Clinton, Obama & McCain Who? Here Pryce is President!
February 16, 2008
Latino Review is reporting that Jonathan Pryce ("Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy) has been cast as President of the United States in Stephen Sommer's live-action G.I. Joe adaptation at Paramount Pictures.
The site says the President has a small but integral part in the film. Pryce is joining an ensemble cast that includes Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui, Marlon Wayans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Arnold Vosloo and Christopher Eccleston.
The studio is targeting an August 7, 2009 release for the action-adventure.

I'm excited about this flick. And I love Pryce. Honestly, if this thing is as on par wiht Van Helsing, I'll be happy.

Nice casting, I like Pryce as a actor and should be interesting to see how important his role is as President, most likely giving the order to creat GiJoe.
All we need now is to see who's playing Cobra Commander, that to me is the most important role.

"Gets worse by the day. When are they going to say something that will make me want to see this?"
When casting like this guy as the president makes it "worse by the day", then you're just reaching for reasons not to like the film.

It doesn't matter who plays Cobra Commander. He's gonna be wearing a mask anyways.

from what i've been reading, there may not be a cobra commander. it seems like destro is in charge of cobra.

If cobra commander is not in it, We're all gonna be dissapointed. But lets see what they can do. I've never heard of the director Stephen Sommers. Has he made anything worthwhile?

I just read that on IMDB that Cobra is going to be lead by a scottish arms dealer??????
Now i'm worried.

stephen sommers made The Mummy, and The Mummy Returns, Van Helsing. The 2 Mummy films were Ok,but Van Helsing was a big turd

Destro is the Scottish Arms dealer, Cobra commander is not in this movie right now, he may make a behind the scenes apperance in the ending. I'm more worried about Marlin Wayans doing a bad job by playing some silly character. He needs to be seriouse in this movie
Posted by: snkeyez55 on February 16, 2008 at 13:37:01
First of all there is no Cobra without the Commander, Second Destro is the Arms Dealer, not the person responsable to over take the world even though he´s under a mask the personality he would carry is special( ya know Hail COBRA!!!!), Third Marlon Wayans character won´t be that much in the middle of the film cause it will surround General Hawk, Duke, Scarlett, Flint(if there is one casted in the film), Roadblock, & Snake-Eyes basically the original characters of GIJOE, Forth Stephen Sommers well yes he was involved in The Mummy Movies(lil good)and Van Helsing(was full of snot), but he´s not that new..., And finally let´s pray they don´t make the best ficticious Armies into one pile of crap...

I believe the reason Cobra Comander has "not been cast" is because they're going for some kind of mystery reveal as to the Comanders identity. Like we'll see him throughout but not know he's the guy.

Marlon Wayans? What is this a comedy? Can we please not include any Wayans brothers in any movies anymore please?

Hasn't it been more or less confirmed that
the character played by Gordon-Levitt eventually becomes Cobra Commander
?Am I making that up? Has it been debunked?

I've said this on other boards and I'll say it again, this is an art form, people! It changes according to the artist, none of you are going to be completely thrilled with anything that happens in this movie 'cause you aren't the ones producing it! If you don't like it, get a job in Hollywood and come up with your own version. Anyway, I'm betting they've got somebody for the commander that could surprise people (maybe). Anyway, I like the cast so far, I can see most of these actors in the parts pretty well. I hope I have annoyed the guy's running this site too much, cause I can still see where you're coming from. I just think you need more patience.

Stick to what made these comics and show great! Does anyone remember He Man with the guy from Rocky 4? They changed that all around and when they were done with that, knowbody recognized it! It bombed!

cobra commander better in this movie. There has to be its like having the transformer movie with out optimus or megtron. The mummy's were good better than I thought. Didnt know he directed Van Helsucked. He has some making up to do for that one.
