Justice League May be Moving to Canada
February 25, 2008
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Warner Bros.' Justice League movie might be moving its production from Australia to Canada:
Justice League was due to be shot at Fox Studios this year until Warner Bros suspended production last month, citing uncertainty over the new incentives. Based on a comic book, it is due to star the Australians Megan Gale, Teresa Palmer and Hugh Keays-Byrne among eight lead roles and employ a huge crew that includes visual effects specialists.
"One of the reasons for doing Justice League in this country is the opportunity to bring back all the people we lost on Happy Feet who went overseas," Miller said. "We spent four years developing this talent and the cream of them left because they didn't have another film to go on to ...
"The idea is to say come back, start off on Justice League then move onto Happy Feet 2."
Miller described the movie's status as "precarious" and said Warner Bros was pushing for it to be shot overseas, with Canada the most likely option.

First! And they should just give up on the justice league and make solo films for everyone.

I hope it still gets scrapped. Having two different continuities of Batman and Superman on the big screen will ruin what's already there. And am I reading this wrong, or did that say that Canada was overseas?

And stop it with that first thing. It's just annoying.

I'm just waiting to see how Warner screw this up....no bale, no welling, not even routh...

Canada is overseas if you are in Australia; that's where the article is coming from.

Yep, it sounds like Warners have made a right mess with the Justice League movie. They should have either hired Brandon Routh/Tom Welling as Superman and replace Batman (as Bale is not involved) with Green Arrow (which worked on Smallville). Also, they should of done what the producers of James Bond and Harry Potter done and sign the lead actors for 4 or 5 films.

I think the film can coexist with the other franchises... If you look at the comics, all the big characters have multiple monthly titles, as well as the team issues they are involved in (i.e., Superman, Man of Steel, Man of Tomorrow, JLA...)
Secondly, to those who think Tom Welling would be a good fit for a studio Superman film, your wrong... I like Smallville, but it works cause its a tv show and it panders to a younger teenage audience... Tom Welling is not that good an actor, did you see him in THE FOG??? His acting style is suitable for tv, but not film...

so this article seems to be describing the talent from Happy Feet need to be involved in Justice League. Does that mean this is for sure going to be an animated movie?

I liked Routh as Superman, but if they are to replace him, they should cast Henry Cavill (The Tudors). He looks born to the part. And he can act. He auditioned for Batman (Begins), so he should be amiable to superhero roles.

I think that they ought to just do a really awesome CGI feature length like the recent Spidey, Hulk, Iron Man shorts. Trying to pull this one off live-action is going to be difficult, but who knows.

Oh, I almost forgot....TENTH!! WOO-HOO!!!WTF
Posted by: Desk on February 25, 2008 at 11:39:08
I don't understand why anyone would be averse to the notion of a Justice League film.
Just because something seems difficult to pull off doesn't mean it shouldn't be attempted
The technology is there, George Miller's a proven talent, so if Warners are keen to go for it then what have we, as fans, got to lose?

Just one more thing to blame Canada for! Huzzah! Audiences will be able to handle different actors as Bats and Supes. We be sofistykateds.

What the hell i say they should put the JLA movie on hold and fcus on a Superman/Batman movie i have been waiting for a movie like that for years i dont know how they could possibly screw that one up but hey it is Warner Bros. after all
Posted by: John on February 25, 2008 at 12:01:43
they need to scrap this movie. their plot outline is basically just a lead up of what happened prior to infinite crisis with max lord. and what's the point of bringing in a new group of heroes when alot of them haven't had their own movies to build their appeal. DC and Warner need to get their crap together
Posted by: Rosencrantz on February 25, 2008 at 12:02:27
From what was said in earlier news Bats and Supes aren't even going to be in the JLA flick. Bats is missing and Supes is dead at the hands of Doomsday. Leaving who in charge?, Martian Manhunter most likely. I hope at least Bats and Supes are in a flash back or somethin'. It ain't the JLA without 'em.
Posted by: Rosencrantz on February 25, 2008 at 12:05:26
Or...they could always do a JLA Unlimited movie and give Bruce Timm, and Paul Dini the big screen attention they deserve.

dc needs to take a step back and breathe. the only franchise they got going positively right now is batman, although their straight to dvd animated films are great. marvel plans to do an avengers movie only after the individual films come out which is great but dc trying to make this justice league thing fly with different people will be confusing to movie goers...plus no supes or batman...wtf?

It continues to baffle me why Warner & the powers to be would continue to push for a film that the fans first & foremost don't believe in... They need to concentrate on making a good superman movie first; we haven't had one one of those since Superman II! But at least they've finally got a Batman franchise that is fantastic!! And their animated flicks blows marvels out the water! So they have shown us when they want to, they can get it right...quite well actually!
Don't be in such a rush...

Well, at this rate I think they should just trash the idea at this point. Oh by the way who is Hugh Keays-Byrne going to play in Justice League anyways? No wonder DC is having a hard time putting the good superhero movies witheir characters. Marvel is the way to go. Can't wait for the Ironman.

I'm hearing all this talk about the Justice League movie and yet there hasn't been any mention of the Teen Titans flick. What's up w/ that??
Posted by: jon on February 25, 2008 at 12:47:47
i wonder if the people that make these movies even think before they decide to go ahead and make it. THIS WILL SUCK! trust me. solo films are the way to go. if u do a justice league use who we already have as the cast. duh!
Posted by: OliPhoenixFire on February 25, 2008 at 12:51:55
Just for the record... Canada is NOT overseas. Its just up north! And I do wish that they make J.L. & Happy Feet asap!

dude.. what the blue hell. i have been listening to reports on this movie for over a decade now, from wizard supposed insiders, etc.if you're gonna do it then do it if not move on , you have to of d.c comics biggest comic book heroes already ,get it done you've resurrected batman and brought superman back from extinction, hey do the DAMN MOVIE ALREADY!!! sorry for yelling..
Posted by: Jose A. Lopez on February 25, 2008 at 13:09:16
lets get the ball rolling already..are batman and superman still in it? i heard that they're the only 2 not in the lineup..bale should reprise the role..but routh...negative..he may have been an "ok" superman..except that bryan singer tried to make him look EXACTLY like the late great christopher reeve..another big no-no..if they do use routh for JL..first, get the guy some acting lessons..second, make him REALLY look like he just jumped off the comic book page..and make the friggin "S" BIGGER!!
