Rhames, Pike Board The Surrogates
April 4, 2008
Ving Rhames and Rosamund Pike have joined Bruce Willis and Radha Mitchell in the sci-fi thriller The Surrogates for Disney.
Jonathan Mostow is directing the film based on the graphic novel by Robert Venditti and artist Brett Weldele of Top Shelf Comix. Michael Ferris and John Brancato (the Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines duo) wrote the script.
Mandeville Film's David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing along with Max Handelman and Elizabeth Banks.
Ned Vaughn (Frost/Nixon) was also previously cast in the film, which is set in the future where humans live risk-free lives through robot surrogates that are eternally young, perfect-looking versions of themselves.
Rhames plays a charismatic cult figure who disdains the use of surrogates and tries to lead an uprising against the "new world order."
Mitchell plays the professional partner of Willis' character, a cop that through his surrogate investigates the murders of others' surrogates.
Pike plays his wife.
Production is set to begin in late April on the film, which will be released through Touchstone.
Shooting is scheduled to start on April 28 in Boston for a November 20, 2009 release.

Pulp Fiction was a great film. The the fact that they totally misunderstood Bruce Wayne's origin and made him into hitman was just beyond the pale compared the the perversions that Burton and Schumacher did. Not only that, but with Bruce "Wattchatalkingabout" Willis and Ving Rhames apart of the cast, I am hoping this is the sequel to Pulpy Fictionless because it was cool to see the both of them slice up and shoot that guy because that is how the artistic vision of the character demanded it to be at that point for the performance of the film in the scene that was depicted in 1994. That beings said, that is a lot of films that are going to be made that are either ripped-off, inspired, or by comic books. It seems as though we are in the Golden Age of Comics books in which every single conceiveable comic book put on comic book paper that is not sold at comic books stores is in print and on the fast track to becoming a Hollywoody film. I mean, even the once unfilmable JLA is know being filmed. It thought it was impossible, but I guess nothing is now with the advent of CGI and GCI and ICG and IGC. But then again, did Spielberg direct Jurassic Park? Yes. He did. But in the end of the day, what we have to anitcipate is the real films based on comic books such as The Tin Man and The Darker Knight. What about you?!

What is up with all of these independent films based on comics that no one knew existed? I mean, as far as I'm concerned, we should only report on actual, well-known comic book heroes like The Glider, Goldern Grizzly, Fat-Man the Flying Saucer, The Thin Man and Soy Milker.

At the end of the day
You will see
That they will pay
For the the Hi-C
Not the drink
But the one in the can
Like to think
But I don't think I can
This is a movie based on a comic book
And let me tell you I'm no Crook
And we ain't talking about Cap'n Hook
But will Tom Bergeron reign supreme?!

Speaking of Tom Bergeron: Did anyone see "Dancing with the Stars" last night? Who got kicked off?

It was Steve Guttenberg. He rocks. And Tom Bergeron will pay! *shaking fist*
Bruce Willis?
Hmmm.... sounds like an interesting movie.
I would cast Bruce Willis as Lex Luthor in the next Superman movie. Not that I would think he would be the right actor as Lex Luthor, but just for the fact that he has a bald head. People have a very hard time of finding actors that are bald, or want to shave their head. I mean, Arnold got paid $30 million for his Mr. Freeze role, yet he didn't want to shave his head. If he only shaved his head, he would have cut his makeup time down by one hour. But then again, I don't think Arnold wanted to shave his head. Yeah, that's probably why he didn't shave his head.
