Hellboy II Secret Device Prize to be Announced
Source:Superhero Hype!
May 14, 2008
In the coming days, Universal Pictures will officially announce the grand prize for the Hellboy II: The Golden Army alternate reality game (ARG) known as TheSecretDevice.com and we've got a first look at a new teaser in the form of a poem that continues an already month-long dialogue with the game's players.
Via Hetfet.org, another significant tendril of this alternate universe, players can actually sign a real petition that urges our government to Stop Old Growth Logging - seamlessly tying into the overarching story as way to help save the "mystical creatures" of our planet. Several players have also received unique gifts for their loyalty to the Hetfet.org cause.
Guillermo del Toro's "Hellboy II" opens in theaters on July 11th.

the other link from the site is lexilloyd.com but I am still working on figuring out how the blog fits in. However, I think after the complexity of TDK's viral campaign, this is probably extremely simple and I am just overlooking it.

sometimes think these internet campaigns are pretty pointless and kinda off putting, just wanna c the damn movie already
Posted by: Hellboy on May 14, 2008 at 14:02:15
cranno10, i'm totally with you. same with TDK. too much stuff... give me the movie!

Cool advertising gimmick but no interest in participating. Might watch the movie when it comes out in July.

"The Secret Device" solved:
If you rotate the three circles around the jewels will light up if you get to the right combination. The code is 7-11-8 (the release date of the movie). If you get the code right it will direct to a page with several light up letters out of a few sentences. The light letters spell out two websites:
lexilloyd.com - a Blog
hetfet.org

Yeeeeah. Not really.
There are several more codes, dutchfeline videos and websites to discover.

lol it sounds like a clue to a trip for two to Vegas... flashing lights and winning, etc.

"Bull and Demon destiny"
bull = dell toro as in guillermo and demon = hellboy. destiny = premiere?
two people win a trip to the premiere

Just for the record, this campaign is awesome and I'm not even into viral marketing (as in following along with them). The game has actually reached much further than the first clue, it's actually up to about the fifth, so SHH needs to play catch up, or anyone here who's interested had best get started now.

If anyone wants to catch up...go to The Secret Device's youtube channel.
youtube.com/thesecretdevice.
All the vids w/Clues in them are there in one place.

This smells like the same thing that they are doing with Dark Knight campaign.
boring... try something new on us.

Well Redd you obviously haven't even bothered to check it out since you made an ignorant statement like that. It's actually a hell of a lot more in depth than TDK's viral campaign and worth doing, but since you insist on being a hater, carry on and enjoy life in your mom's basement.
It also requires a bit of brainpower as well, so you really should probably stay as far away as possible....

snikka snikka, dude i know its the most effective and cheapest way to advertise but come on think aboutit, the majority of people that will do all **** required for these things are already fans who will already pay the money to go see the movie, all i was sayin that too much of something can put u off!

If it worked for The Dark Knight... well, lets all do it!!!... this and a Wanted viral site... really? I know The Dark Knight wasnt the first to pull off a viral campaign but so far it has been the most succesful. The others are just riding on the coat tails.
