almost I guess, anyways I guess this is a good idea for the studio to do this to promote people, maybe get them over the edge to view the movie.

if I go see this film it will be to see Christina Ricci on screen.

Other then that... the 7min clip sorta left me with thoughts of "think I'll wait for the dvd to rent"

I donno this 7min clip just didnt seem to exciting. Very colorful tho gotta admit it had lots and lots of colors. Kinda reminded me of looking thru a kalidascope.

I was at the UK Premiere for this film. Its absolutely awesome, Speed Racer fans will not be disappointed.

looks like puke art

The trailer just does nothing for me, looks like an advert for Wipout or some other racer.

Looks like this will be another failure for the Wachowski Bros, well at least The Matrix was good.

Also any film with John Goodman in has to be rubbish.

Posted by: son of dorel on May 8, 2008 at 17:34:13

and on a further note, the wachowskis need to be taken off of this pedastal that all of you matrix fns have put them on. yeah, that was a decent series with a great first movie. but now, everything they put out is **** and there is no reason to believe that this is any different. all im saying is you need to do a heavy amount of drugs at least a half hour before hand, just to get ANY enjoyment out of this visual techno song with wheels. and racer x blows balls

I didn't even bother wit the 7 minutes. The trailer was enuff to make me not see this.Blech.

If you don't like Speed Racer, then don't see the movie.

Posted by: Nando on May 8, 2008 at 17:43:08

awsome

Posted by: spida-man on May 8, 2008 at 17:52:46

ahhh who cares wha the nay-sayers think, this looks pretty good, and i know speed racer fans won't be let down. and so waht if the W brothers are being hyped up alot, matrix was pretty good and ppl should give speed racer a chance. just because it looks kiddy or is rated PG does't mean the movie is terrible.

ewwwwwwww, when he leaves the school i almost puked.. whats the point of making it a live action motion picture if they're just going to make it look like a cartoon??

Posted by: SmokinBandit on May 8, 2008 at 17:58:33

Allright, i've been sceptical about this since I first heard about it. But this little 7 min clip actually got me a little excited. I will say all I really want to see is more of the Mach 5 in action, the acting im not really worried about. So yeah, I might actually shill out the $5 to go see this tommrow.

Im pretty sure most of the negative remarks come from those who didnot grow up with Speedracer. Mostly youngsters.

go iron man go oops I mean speed racer

Get me some acid.

Posted by: yupyup on May 8, 2008 at 18:23:19

regardless of what people think about this movie...the wachowskis did what they had in mind and that is to make a movie for their nephews and nieces...i think they did it...seeing the trailers and clips are entertaining...i´ll go see the rest of it tomorrow...

Posted by: Nova Prime on May 8, 2008 at 18:26:28

This looks bad.

I saw the anime as a kid, but the movie just seems to cartoonish. They should have taken a page from Transformers and try to make it more realistic. The acting is allright after seeing the first seven minutes, but the backgrouds just brings the overall movie down. Ifanything ill wait for the dvd, but I wont be rushing to rent it or buy it anytime soon. Looks like another failure for the Wachowski Siblings'

Guess Iron Man will be #1 for another week!

Posted by: DrFrommeyer on May 8, 2008 at 18:35:49

Oof - What a waste of production dollars. When movies like this do well it encourages execs to continue funding movies in the Batman & Robin vein...

Posted by: Hellboy on May 8, 2008 at 18:41:44

yeah, i'll wait for the dvd...

or if i do go see it in the theater, it'll be for the same reason Timevacume stated... to see Christina Ricci.
