Christina Ricci on Speed Racer Sequel

Christina Ricci, who plays Trixie, Speed's loyal and ultra cool girlfriend in Speed Racer, is excited about the possibility of a sequel to the Warner Bros. film and working again with the groundbreaking Wachowski Brothers.

ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype! talked to the star at the Long Beach Grand Prix recently about what she would like to see her character do the next time around.

"I would like her to do more action-y things because I had fun being out there. That was fun stuff," she told us.

Ricci raved about working with the brothers and laughed about how the cast begged them to start working on another "Speed Racer" movie as soon as they wrapped.

"Larry and Andy created a world that they love and created characters that they loved and are attached to. When we were all leaving, we were like 'write the sequel!' 'We want to come back'. And they were like, 'I know. I know. We're going to. Don't worry'. They were as sad for it to be over as we were."

When asked if she thought the Wachowskis would jump right back into another film she excitedly told us yes!

"Yeah, definitely. Yes, that's definitely the impression I got."

As far as how many sequels she's signed on for, Ricci was rather coy about that.

"I don't know. You don't have to sign up for them. It's more like if this movie does well, they'll make another one. But, I'm not really sure. I don't pay attention to that stuff."

Speed Racer opens on May 9, and you can now check out the official music video with the theme performed by Ali Dee and the Deekompressors here!

She has the face for perfect roles. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Sleepy Hollow, The Addams Family and Pecker. I'm still "up in the air" with Speed Racer.

Ricci is great. But I still really think they should have went with Meryl Streep or Glenn Close. I still haven't seen a role these two female actors could not portray.

LOL! Rhodes Owns Stark, are you serious?

Are you sure the size change wasn't from Mach 5 to Mach 6? Judging from the film clips recently revealed, both exist- maybe it was 2 different cars of different sizes. Just a thought.

Posted by: speedracer216 on April 26, 2008 at 08:45:37

from what i've heard the Mach 6 is like the arena car while the mach 5 is for cross-country or open driving.

i still hate the mach 6 though.

Warshowski Brothers wrote this been a while since they written anything, after they didn't create the Matrix hopfully this movie will do well.

1 million dollars to anyone who can decipher what Mantronix wrote.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think this movie looks completely ridiculous?

Posted by: redwing1 on April 26, 2008 at 09:38:58

if any of you have seen the tv show, you would know that the mach 5 wasn't the only car he drove. he drove an indy style car, he raced in cars that weren't his. it's like in war, the right weapon for the right job. he can't use the mach 5 for every race. would you use a nascar car for the indy 500? think people, don't be stupid.

as for miss ricci, i think she fits the role perfectly. if you think the movie will fail, then don't go see it. but quit your *****in' about it before it's even come out

I wish I could claim that million, but I can't figure out most of the gibberish posted in these comments.

After seeing that video, I have lost all interest to see this film. Ricci's ass be damned.

LOL! I think it means...maybe it...oh, forget it. I think my IQ just dropped from reading that.

Actually, I think you would use a NASCAR to race in the Indy 500. Because it's an oval race event, not a series.

Speedracer looks too green screen. Too much kills a movie, like Lucas' second trilogy. A DVD rental at best, if there is nothing else to rent.

Posted by: redwing1 on April 26, 2008 at 14:40:28

well, ShortRound, yes it is an oval track. but the indy races use a different type of car that's not restricted, move a little quicker, and can be a little more deadly. and indy racing IS a series. it falls under the F1 series. do a little research

I never saw Speedracer and I'm sure that anyone who knows nothing about it isn't going to want to go see it. It looks ridiculous and utterly stupid. The lead character seems plenty lame. I'm not at all impressed by anything in this movie whatsoever. I'm curious to know what the budget is on this film. Anyone got any info? Boxofficemojo doesn't usually post that info until it's been in theatres for a few weeks and even then its iffy. I'm guessing it'll make a good chunk of money in the box office, but I'm not convinced that it will make it's money back, at least not until I find out the budget. :/

This movie is going to make me feel like a kid again and I can no wait. Great picks for all the roles... Especially Emile and Ricci... Looks like a fun time at the movies

Posted by: ShortRound on April 26, 2008 at 16:49:02

Hah,"redwing1" you make me laugh. No the Indy 500 is short for the Indianapolis 500, a.k.a "the brickyard" (as the rednecks call it) and it's an event that you would drive a NASCAR car on. I didn't say that Indy wasn't a series, I said that Indy 500 wasn't a series, it's a racing event. I know what an Indy car is, I don't need to do my research. You might though if you think it falls under Formula 1 simply because it's an open wheeled car. It's a different animal, just ask Bourdais.

Since when is Speed Racer a superhero?

Posted by: Slider13 on April 26, 2008 at 22:52:04

I sure hope Trixie gives us some of that panty wearing, left on the side of the road after a hard night of scratching that special itch of hers action we got from her last flick. Go Speed Go !!!

Posted by: Chili Palmer on April 27, 2008 at 01:26:45

Actually, Short Round, I believe the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard and the Indy 500 are two different things. Allstate 400 is NASCAR and Indy 500 is IndyCar. I hate that I know that.

Posted by: Dragoon70 on April 27, 2008 at 02:17:11

Well, Short Round, I have to agree with both redwing1 and Chili Palmer. The Indy 500 IS an open-wheeled event, but it is part of a series for Indy style autos. The Brickyard as it is called mainly relates to NASCAR. Formula 1 autos can be open-wheeled, as well, just using different specs for the engine and such. Bottom line, you MAY need to do a little more research on the matter.

Man, I wish the Wachowskis were the ones directing/producing the Dragonball film(s). I'm also not sure if Speed Racer will be a superb hit to me, but I am very positive that they were positively passionate about bringing the characters back to life as true to the original source as possible (from what I've seen thus far that is.)

This is going to be a HUGE hit; especially amongst kids and nostalgic adults. I can't wait!
