Sueprhero Hype! received the following note:

Hi There! This is Thiago Borbolla, from Brazilian JUDAO.com.br. Our international correspondent, Fábio M. Barreto, who runs the blog S.O.S Hollywood at our site, just spoke with J.K. SIMMONS about JUNO and asked about SPIDER-MAN 4... Here's what he said:

"There's talking and talking, on the character, on the possible movie. I've received several calls. But nothing firm on that. [...] I do expect to be on the fourth movie, though. I hope so. I'm really able to do it and will be great playing that character again."

Sounds good to ME!

J.K Simmons is awesome as Jameson. and even though i think tobey maguire was pretty good as parker, i would like to see a new actor cast, maybe jake gyllenhaal.

Posted by: anthony on February 20, 2008 at 03:38:55

that little kid from that third rock from the son show is actually rumooured to have been offered the role as the new spidey!!! i would like to see him do it i am sick of mguire as well i say treat it like a james bond thing replace them every couple of movies. they want to make like 7 or 8 of these spidey movies so why not mix it up ....

Posted by: SpideyFreak on February 20, 2008 at 03:47:47

i agree with anthony about jake but not on the idea of booting tobey. i assure you the movie will flop without him...but they should kill mary jane in the 4th installment and just keep gwen. kirsten as mj was a stupid idea from the start.

Posted by: matt on February 20, 2008 at 03:55:06

how about harrrrrrrrrrrry potter as spidey!

Posted by: reek on February 20, 2008 at 03:57:34

I just gotta say that although it's a relatively small part, J.K. Simmons' J.J.Jameson is the MOST faithful portrayal of a comic character yet to make it to the big screen.

reek i agree with u that j.k.simmons really portrays jameson well n also agree that jake shudnt play spidey bcas he aint dat good of an actor. i say put sum1 like sum random college student who is studyin drama to do it. or guy who played frodo.

I want ALL of the previous cast and crew (especially Sam, Tobey and Kirsten) or not at all. Anything else will just ruin the franchise. We don't need another reboot just a real good Spidey movie.

Posted by: Soup on February 20, 2008 at 05:08:59

Just watch the villan will be Carnage

Oh homophobes it's time to be big boys now and separate fantasy from reality. Brokeback Mountain starred two straight guys. You guys do know Spider Man isn't real right? He's just a character. I feel I have to put that out there since you can't separate "roles" from "actors". It's time you joined us in the new millenium.

Posted by: The Dark Knight on February 20, 2008 at 05:21:55

Yeah, Simmons is a great JJJ! I wanna see more Jonah 'blah blah' in 'Spidey 4'! And I want Carnage and Lizard!

Posted by: Valo on February 20, 2008 at 05:38:53

J.K.Simmons IS J.J.J. He steals every scene he's in. To not cast him to reprise his role would be insane. For the fourth Spider-Man, they should do something with Dr.Conners and get the friggin' Lizard story going on. He's been floating in the background of all three movies and nothing seems to be done about it. They should quit beating around the bush and do the Lizard story. And let's hope they don't cram three stories in one like they did in that horrible Spider-Man 3. casting for Eddie Brock Jr. was bad. Also Aunt May needs to take a severe backseat this time around, she was way too preachy in the 3rd film. Kirsten Dunst is an odd Mary Jane. It's the whole nice body weird head thing she's got going on. I'd vote for a re-cast on her. Someone like Rachel Hurd-Wood (Perfume: The Story of a Murderer) would do it. Also, Vulture would be cool. Start an Adrian Toomes story line, build up to a sinister six story somewhere down the road by slowly introducing characters, like Kraven the Hunter, Rhino or Electro that would be keen to get a piece of revenge on Spidey.

Posted by: Soup on February 20, 2008 at 05:55:50

Ooooohhh Kraven the Hunter...THAT's a good story...

And Valo, anyone who enjoyed ANY Tom Tykwer movie I consider an ally.

Personally, i think that if they were to recast, here are some of my choices:

PP/Spidey - Christopher Gorham (Popular, Jake 2.0, Ugly Betty)

MJ - No particular actress, but Sophia Bush might work. Not very sure about her acting though. Evan Rachel Wood sounds good too.

Felicia Hardy - Elisha Cuthbert perhaps? i have a thing for her.

Just listing some of my thoughts.

If only Tpher Grace hadn't played Eddie Brock.
HE would be a perfect PP

...JK is great as JJJ...

