Source:Anthony Baratta
February 24, 2008
ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype! got a chance to sit down with Iron Man director Jon Favreau at WonderCon 2008 in San Francisco on Saturday. You can listen to the unedited (includes some explicit language) interview in MP3 file below!
Opening May 2, the comic book adaptation stars Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges. The film tells the story of Tony Stark, a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Instead, using his intelligence and ingenuity, Tony builds a high-tech suit of armor and escapes captivity. Upon his return to America, Tony must come to terms with his past. When he uncovers a nefarious plot with global implications, he dons his powerful armor and vows to protect the world as Iron Man.

Come we all know that Iron Man's going to be awesome, we've seen the trailers, what we need now is more Hulk more Batman, i'm not disrespecting Iron Man, it's going to be awesome but get some more Batman and more Hulk into the blend

He's a really good interviewee. has a lot to say, goes into a lot of details, knows what he's talking about and doesn't really have to be guided.
That says nothing about the movie itself, but it's just an observation I made.

I agree Odiin. His interviews are great, and he really does seem enthusiastic about his film. I can't wait to see it. :]

What makes it "For Kids" ?
Couldn't it be a film "For All Ages"?
And besides that point, if it does touch on the sexuality like Iron Man should (this is Tony Stark) then I probably wouldn't bring MY kids to go see it.
So what exactly do you require to make a film for adults? The unneeded nudity and gratuitous sexuality? Or maybe the constant barrage of foul language for no particular reason?
Useless amounts of excessive gore?
What would you have done to make Iron Man a more fun movie that keeps in spirit with the comics?

I really like what I'm hearing. Hopefully the film is as good as the trailers are making it out to be.
With that said, these updates are intended for fans and of course people who are generally interest in the films production and progress. If you don't like it or have no interest, what's so hard about ignoring it?

It sounds like it might be another movie like F4. Hopefully, that is not the case, but I am not going to be happy if this movie has more of a comedic tone. Hopefully, directors will have learned from Tim Story's failure as a director and not go that route with a marvel movie.

^ I truely hope, and I do believe that Iron Man will be a better movie than FF4 is!... Than again, that's not a tough task all together!

I like the fantastic 4 movies.

"Are we going to see the Mark 3 do a lot of action?"
Favs: "Oh yeah."
SWEET!
Favs is far more intelligent then people seem to give him credit.
His discussion about respecting the source material and basing decisions on the source material wether they went the way of the books or not.

"I think Iron man movie will be terrible. It's for kids. I am big grown up man and I want to see a grown up movie. "
What's a big man like you doing in Superherohype? Looking for independent films from France?

Everything I have seen or heard about this film leads me to believe that it may turn out to be one of the best comic adaptations ever.
With the Hulk, Batman, Hellboy, Punisher, Wanted and Whiteout films coming out this year, I may just move into the theatre.
J.F. is a class act. I hope this turns out to be a great film and that he continues to make Marvel films.

i am going to go on record and say this movie is going to suck balls. and not suck balls in that way we like to have our balls sucked... but in the way that the director of ELF is making a movie about a drunken/ power tripping/ billionaire with a god complex... and trying to find a way to cater it to sell toys to 5 year olds!!!
sorry... there is no hero with out fire. you hide the fire, you lose the story! period.

While I haven't seen ELF to know if I should put a lot of stock into the direction of this movie or not, I have seen Zathura and was impressed for it being a childrens movie. Now I don't want Iron Man to be Zathura but I think that movie showed potential. Has anyone seen Made?
All the kid friendly talk is starting to shift my impressions of this movie. Everything I have seen so far looks good. I would love to see Downey play Tony Stark like a really rich, drunk, sex-hungry egomaniac. Downey does drunk, pompous, and smart@$$ almost better than anyone.
