SEGA of America, Inc., SEGA Europe Ltd., and Marvel Entertainment, Inc. announced today that the Iron Man video game, based on the successful Marvel comic book series and the upcoming film by Marvel Studios, will feature the voice talents of Robert Downey Jr., Terence Howard and Shaun Toub. All three actors will reprise their onscreen roles of Tony Stark (Downey), Lt. Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes (Howard), and Yinsen (Toub). The Iron Man video game launches day and date with the blockbuster movie on May 2, 2008.

Iron Man, an explosive third-person action shooter game that pits one of the world's most renowned Super Heroes against unspeakable odds, draws its story from the upcoming movie while also incorporating story elements from original "Iron Man" comic books. Using the advanced technology in Iron Man's suits of armor, gamers can take advantage of the wide array of high-impact weapons to strategically annihilate any enemy force standing in their way. Before tackling stunning and immense open battlefields, players can customize their armor suit as they encounter progressively more vicious enemies, and fight in epic battles that could challenge even the toughest Super Heroes.

Iron Man is the story of Tony Stark, a billionaire industrialist and inventor who had it all. But during a routine weapons test in the Middle East, Stark was captured and forced to construct the ultimate weapon. Instead of following his captors' demands, Tony built his own devastating weapon – a powerful suit of armor that provided the key to his heroic escape. From this point forward, Tony Stark became more than a man. He became Iron Man.

Iron Man will be available this spring for the Xbox 360, the Wii, the PlayStation 3, the PlayStation 2, the Nintendo DS, the PSP and Windows-based PC.

Will this game be an open environment like Spider-Man or the Incredible Hulk? It should still be a great game anyway, but how cool would it be if Iron Man could fly over the city, knock down buildings, and fly into the ground? Oh well, it should be fun to throw missles back at the enemy.

Open environment DD. This game is gonna rock!

Bring on the Ultimate WMD!!!!!

What ever happened to the Mandarin? did that get dropped?

Posted by: Guest_1001 on March 20, 2008 at 17:08:43

God, are people still talking about the bloody Mandarin . . . ?

Good news about Shaun Toub. Honestly, he might turn out to be the most underappreciated aspect of the whole film.

that doesn't answer the question? Was he dropped from the film?

Video games based from movies always sucks , Just like how movies based from video games sucks harder and bigger (VISA VERSA)!!!! The only video game from a movie I could say was good was Transformers and Spiderman. But non the less...I will hold judgement until I play it.

At Comic-Con last year Favreau said the Mandarin's presence would be felt in the movie, but not be seen, rather like Sauron in The Lord of the Rings, with the central villain being Iron Monger. He would then appear in another sequel.

All superhero games should be free-roaming/open enviroment. Batman Begins wasn't and that pissed me off so much.

What no Gwyneth??? There's a shock... haha.

i saw the game trailer of Ironman the game it looks bad ass.

Hey VENOM 1988,thanks for the info on Mandarin.
I remember hearing about that character being
talked abouta as the villain for the film, but
then when the trailer came out, there was no
mention or appearance of him.But I'm still looking forward to seeing the movie. The game
should be good too.I'm not surprised that the
main cast is voicing their roles from the movie. They normally do that for the video game
versions of the films. The movie is goona great
and hopefully the game is just as good.

I - for one - am glad (GLAD, I tell ya!) that there's no direct reference to the Mandarin in Ol' Shellhead first live-action outing. After all, we don't want a repeat of the chaos that was Spidey 3 now, do we.

Now that right THERE was living proof that too much of a good thing can be bad. Very, very bad! Naughty Raimi! Very naughty! Back of the class with you!

No, it is enough that we have a reworking of an origin story with a li'l Armor Wars nod thrown in for good measure - we can save the rest for another, ooh, let's say, FIVE sequels?!?!? So long as they're well written and directed, and not done for the sake of a squillion more bucks...

when does this game come out?
