Ok so this movie doesn't look too impressive. Just effects effects and more effects...

as if effects, effects, and more effects = less impressive. most of the movies coming out this summer are filled with effects. look at Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, and Hellboy 2.

This Movie Will Be Great!!

So that last scene is basically the end of the movie? Has to be since Matthew Fox has his mask off.

This movie is going to be a lot cooler than people think. If it's not too cheesy it may even be a great film. I'm adding it to my list of must-see films.

It looks better than i expected it to. Not too cheesy ^.^
Mathew Fox worked 2 months on his distinctive voice and i think he did a good job. Cant wait

I really trust the Wachowski Bros. on this one. I meanm they did a pretty good job with cgi in the Matrix with the battle of Zion. The cast in this movie is a little wild though. John Goodman, Susan Sarandon, Christina Ricci, Matthew Fox and Emile Hirsch. Some unknowns would have been good to be cast in the film. And Joel Silver is the Producer. Its going to have some competition as well with its release with Iron Man

Though I am only slightly familiar with it, I was never a Speed Racer fan. I'll probably go and see this. Looks interesting enough.
I remember back in the early to mid 90s when Charlie Sheen's name was being thrown around as Speed. Good thing he went off and had that debacle with hot-a$$ ho-bag, Denise Richards to sidetrack him.
Emile Hirsch is an interesting choice. I never would have thought of him for the role. Never would've thought he'd actually do this flick, to tell the truth. That's not a slight, or anything. It's just that, these days, he tends to take more serious roles (YES! I KNOW HE WAS IN "THE GIRL NEXT DOOR"!!!). For a look at (what I think) are his best acting efforts thus far, I recommend Alpha Dog (based on the true story of the murder of Nick Markowitz) and Into The Wild (also a true story about the late Chris McCandlis, a guy who left behind his life and family to go on a trek to Alaska to live off of the land. I remember when this story broke in the early 90s. I'd just graduated from high school when this happened and it shook a lot of the Generation Xers up because he was in our age group).
In any case, I just hope Speed Racer is worth the price of admission. If not, maybe I'll just wait to see it at the local dollar movie house.

---Later!

Is it just me or does John goodman look exactly like Super Mario with that moustache

Speed Racer looks amaizing everyone who has been bashin it is on crack

Posted by: richard on April 14, 2008 at 20:10:24

looks cool. I don't think its going to be the same experience as something like The Dark Knight or Iron Man

Posted by: Eddie on April 14, 2008 at 20:20:09

I would've liked to see this movie set during the 1960s and take out all the futuristic features.

Posted by: Griffin on April 14, 2008 at 20:31:40

Looks hot. I'm all over it.

Posted by: tekken on April 14, 2008 at 20:45:40

haha, when all those cars were flipping around in the air, it looked so funny and crazy.

looks interesting though.

I don't care what anyone else says. This movie looks f'in sick. Is it going to win and Oscar? Probably not. Will it be immensely entertaining? Oh hell yes. And that is why I will be sitting in the theater watching it when it comes out.

Posted by: OldeSpeed2 on April 14, 2008 at 21:43:43

I don't know it look so effect ridden. It looks like Tron on crack frankly. Meh

The more I see the more I absolutely think this movie is going to rock. This will take people by surprise I guarantee it. the clips of the races look so awesome. I can't wait to see them in context and in full. And as others have said it isn't "cheesy" at all. I'm loving it already. Go Speed go!

Posted by: Josh on April 14, 2008 at 22:09:33

This movie looks sweet. I never really got a chance to catch any of the cartoons, but the effects, crap load of color, etc. look amazing. I think this will be a decent quality movie. Could surprise some people with strong numbers at the box office...

i have to admit the footage is stunning... maybe the question is, will you watch it twice?
