Update: Michael Cera in Scott Pilgrim's Little Life
March 19, 2008
>UPDATE: MovieMake-out.com tells us they talked to "Scott Pilgrim" cartoonist Bryan O'Malley who said that the title of "Scott Pilgrim's Little Life" as reported in The Hollywood Reporter is incorrect. Not only did they omit the "Precious" form the first book's complete title, but the title of the screenplay is even from a different book in the series.
Michael Cera is in final negotiations to star in Scott Pilgrim's Little Life for Universal, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Edgar Wright is directing the adventure romance, which is being produced by Marc Platt and Eric Gitter. Wright and Nina Park also are producing.
"Life" tells the story of a young slacker (Cera) who meets the woman of his dreams but finds that he can only win her heart by battling and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends.
The project is based on the Oni Press graphic novel "Scott Pilgrim Volume 1: Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life," written by Bryan Lee O'Malley. Michael Bacall and Wright wrote the screenplay.
The studio is eyeing a fall start.

I love Michael Cera....he was great in Arrested Development. The premise to this story sound real interesting. But damn, a girl with 7 evil ex boyfirends? sounds like a slut who makes bad choices in men.
I hope Michael Cera doesnt get type casted and being labeled as an actor who can only play slacker/loser, nerd. Just look at Jason Biggs, and whats he doing now? I just hope Cera doesnt fall in that same hole.

Michael Cera and Edgar Wright? That's just about awesome. Definitely keep an eye on this one. Never heard of the material though.

"7 evil exes"! I hope they don't change too much, story-wise. I think this could give Cera a chance to showcase some new skills, and Wright is maybe the perfect director for this project.
Scott Pilgrim is a great read! It's got a lot of weirdness that won't translate easily to movies, but it should still be fun to see how they do whatever they do with it. It's a really good story with quirky, likable characters. As long as they don't screw around with things too much, it'll be good.

Cera is perfect for this role! And Scott Pilgrim is a lot different than his usual typecast roles. He's a rocker and a fighter. The books are awesome and should be read by everyone.

I had heard of Scot Pilgrim before, but didn't really know much about it.I was just looking it up, and it looks like this could be a really wild film. One of her exes, Roxanne Richter, is a half ninja. What does that mean? One of her parentas is a ninja and the other one isn't?That made me laugh.

Sounds like an interesting story.I saw Michael
Cera in JUNO,and he was good in that. The story
of battling a girls ex's sounds like something
any guy would dred.I'm sure this film will
be pretty good.I'll just have to wait and see.

100% awesome. My brother is obsessed with Scott Pilgrim, and he absolutely loves Arrested Development. He'll be psyched to hear this, for sure.

Holy ****in' hot damn. As perfect a casting as you can get.
And Edgar Wright ought to be able to capture the Capcom-esque Fight Sequences with the mastery of style he showwed in his last two movies.
Mark my words This will be a HUGE hit.
Juno + Dragonball = $Money$
Tons of it.

That is god awful casting. I can't believe that they just wrecked the mvoie from the get go.

Not going to play a game of war with you Cerh. Don't get me wrong. I think the kid is funny and he was great a George Michael and the kid in Juno and Superbad. But he acts the same way he does in all three of those things.
And if you've read Scott Pilgrim. Well you can just tell, Michael Cera ain't that 23 year old kid who doesn't know how to play bace but still jams it wicked hard in Sex Bob-omb.
So again, I'm just saying.

lol, i agree with you match i was just bored and goin around ssh and tryin to start stuff with whiney fan boys. i feel the same way about shia labouf, hes a good actor but he plays the same guy in every movie hes been in
Posted by: MaTcH on March 19, 2008 at 21:44:30
Lol good **** dude. You're right about Shia. I'm hoping he doesn't get the Y: The last man role.
That would blow the monkey.
Posted by: Cerh on March 19, 2008 at 21:59:37
yea i know, i can't believe he got a starring role in Indiana Jones. thats one of my favorite film franchises. and he might even be Indys son no less! whats hollywood comin too. what is Y: The last man exactly, ever since they said there was gonna be a movie made everyone on the net started talking about how good it was
Posted by: MaTcH on March 19, 2008 at 23:42:32
I know!!! Harrison Ford should save Inday tho....*crosses fingers*
Y the last man is about a guy named Yorick and his g/f Beth. Yorick is volunteering to train a monkey to be a helper and Beth is doing nature walks in Australia.
Then all of a sudden and plague hits the world and all the men die off.
Except Yorick and his monkey.
The world goes to **** and Yorick is traveling around trying to find his g/f and all these women are going nuts.
This terrorist group called the Amazons is formed and all these females are just trying to get the world in order and try to jump back from this krap that just happened.
That was long sory.
Anyways go pick up the trades. Volume 1-9. The last one (10) will be out in a couple of months.
Brian K Vaughn is the writer and he's pretty awesome and so is the penciler. I forget her name tho.

I just hope this doesn't delay Ant-Man.

Yah I don't really like this casting. Scott Pilgrim is more like a geek who tries to be cool, and just so happens to be a crazy fighter. I don't totally hate Michael Cera but he does act the same in every movie, he acts like a nerd who is in over his head. He does a good job at playing "awkward". I just hope he can try something different if he's going to be in this movie. He's more like a Peter Parker than a Scott Pilgrim.

o sounds like Y is a pretty cool story ill have to go check out the comics, if they do cast shia hopefully he'll do a good job
Posted by: Ben on March 20, 2008 at 17:30:38
i remember reading something about this comic when it first came out, and it sounded pretty novel. and now that michael cera is attached to star in it, i think it will be pretty decent.
Posted by: Duffman on March 20, 2008 at 20:52:20
I was skeptical about Cera too, but after seeing him doing an interview on he did I feel he might be just naturally awkward enough to fulfill this role.

A guy came into the store where I work, and said he was going to be working on the movie this fall. Asked for all the Scott Pilgrim books.
I told him that the casting wasn't that great but he said Edgar Wright and whom ever are going to try to push the kid to do his best.
I still think it's going to suck.

I approve

Van Hansis, a young actor from As the World Turns, was born to play Scott Pilgrim. Someone mentioned his name on another site and he looks just like Scott. Google him and see for yourself.

He is very cool. I appreciate the film. The site known as pubspa also gets a lot about the massage health care.

I will be SO MAD/SAD is they "hollywood-ize" this and make it set anywhere other than Toronto Canada. The brawls were the best thing about it and the story is so much a part of Toronto's hang outs.
