Verheiden Talks Teen Titans Movie
April 2, 2008
'Rick' from ComicMix talked to Mark Verheiden and wrote:
I thought you'd like notice about this interview we just posted with Battlestar Galactica's co-exec producer Mark Verheiden. He talks quite a bit about BSG, which is certainly interesting, but he also chats a bit about the upcoming 'Teen Titans' film script he's working on. There are some decent story points mentioned in the interview, so I'm sending it your way.

Hopefully it turns out better then JLA, the Flop.

Personally, I want both!!

Damn can you guys please stop with comments like "dont bring this movie" or "i hope they dont make it" - If you dont like it - dont go see it, but maybe there are people outside there who ARE interested in such movies....
("Dont bring JLA...bla..bla...do not waste time with dragonball...bla..bla...why bringing Teen Titans...bla...bla... - such comments suck totally)
Posted by: Vex on April 2, 2008 at 04:14:09
Well it appears they are taking Teen Titans seriously, with the current casting choices of JLM I'm not particularly psyched to see it but I am, however, interested in seeing it.
I'd also like to see who they get for Robin and Beastboy (if he's in it).

In defense of The 1st Guy, I will simply say:
"Justice League Mortal"
They've screwed up the film already with a stupid title, now let's see what happens with Teen Titans.
Posted by: darkbat on April 2, 2008 at 05:49:42
Cool a Teen Titans film will be really cool to see.
As for people complaining about Justice League Mortal and that that title sucks just think "Mortal" who is Mortal in the League??
BATMAN and what did BATMAN make?
BROTHER eye!!
There is one cool story right there and from what i've heard and read it may go along those lines. So give it a chance beacause DC have said it is up to the fans if it gets made.
who really wont want to see the JUSTICE LEAGUE on the big screen!!
Posted by: sytrus on April 2, 2008 at 05:52:15
who i not, but don't speak (like jla) and do it
Posted by: Apexx on April 2, 2008 at 07:43:15
I'd like to see this Teen Titans movie and Justice League Mortal (that title is a clunker) but it seems to me that DC characters always do better in animation than in live action.
Posted by: Mr. Boiler on April 2, 2008 at 08:19:00
Why won´t DC do these flicks like Marvel does?
Frist the solos and after them the team ups and the same actor ofcourse,
Posted by: Caats on April 2, 2008 at 08:47:16
will people stop saying "why doesn't DC do movies like marvel". first off, DC has absolutely no control on what movies get made. it's all WB. secondly, i'm glad WB doesn't do it like marvel, i want good movies. more about quality for me.
Posted by: Farhan on April 2, 2008 at 08:49:51

Any upcoming DC movie that mentions Nightwing is fine by me. What they need to do is take that young ass cast from the upcoming Justice League movie and use them for Teen Titans. A JLA movie without Routh or Bale would be a mistake at this point! And by the way, CHARLIZE THERON for Wonder Woman anyone???
Posted by: SuperDude on April 2, 2008 at 08:53:23
I would rather see teen titans then JL anyway. Teen Titans has way more to offer with characters we havent seen on the big screen yet unlike JL that would have batman and superman. I am looking forward to TT!
Posted by: GLKEL on April 2, 2008 at 09:51:37
I hope JLA is AWESOME!! I can't wait to see it and I support it 100%. Don't like it, eat ****. Sorry.
Also, I hope that they use the Barry Allen Flash in JLA, and that Kid Flash/Wally West is in the Teen Titans. They can't do a TT movie without Kid Flash/Wally West, the REAL KID FLASH, he's the best sidekick of all time, IMO. And likewise they must use the best Flash, Barry Allen, in the JLA movie, especially if they use the Hal Jordan GL, cuz in the comix Hal and Barry were best friends and the same age. Bottom line: Barry Allen Flash in JLA, Wally West Kid Flash in TT.
Posted by: GLKEL on April 2, 2008 at 10:05:29
And guys, "Mortal" is the JLA film's CODENAME. NOT the actual title. Just like the original Star Wars' codename was Blue Harvest, and the Dark Knight's codename is Rory's First Kiss. So cut it out with this "Mortal" ****! The film will most surely be called Justice League, and that's fine by me.
Also, the confirmed cast members for the JLA film were ALL over 25: Adam Brody-Flash/Barry Allen is 29, Common-Green Lantern/John Stewart is 35, Megan Gale-Wonder Woman is 31. ^ That doesn't sound like a teeny bopper cast to me. I think those choices are fine. Hell, Hugh Keays-Byrne, the actor who has had a carreer of playing aliens in various TV shows and films, and is supposedly playing Martian Manhunter, is 60! The other rumored cast members, like DJ Cotrona who is 28 yrs old as Superman, and Armie Hammer who is 22 yrs old as Batman are RUMORS. Personally, I think Armie Hammer might be playing Aquaman, he has blonde hair and blue eyes. But even if that is the cast, SHUT THE **** UP AND WAIT UNTIL YOU AT LEAST SEE A SET PICTURE BEFORE YOU START PISSING AND MOANING ABOUT THIS ****, DAMMIT! WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU MORONS?? YOU'RE SHOOTING YOURSELVES IN THE FOOT!! LET THE MOVIE DEVELOP SOME BEFORE YOU PASS FINAL JUDGMENT ON IT!
DON'T YOU WANT MORED DC FILMS?? THEN SHUT THE **** UP OR SUPPORT THE PROJECTS!!

