The Dark Knight Viral Countdown is On!
Source:Josh
April 25, 2008

'Josh' sent us this great update about The Dark Knight viral campaign:

WhySoSerious.com/ItsAllPartofthePlan has been updated!

You can click on the picture of each historical figure to clearly display the name of a city and you get a countdown clock (similar to a doomsday style countdown for a bomb timer, etc.)

The information for each portrait is:

Boston - Benjamin Franklin ($100 bill)
Los Angeles - Dwight D Eisenhower ($1 coin, issued from 1971 - 1978)
Philadelphia - Thomas Jefferson ($2 bill;nickel)
Chicago - Andrew Jackson ($20 bill)
Dallas - Grover Cleveland ($1000 bill)
Seattle - James Madison ($5000 bill)
New York - Abraham Lincoln ($5 bill; penny)
Kansas City - George Washington $1 bill; quarter)
Toronto - John F Kennedy (Half dollar coin)
San Francisco - Ulysses Grant ($50 bill)
London - Woodrow Wilson ($100,000 bill)
Sao Paulo - Alexander Hamilton ($10 bill

This is the currency info each person is linked to, so something may be going down at a bank, etc. when the countdown expires, maybe a location or other instructions will be posted!

The countdowns expire on Monday, April 28th and the countdown pages read:

Gather with 300 of your closest friends at this exact spot on April 28th.

You'll need to be in contact with a partner-in-crime who has online access to relay your instructions once you're there. These instructions will give you the TRAIL to follow, but be sure to look both ways when crossing the street; we wouldn't want you to make an unscheduled visit to the ER now, would we?

Put on a smile and plan to spend about an hour or so bonding with your fellow clowns.

Check back here often for updates or changes.

Did you catch that? TRAIL and ER... yeah, we thought you'd like that!

FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, to the business at hand.

When you open on of the president frames, it shows the fame, the city, and the coordinates for when the event will start. It also has a set of instructions, that go like this...

"Gather with 300 of your closest friends at this exact spot on April 28th.

Check back here often for updates or changes."

Note the capitalized "TRAIL" and "ER." I wonder what we will be getting out of this...

there's a coordinate below the countdown. if you click it, it will link to googlemap and show you the place to gather.

In LA it will the hollywood and highland.

What is this Trailer you speak of? /JK I really need the new trailer now, I've pretty much recited every line from the previous one after watching it every single day at work. GIVE ME THE DAMN TRAILER NOW!!!!

Posted by: bubba316 on April 26, 2008 at 01:15:31

seattle, here we come!

Posted by: webz on April 26, 2008 at 01:16:47

this "viral campaign" is stupid. Why not just release the damn commercial already? Why all the run around for the fat couch potatoes that have no life but to be batman nerds? Seriously, all this does is stamp "Loser" on a bunch of slobs.

I'm interested in seeing the movie, not all this marketing crap. If I wanted cheap marketing ploys, I'd pay attention to the Obama/Clinton fight.

OPERATION CHAOS RULES!

WTF 300 friends!!!!

i barely got 145 friends on myspace lmao!!!!!

imma just wait till they post it on youtube lol

Posted by: MrJoeKerr on April 26, 2008 at 01:34:50

Projecting your own image onto others there webz?

That's cool, but I won't be taking part in this one. I can't wait for the trailer though. And yeah, there are 1k and 5k dollar bills. Used between banks, they're not really public I think.

I've already seen the trailer at NY Comic Con, but i love this viral marketing ****. I will definitely be at bryant park in NY of monday

Posted by: Dante Payne on April 26, 2008 at 01:55:16

Look I hate 2 rain on the parade but c'mon people this viral marketing is a clever buzz-generator but some of u have no lives for participating in it 2 THESE extremes. What's that? U want me 2 rally up sum folk & hang around a bank? How bout I just check my local iternet connection for the new trailer when it arrives, instead of wasting time and money (gas prices y'all) for a treasure hunt w/ an unknown treasure.

Posted by: will on April 26, 2008 at 02:07:39

Well, maybe they want the "fat couch potatoes" to lose some weight. You know America does have the highest obesity rate in the world.

Posted by: will on April 26, 2008 at 02:13:49

The google map thing is kind of creepy when you go into the street view. Maybe it's just me.

Posted by: aawesome on April 26, 2008 at 02:14:10

I visited the wiki for this ARG, I never realized how comprehensive it actually was and how much we accomplished over the past year. BEST MARKETING CAMPAIGN....EVER!

Posted by: Detroit Sucks on April 26, 2008 at 02:24:12

Posted by: Ivan Mercado on April 26, 2008 at 02:34:07

I'll Be Sooooo,....There!!!! But,....One Big Question??! We All Have Little Bit Of A Thing Called,...."LIFE"! In This Life, Everything Is Based On Time. So, What Time Are We Suppose To Gather, With "300" Of My Closet Friends? Am Or Pm,...You Know??!

Posted by: steve on April 26, 2008 at 02:43:36
