Update #8: New Dark Knight Gotham Times Arrives
Source:Femidk1, Rezzo, thunderclap8
March 26, 2008

'Femidk1' has posted photos on the Superhero Hype! message boards of a new edition of The Gotham Times that is being sent out to people who received the first issue as well. It's part of The Dark Knight viral marketing and this time concentrates more on Harvey Dent's campaign.

You can view photos and learn about new URLs mentioned in the newspaper here!

UPDATE #1: The official Gotham Times website has updated to this new issue of the newspaper. Also, IBelieveinHarveyDent.com has received an update.

UPDATE #2: Talked about in the newspaper's new issue, MaidenAvenueReport.com is also online.

UPDATE #3: GothamCableNews.com, Dana Worthington.com, CitizensforBatman.org and SaintsWithunsChurch.org have launched as well.

UPDATE #4: Be sure to e-mail some of the above sites to see what kind of replies you get!

UPDATE #5: GVAFoundation.org has been updated with a message from Dana Worthington.

UPDATE #6: Joker's back too! Fans are receiving this text message from recruiting@rent-a-clown.com:

Hey clown! Long time, no crime spree! Well, put on your floppy shoes and answer this question: are you ready to get to work? (ReplyY/N)

If you reply Y, you'll get back:

"Glad to see you're still alive and kicking. I'll be in touch before Poisson d'Avril."

So, looks like we'll hear from The Joker before April Fools' Day (April 1).

UPDATE #7: GPDIAD.com has updated with officers of the month, while you can now call GothamCab.com at 1-877-530-2227 to hear a message about how they've shut down, something that was also mentioned in the new Gotham Times (the cabs were being used for mafia delivery jobs). As before, you can enter Breitup's badge number (6773) when prompted at the end of the message for more.

UPDATE #8: A new letter from the Harvey Dent arrived in fans' inboxes...

We did it! Harvey Dent has officially announced he's running for Gotham District Attorney! And it's all because of you -- your support.

Your rallies, your petition drives, your videos, your enthusiasm. The Dentmobile brought our message of change for Gotham City to every neighborhood. But it was your energy that brought a message of support to Harvey Dent himself.

And he heard you. Harvey Dent heard the fierce desire all of you have for change in Gotham. And that's why, today, Harvey Dent announced that he's running for Gotham DA.

Now, the real battle begins. We all must join together to make sure that Harvey Dent gets the chance to take back Gotham City from crime and corruption.

Talk to your neighbors, your friends, your coworkers. Tell them why Harvey Dent is the one man who can save Gotham.

And keep on checking IBelieveinHarveyDent.com for news of the race.

Harvey Dent thanks you all. With your help, we can take back Gotham.

Sincerely

Allan Cypes
Media Manager, Harvey Dent for Gotham DA

I really like how they are making the fans a part of this campaign. Makes it more engaging.

I can't wait for this movie! here's an article from batman on film.com:

"I'm a production assistant with a company that had some business at Warner Bros. today. During my errand there, talk about THE DARK KNIGHT was everywhere, so I thhought I'd send in an update.

Nolan's director's cut has been screened [As recently confirmed by the director himself -- Jett] and word is that even the hard nose execs that are typically hard to please thought it was amazing! I heard the run time is right around two and a half hours right now with only minor polishes to come.

The person I talked to who was supposedly at the screening when Nolan showed it to everyone said Nolan -- who is typically nervous entering screenings -- was nervous before this one, but came out with a huge smile on his face along with everyone else in the screening. So just thought I'd let you and the BOF faithful know that this thing is just about ready to go."

Could this be total BS made up by a fan? Could it be coming from a plant? Sure. Nonetheless, it certainly jives with what I've been hearing from people I know are "in the know."

Bottom line: TDK is shaping up to be perhaps the best Batman -- and maybe even comic book/super hero -- movie of all time.

I want that delivered to my doorstep NOW!! Hehe. Cool I joined the campaign few days or weeks ago here in Calif. It was kind cool for the movie campaign.

It appears that the WB decided to turn the marketing away from the Joker and focus on Harvey Dent now, and I wish they didn't. I understand they're in a bind now since Heath Ledger passed away, but come on, the Joker is why people will want to see this movie. So shoving Harvey Dent out there is a tad boring, unless you're actually going to show some two-face footage.

I just wish they'd keep going with the Joker campaign, because of how great is was. But hey, they might do more things with it, so I'm not saying all is lost. I just find this shift to Harvey Dent being the focus just too bland.

WOW GF this film must really suck huh?
Now go watch your Smurfs and drink your nippled bottle of milk and leave the movies to the grown-ups. Maybe later if you're good we'll let you go outside to the swing after your nap.

SEE YA!!!!

Sorry, posted my last comment on wrong blog. My apologies.

Normally, I don't get excited until the theatre lights start dimming. Something about this movie has me in chills. The image of Joker calmly watching over his shoulder as Batman flies by him on the bike, thrilling!

articles are amazing!!!

Posted by: tobias on March 26, 2008 at 13:05:29

any confirmation that these are going to the people who got the first issue? i figured they'd be going to those who got their pics on IBIHDT.com this time.

Who reads the second page of comments? Not I.

This may be the Best interactive pr campaign in movie history.

Posted by: Wes on March 26, 2008 at 13:26:45

This is easily the coolest 'campaign' out there right now. I'd like to me the guys who come up with this viral stuff. I wonder if there's gonna be something about it when the dvd for the DarkKnight eventually comes out? Anybody else think so?

Posted by: John on March 26, 2008 at 13:30:53

Call the phone number on stwithuns website!

Posted by: The Addict on March 26, 2008 at 13:46:28

Anyone know what happens if you call these numbers and leave a message?

Posted by: The Addict on March 26, 2008 at 13:52:44

And how do you get in on the rent-a-clown campaign? I'm not sure if I've done it or not.

Posted by: Binker on March 26, 2008 at 13:53:13

Citizens of Batman? Man, did I get a big DKR "Sons of Batman" vibe, huh?

Posted by: Jason on March 26, 2008 at 14:07:03

please dont mention that idiot site BOF.

Posted by: Josh Lanphear on March 26, 2008 at 14:07:36

The rent-a-clown campaign is from one of the older viral stunts. You can't join anymore. Also, thehahahatimes.com is an older viral as well.

Also, I've called and left messages on all the sites with numbers attached. So far no responses. Although I have gotten e-mail responses, thanks to my e-mail and membership inquiries. unfortunately, I'm not able to be a part of the more hands-on stuff thanks to my location. :( But w/e.

Posted by: GCN on March 26, 2008 at 14:12:11

i think we might see some stuff relating to the movie on comcast on demand in the near future like comcast did with spider-man 3, especially since that one GCN site mentions comcast.

Posted by: Kyle B on March 26, 2008 at 14:17:41

The Viral Marketing campaign is brilliant.

Posted by: Mike V. on March 26, 2008 at 14:30:44
