New Hellboy II Trailer Debuts at ShoWest!

ComingSoon.net reports that, in addition to the Wanted clip that was shown at WonderCon and The Incredible Hulk trailer that debuted last night, Universal Pictures presented a new trailer for Hellboy II: The Golden Army at the ShoWest convention in Las Vegas. Here we go...

The new trailer opens at the Blackwoods auction house where they're putting the Royal Crown of Bethmoora up for auction when Luke Goss' Prince Nuada shows up to reclaim it, and his henchman Mr. Wink crashes through a door with what looks like his metal fist dangling from a chain. It then cuts to the BPRD headquarters to reintroduce the concept of the BPRD being called upon to deal with supernatural occurrences, and Hellboy, Liz and Abe Sapien show up at the location which is completely trashed and empty, and Hellboy says something to Liz, like "There's no one here, babe" and she retorts "Don't call me babe!" which he responds, "I didn't call you babe, I said 'Hey!'" Hellboy makes a comment about it not looking good when thousands of Thooth Fairies, tiny winged creatures with sharp teeth fly out from the shadows of the walls attacking them. The rest of the trailer is very quick and goes by very fast, but we finally see Princess Nuala and get glimpses of a lot of the creatures of the Troll Market including Cathedral Head, and after we see one of the more hideous creature, it cuts to Hellboy yelling "I see you" and we see that the creature is disguised as an old bag lady (presumably this is the creature referred to as "Bag Lady" in the production office). We see more of Hellboy fighting against the Golden Army, the giant mechanical beetles that Prince Nuada brings to life, and more of his fight with Mr. Wink with the two of them smashing their stone fists together and Wink's fist crumbling as he looks at the results and whines. The final scene is the street scene with the giant Elemental but this time Hellboy yells at the creature, "Now you've done it. You woke the baby!" and pulls out his Big Baby gun.

Hellboy 2 is gonna rock. Pearlman can do no wrong and Del Toro's view on the Hellboy world kicks much ass.

What a great summer for comic book movies!
Iron Man, Hulk, Dark Knight, Hellboy 2, am I missing anything else?
This summer is going to be a blast!!

Posted by: Mr. J on March 13, 2008 at 17:32:04

I have...
1. Dark Knight
2. Iron Man

3 or 4, Hulk or Hellboy.

Hulk is hyped and Hellboy has a sequal
Just depends on these two from the fans.

Isn't Wanted a Comic Book Type Movie?

Yep. Its based on a comic, but it looks like it is going in a totally different direction; hopefully with less cussing.

In addition to the comic adaptations, the spoof Superhero Movie comes out later this month, and Hancock with Will Smith July 2nd. It actually wouldn't surprise me if Hancock got pushed back; its a pretty big-name-name-filled summer for a studio-grown hero movie to compete in. At least Watchmen is waiting for the smoke to clear before its debut in a year.

hellboy is based on comics too

Posted by: Aaric on March 13, 2008 at 21:20:53

Ha! Someone can't even type Will Smith's movie without it getting censored. Anyway, I don't get all this stupid fighting over who's better, Marvel or DC. Who cares?! If it's a good movie, it's a good movie.

But to look at the track record, DC has done Constantine, V for Vendetta, Batman Begins, Superman to name a few. And all those seemed good. To me anyway. Especially Batman. That's just a good film without the superhero aspect. But all I can remember from marvel in the past few years is Daredevil, Ghost Rider, and Fantastic 4 crap. I love the spiderman films though. I kinda blame Marvel Studios for the 3rd's cluttered feel though. Having Raimi add Venom to the script... I love Venom, but it was too much in one movie. I'm not going to rule out seeing a marvel film though. I seriously think they need to be signing on better directors. If you have top class actors and a piss poor director, you have nothing. I'd rather watch an unknown actor with a great director. I think Marvel may be putting their money in the wrong places. But I can't wait to see Ed Norton in the Hulk. I have some faith in that knowing Ed usually has a good sense of what is good. I wish Spielberg would have some interest in Cap America. Throwing the Cap in a Saving Private Ryan scene? It would be Awesome.

i agree with Aaric with the whos better marvel or dc..who cares..thats a 5th grade debate i just want both compaines 2 put out great movies of my favorite childhood memories..

Posted by: JIM on March 14, 2008 at 10:07:05

i hate the fact that all these forums are filled with 14year old kids who debate on such subjects as who is stronger, this movie will bury the other etc.every one who's an avid comic book fan wants these movies to be done the right way.not neccessarily the "successful way".i'd rather see a good comic book movie that's true to the spirit of the comic than a huge pop corn movie that lacks soul and has little to do with the original concept of the comic book.as for dc i agree that they figured it right by selecting top notch directors.marvel should start hiring decent directors and not just flashy cast.i tottally agree with Aaric.that's what everyone should be thinking.i truly hope both iron man and hulk to turn out great because i have no doubts regarding the dark knight and hellboy

Hellboy will rock, I like hellboy better than the HULK. Del toro should direct superman.
Anyone but singer.

Hellboy is going to kick a$$

Order of excitement for me:
1.The Dark Knight
2. Hellboy 2
3. Iron Man
4. Narnia 2
5. The Incredible Hulk
6. Indiana Jones
7. The Punisher

Hellboy II looks like they kept the same elements of the first film and boosted up the action. It looks like this will be more entertaining than its predecessor.