GLKEL where to did see the CONFIRMED actors list??
nothing has been confirmed as WB let the contracts go on the actors as the script is still being done. plus even before that nothing was confirmed AND Common himself stated this in a interview a few weeks ago also saying its up to fans if this gets made because of the idiots on the forums say "PLEASE NO, WHY, DONT MAKE IT" and **** like that. come on people its the goddamn justice league for crying out loud! they need to do this so they can launch THE SOLO films for GL, FLASH and WW.
this could be an amazing film IF everyone stops complaining and waits for AT LEAST a trailer or image.
although i think to get the backing of all the fans we would need bale and routh
Posted by: Sun_Down on April 2, 2008 at 10:50:56
Did anyone actually read the damn article? This guy seems genuinely committed to writing a quality script and respecting the characters, as does WB.
But no, you idiots would rather whine and cry about it before it even gets off the ground.
And for the millionth time, I will bet anyone here $10,000 that the Justice League movie will not be called "Justice League Mortal". It's called a working title.
Posted by: GLKEL on April 2, 2008 at 10:51:59
Dude, WHY would you use Wally West as Flash and Hal Jordan as GL????
Hal Jordan is easily 12 years Wally's senior, their relationship is an uncle/nephew type one as opposed to the buddy cop type one of the Barry Allen/Hal Jordan relationship.
If you're using Hal Jordan, then you have to use Barry Allen. They are both the same age and are best friends in the comix, they have a lot in common. Using Wally and Hal would hinder casting, you'd either have to cast an OLD Hal Jordan or a really young, young guy as Wally West, it would not make sense at all. Barry Allen is the best Flash of all time, he's to Flash what Hal Jordan is to Green Lantern, so if you're using the best Flash, you gotta use the best green Lantern who's the same age and his best friend, Hal Jordan.
If you're going to use a secondtier Flash like Wally West or BART Allen, then you need to be using a secondtier GL that's closer in age to them. If you're using Wally as Flash then you must use Kyle Rayner as GL, he's the Wally West of GL and he and Wally West were the same age and best friends in the comix. That or you'd have to use John Stewart. If you're using Hal Jordan as GL then you must use Barry Allen as Flash, they were the same age and best friends in the comics. If you're using Wally West as Flash, who is at least ten years younger than Hal Jordan and Barry Allen, then you need to probably use Kyle Rayner as GL, he and Wally West were the same age and best friends in the comix.
So the smart thing to do would be to go like one of these:
Hal GL and Barry Flash
Barry Flash and John GL
Wally Flash and Kyle GL
Wally Flash and John GL
Wally Flash and Guy Gardner GL
^ It's that simple and it makes sense and is close to the comics. To do it any other way would be wrong, ignorant of the comics and stupid.

