Source:Retroman, A1ant
May 6, 2008
Scooper 'Retroman' posted on the Superhero Hype! message boards a discovery that an agency has Australian actor Tim Pocock listed as playing Scott Summers (Cyclops) in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
'A1ant' then followed-up with the agency who confirmed the casting. "Yes, that information is correct. He was cast as the younger Scott Summers," they said.
Directed by Gavin Hood, the May 1, 2009 Fox release stars Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Kitsch, Will.i.am, Danny Huston, Dominic Monaghan, Daniel Henney and Lynn Collins.

FIRST! Very Cool! I wonder how they're planning on fitting him into Wolverine's Origin.
Posted by: What's On Your Screen on May 7, 2008 at 00:19:06

Cramming as many mutant cameo's as possible into one movie? X-Men 3 anyone?
Posted by: Jeff on May 7, 2008 at 00:23:35
Awesome beyond reason. Cyclops is the man, despite what the movies portrayed.

probly runs into like a teenage cyke at some point

WTF?!!! Logan is way older than Scott. PLEASE movie makers listen and hear... 129 minutes of PURE wolverine myth = EXCELLENT!!!!! However 128 cameos by mutants that in no way support the story = ABANDON SHIP!!!!!! For the love of God don't let this moviw suck. Iron man proves that Marvel can make box office gold. Do Not let this be as lousy as x3!.....Possibly tent like I give a poop!!!

i dont know about this. if cyclops is gonna be in this, this dude better me young or else these guys may have screwed up. Cyclops played no part in x-mens origins...that i know of (and i think i know)
Posted by: jeff on May 7, 2008 at 01:14:53
I don't know.. if I ever ran into somebody like Wolverine when I was younger, I sure as hell would remember when I was a little older. In the x-men movies, Scott didn't seem so old as it was, now their trying to put him in wolverines origin? Sounds like this movie is going to be too cluttered with mutants wolverine isn't going to know whether to wind his a$$ or scratch his watch.

Richard Donnor is reshooting all the action scenes, as apparently they sucked! Doesn't bode well for the film, unfortunately.

there was nothing wrong with x-men: the last stand, if it was so bad how come its one of the highest ranking movies to ever come out in may alongside spider-man,spider-man 3 and ironman.not all comic book fans hated it I loved it, so much that after seeing it i went and bought the dark phoenix saga which is the best x-men story ever. looking forward to x-men origins: wolverine next may another exciting may to look forward to as a comic book fan.

Amen, Jeff. There's a reason Cyclops has always appeared in every incarnation of the X-Men and the writers of the first three films didn't want to take the time to figure it out and used the "audience can't see his eyes" excuse. Man, I wish Whedon was writing for Cyke.
Anyway, are they going to give Cyke the shaft in this one, too? A hundred buck says they will.

This movie will fail b/c Henry Rollins was never cast as Wolverine.
Okay, seriously, Marvel should refrain from the 1,001 cameo apperances... it will assuredly weigh-down the story.

I am actually overwhelmed by this news... I am a huge X-Men fan. And I love Cyclops. Now I know that this is a little unnerving to a lot of you but lets give the producers, director, and the writers a chance here... We don't know the details... As far as we know, this actor could be a little kid..?? Cyclops (to me) is the poster child for the X-Men and even though the previous writers truly did give him the shaft in the other movies... No X-men movie would be true without him. Yes I agree they will probably give him the shaft in Wolverine too but I am grateful to hear that he will in fact be apart of the film. Maybe he'll be at the end of the movie with some of the other X-men characters in a more modern sense???

This just doesn't make any sense. I can understand Wolverine not remembering his past, but if he meets up with a young Scott Summers, wouldn't Scott have said something about it in one of the earlier movies? "Wait, I think I know this guy..." lol

I'm hoping Cyke's role in this film will lead into the 'Young X-Men' spin-off. Apparently, that's a prequel, so maybe they will introduce him in Wolverine and he (and Gambit) will be apart of the new film.
Folks on the board mentioned Stryker once brought his son to Professor X, so maybe it'll all tie-in together? IDK...just guessing.

Yeah, I'll give the producers, writers, and director a chance...at the rental counter. I hate Wolverine and I hate how they made him the star in the other movies. Why didn't they just do like this new cartoon and name those movies "Wolverine and the X-Men"?
Posted by: Vex on May 7, 2008 at 01:53:41
Well, assuming Cyclops is a kid (which would make sense)it could be pre-accident when he meets Wolverine. The reason Cyclops can't control is optic blasts is due to a head injury he suffered when he was a kid. They could also play up the head injury in not remembering a lot before his accident including not remembering Wolverine later on.
Also just because a mutant is cast in the film doesn't mean they will co-star or even have any on screen dialog. They could very well just walk by the screen or be in the background. All we can do is wait and see what they do with it.

I think it would be cool if at some point Wolverine/Logan would wear the classic Wolverine mask. I think we're all so used to seeing him in the movies without it that we've come to just accept it. I for one would like to see the mask . . . even if only just for a few seconds.
What do you think???

I'd read years ago when John Byrne was doing the x-men that the idea of having Captain America team up with the x-men had been discussed, and when he saw wolverine without his headgear on, he was to say "Colonel Logan? Is that YOU!?" Giving hint to logans true age since the only other time CAP would've seen Col. Logan was during WW2!!! BUt I guess that never came to pass. Too bad.

@ "Comic Fans"
You're must be one of the people who thinks because a film makes money it's automatically good. X3 made a lot of money because of the precedent that the previous two films helmed by Bryan Singer set up. The only reason Ratner's film was successful at the box office, the only reason a third film was made in the first place was because of Singer's work and success.
And yes, X3 butchered the franchise for even non-comic book fans, but rather just fans of the first two films and the simple continuity and storytelling that they seemed inept to follow.