...do not touch Brandy Brandt since she was supposed to be Peter's first crush in the Daily Bugle, the nerdy girl that bakes cookies, Bruce Campbell as Mysterio (would be great since all his characters in the 3 movies) have something to do related to theaters jobs/experiences, Dr. Connors (we ought to have The Lizard soon as my premise for this fourht installement would be Kraven, The Hunter goin' to New York following The Lizard to capture him for his circus and thus, while in the job, trying to capture Spidey as well)...and there you have your 2 baddies...Mysterio and Kraven and a baddie/ally(?)in The Lizard since he gets to know he is Dr. Connors and tries to help him...

...while you are at it, let Peter alone in a movie without romance and loose MJ and Gwen Stacy since she was supposed to die in the first movie instead of putting lame Kirsten as MJ and Gwen's father was supposed to die in the 2nd movie at the hands of Dr. Octopus bringin' screen time for MJ then...ohhh and Aunt May ( always hated the character), Eddie Brock ( love Venom hated the casting, but Sam never loved, learned or understanded how to work the character, hence the abomination we had in the 3rd movie...

so far these are my 2 cents...

...and please !!!...no cryin' Spidey and EMO BS this next time...!!!

Posted by: Dean on February 20, 2008 at 07:41:36

I agree with Garzo (and many others) regarding the homophobes. To those narrow minded people, please, get a grip!! Next you'll be burning 'so called Witches' at the stake!!!

Anyway, I don't agree with striking out an older actor to play Peter Parker/Spiderman altogether. Eventually, I think it would be a great thing to see. Regarding Anthony's post, I agree, I think they should go with a sort of Bond Franchise, and mixing it up. Then as time goes by, introduce olders Actors. As there are tons of stories in the Marvel Universe with Peter Parker in his mid 30's. Being a Teacher and married to the lovely Mary-Jane.

There is so much they can go with. And they could never ruin the franchise introducing new people. Things change with time.

Spidey 3 was horrible. I took my friend to see it for his birthday and I appologised as we left the theatre. You CAN make a movie without Mary Jane Watson. she's not the title character. Topher Grace is not who I picture when I think of Eddie Brock. He played the character horribly and turned him into a bad person to begin with, instead of a person who just got dealt a bad hand and had daddy issues. The Venom part was kind of cool, but it was over before it began ending with Venom blowing up? more disappointing than his Ultimate appearance.

I agree with anthony up there, treat this franchise like the bond franchise with a new director and lead actor every few movies. New characters and new points of view would keep this franchise fresh. Sam Raimi, while I love the dude, isn't the right director for this series anymore.

Bring on the Lizard, Guillermo Del Toro and Jim Sturgess as the new Peter Parker.

Oh, but you cant replace J.K. Simmons. most faithful comic character adaption period exclamation point

Posted by: pucky on February 20, 2008 at 08:17:48

Kirsten Drunkst was a horrible choice as MJ. MJ is supposed to be a total knockout while Drunkst is mediocre-looking at best.

cant wait but might not be good because of spidey 3.Itm was ****.

Spider-Man is my ultimate favorite superhero of Marvel Comics and in the world. I have been a Spider-Man fan since I was a little baby. The sexy Spider-Man film franchise has brought out the super duper best in my family and in me as well. However, J.K. Simmons is awesome as J. Jonah Jameson. He is a wonderful actor, and as J. Jonah Jameson in the sexy Spider-Man film franchise, he is charismatic as well as charming. In other words, Tobey Maguire will continue playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the future installments of the sexy Spider-Man film franchise because he is, and always will be, my personal Peter Parker/Spider-Man, my wonderful Soul Inspiration, my beautiful Endless Love, my brave and handsome Prince Charming, and most of all, my ultimate sexy and strong Super Tiger. I love Tobey Maguire with all my heart, mind, body, and soul, and my parents, brother, and I want him to maintain his role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man because he looks so brave, handsome, intelligent, sexy, and strong; inside and outside; in the sexy Spider-Man film franchise and in the universe. Ever since my parents and brother saw Spider-Man (2002) and Spider-Man 2 (2004), they have taken such a wonderful shine to Tobey Maguire, stating that he is such a lovely and talented young man; inside and outside; in the world, and I most definitely agree!

I LOVE YOU, TOBEY MAGUIRE! YOU ARE A DARLING!
LONG LIVE SPIDER-MAN!
GO GET 'EM, TIGER!

it's easy to replace the main cast but there is no one that can replace JK Simmons!

Posted by: Psyklotron on February 20, 2008 at 08:53:52

He did a great job as JJ. Personally, I hope they start off w/ a whole new film that has nothing to do w/ the Sam Raimi trilogy. Not the best in my opinion.