OK, I'll do the fan-boy thing and pick my cast (this kinda crap is fun, if not all that prctical)
Russell Crowe as SuperMan (you need someone who is a lttle older than most of the team and has a strong commanding presence.)
I'll stick with Bale for BatMan, though I thought Jonathan Frakes could've been good (if he got in shape of course)
I would love to see Carrie-Ann Moss play Wonder Woman.
Hank Azaria as the Flash (he's in great shape and can be hilarious . . just dye his hair)
Michael Jai White as John Stewart
and Djimon Hounsou as the Martian Man-Hunter
I know it'll never happen and all of them would need to join Total Fitness Gyms for a year or so, but its fun to think about.
Posted by: GobberBoob on April 2, 2008 at 11:10:18
... Oh, and maybe Denise Richards for Hawk Girl
Posted by: GLKEL on April 2, 2008 at 11:22:58
Of course, I'd love to have Routh and Bale, or even Welling, but here's my 1st list of choices based on actors I'm familiar with:
Superman: Michael Trucco
Batman: ?
Wonder Woman: Megan Gale, Kate Beckinsale, Victoria Hill
Flash/Barry Allen: Jensen Ackles, Adam Brody
Green Lantern/Hal Jordan: Josh Duhamel, Nathon Fillon (or someone else VERY close in age to whoever plays the Flash/Barry Allen)
Kid Flash/Wally West/eventually Flash: Anton Yelchin
Green Lantern/John Stewart: Common
Green Lantern/Kyle Rayner: DJ Cotrona
Martian Manhunter: voice of Carl Lumbly/someone who sounds similar
Aquaman: ?
Atom/Ray Palmer: Casey Afleck
Green Arrow: maybe Ewan McGregor?????
Black Canary: ?
Hawkman: ?
Hawkgirl: ?
Captain Marvel: Brandon Molale
Steel: Tyreese Gibson

...No offense, but this thread is full with fanboy whining.
People are entitled to opinions. Granted, some may express those opinions in a ****ty way, but they're entitled to them nonetheless. That's why this comment system was made. So yelling at people going
"SHUT THE **** UP AND WAIT UNTIL YOU AT LEAST SEE A SET PICTURE BEFORE YOU START PISSING AND MOANING ABOUT THIS ****, DAMMIT! WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU MORONS?? YOU'RE SHOOTING YOURSELVES IN THE FOOT!! LET THE MOVIE DEVELOP SOME BEFORE YOU PASS FINAL JUDGMENT ON IT!"
is going to get noone anywhere.
Quite frankly, things like that simply put people off the boards and make things much more unpleasant for the general SSH populace.
With that done, I'd like to express my opinion.
Like many others, I hold the belief that this movie isn't going to turn out very well. I'm not basing my opinions on any material, it's just simply the fact that this is simply WB jumping the gun to make more money, which, granted, is the main part of a movie studio, the movie in itself is simply a bad idea.
First off, you already have established actors as Batman and Superman. Why confuse people some more? It's just going to make alot of fans angry.
Second, most people would rather single movies for the characters rather than a quick buck making movie about the Justice League. BECAUSE it's Justice League, you damn well better know what you're doing. That's why personally, and this is just me, I prefer the way Marvel is doing their movies. Make singluar movies and establish the characters first, rather than get some pretty boys together (if going by prelim cast lists is anything) who look like they belong in a Backstreet Boys music video, is just a bad idea.
Wasn't this Teen Titans thread at some point?
Anyway, Titans would be another sort of bad idea here, in my opinion, a worse idea than justice league. The reason being is because it'd just make alot of people mad again. The origional titans, which half the fandom would want, consisted of Robin, Wonder Girl, Speedy, Kid Flash, and Aqualad. None of them have either their own movies, and only Robin has his partner as a movie character currently running.
However, another way to look at it is if they created a Titans movie on characters such as Cyborg, Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven, Bumblebee etc. Titans characters that aren't sidekicks. I wouldn't think making it was a good idea either, but it's another viable option.
The only real thing to do at the moment is wait and see.
Posted by: Diaxiann on April 2, 2008 at 12:43:41
Sorry, when I said wouldn't think, I meant would think.
In short, I think it's a bad idea.
