLOLOLOL

They should come up with a 3-D adventure ride, like the Spider-Man ride at Islands of Adventure, where you're speeding around Gotham in the Tumbler, jumping across rooftops and chasing Ra's Al Ghul, Scarecrow, Two-Face and The Joker. You start off in the Batcave, then hit the streets of the city. And once you catch all the villains, you take them back to Arkham. That would destroy any run-of-the-mill roller coaster ride.

the spiderman ride at islands of adventure is freaking awesome

it's also opening at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee Mills, IL. It's in between Milwaukee and Chicago.

Hey!!! Guys, I have been to 4 different Six Flags theme parks, Six Flags Astroworld in Houston, Texas now a deceased, theme park because of an idiot's mis-money managing of the parks endorsements. I have been to Six Flags, Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, Texas and my favorite rides out there are The Rattler and Superman Kryton Coaster both, are the tallest rides out there awesome. Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Texas right outside of Dallas city limits has The Texas Giant and Mr. Freeze 2 of my favorites here and both are awesome roller coasters. Mr. Freeze here I already knew, was better than Batman and Robin The Chiller it was a waste of time and money to ride better ride Mr. Freeze in Arlington. I have also, visited, Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California outside od Los Angeles and that park has to be the nation's best Six Flags Theme Park with X, The Viper, Colossus, Great American Revolution and my all time favorite The Riddler's Revenge took my breath away when I rode it awesome man. Now, you guys mentioned, Spiderman The Ride man, that is one of top 2 favorites at Universal Studios:Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida with The Incredible Hulk Roller Coaster man I want to visit Orlando, Florida and Los Angeles, California again. I plan to move to LA permanently in the future to make it easier to do my acting career. I want to be a positive example to the generations before me, with me and after me. The Dark Knight ride they built at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jerst right outside of New York City will be way cooler and way more awesome than Batman and Robin The Chiller what were they thinking building that sorry ride. Batman one of my 3 most popular and favorite DC characters next to Superman and Wonder Woman. leading the way on the same level is Supergirl, Batgirl, Catwoman and Powergirl as DC's 5 most popular girls. For, the males Superman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter as the 5 most popular. I am going to check out The Dark Knight on video and I'm pretty sure I will like, the ride I am looking forward to the feature film in July this year and Heath Ledger will blow me away as The Joker.
Take Care Dark Knight fans!!! Are you guys looking forward to seeing Brandon Routh as Superman The Man of Steel in 2010 fight Braniac and Metallo and Lex Luthor again I am. Superman The Man of Steel will top Superman Returns in 2006, it will be more Superman action with him fighting to save himself and humanity from an old enemy on Krypton.

looks lame.
i'm going to sit in a dark room with a flashlight and turn it on and off again pointed to a pic of the joker and save myself the time.
also, nice try with the brutal actors telling how great the ride is. scripted, anyone?
seriously that's crap.

Just watched the video on the official website for the rollercoaster and that looks so lame it is unbelieveable.
How can it be for kids and the whole family and then is meant to be for thrill seekers.
Don't even get me started on the customer endorsements at the end which look like they were paid for or memebers of the parks families.
Just another Happy Meal tie in by the big corporations who ruin films.

so much for the "unforeseen" dangers.

THAT VIDEO WAS SO ****ING STUPID
Posted by: oltimehockey19 on May 15, 2008 at 16:44:12
Ride looks awful. I wish six flags was more proffessionally themed like any park in orlando, esspecially islands of adeventure. If you are looking for a superhero ride, go on spiderman. Indoor roller coaster with thrills? Ride the Mummy's Revenge. I wish this looked great, but it looks ever so dull. Movie will still rock though.
