More X-Men Origins: Wolverine Updates!

In addition to the news that Danny Huston is playing William Stryker in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, we received some more interesting bits on Friday.
First up, and this part gets spoilerish, comes news from FilmSchoolRejects.com that we might be seeing The Blob in the film:
We got a note from someone who was on set this week while they shot test footage of an actor in a huge rubber suit for The Blob. The interesting part is that they made the suit to look like The Blob was about 800lbs, but producers want to make him bigger, something like 1200lbs. I did some research (as I am not too familiar with The Blob's history) and I found that he was around 500lbs. originally.
Also, IESB is now saying that the role of Silver Fox has not gone to Maggie Q or Michelle Monaghan. Instead, expect fellow Texan Lynn Collins (filmography) in the role.

I don't think she'll make a good Silver Fox. She doesn't look like her. At least certainly not in this pic.

The blob will be AWESOME to see in a movie!

Blob oh heck yea! I hope Silver Fox works out good in the movie too!

I actually don't really care for the Blob in "wolverine". He has nothing to do with the character and will almost certainly end up as a string of fat jokes

When are DUMB FOOLS going to realize that it has NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW SOMEONE LOOKS THAT DETERMINES WHETHER OR NOT THEY WILL PULL THE ROLL OFF? Jesus Christ!

Probably the day after people learn the difference between 'roll' and 'role'...

Man, I hope Deadpool is in this. I'll be stoked.

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool? Hmmm...Also as long as I eventually get to see Blob vs. Juggernaut I'm good.

The problem with this lady playing Silver Fox is that Silver Fox is not the character's 'code name,' that IS her name--she's Native American. You don't cast an Anglo girl with red hair as an Indian. Doesn't work. If she is, in fact, Silver Fox, then we must trust the decision and give her a fighting chance, but by this photo alone...meh.

The Blob!!.Great!!Cant wait to see this movie!!

I am a little intrested in the Blob part of the story, after all it couldn't be any worse then the week fight against Sabertooth in the X-movies. As for Silver Fox I think they picked the wrong person for the part but only time will tell.

Actually, Silver Fox isn't Native American, she's Blackfoot, who primarily resided in Canada. This actress needs to get one serious sunburn to look like a Blackfoot.
Posted by: Ellis on February 16, 2008 at 08:01:08
Actually, Blackfoot is still Native American. Native American is a race which includes Canada because it's still America. Blackfoot is just a tribe within that race. And I agree, if you're going to put a character in a movie, don't change something that is so vital to them. Xmen movies have been killin' me by doing away with the ethnic diversity that makes the story and characters unique.

i really hope gambit is in this movie

JUST GIVE US A DEADPOOL CAMEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
one scene... just ONE SCENE, thats all Im asking. but if they want to make the whole movie about him, then thats fine too :)

"Native American" is a misnomer that's only used in the United States. Up here in Canada we used to refer to them as Indians but now use 'First Nations people', which underlines the fact that the Blackfoot, Algonquin, Cree, etc, were all unique societies and not this 'one big segmented tribe', which we "superior" white people were brought up to believe. Anyhow, I do agree that the diversity in the X-Men films hasn't been grand. And, yes, if you're gonna act the part, you should try to look the part.

Is it just me or does anyone else think they should find a Native American actress for Silver Fox?
Posted by: LucaS! on February 16, 2008 at 11:34:48
Isn't Silver Fox Native American?

Y'know wot? If they could make Angelina Jolie look "black" for the Daniel Pearl movie, then they oughta be able to do the same for dis ya gyal! Although this is - yet again - another example of stealth racism...

Deadpool should be in ALL marvel movies. ALL. besides, if you're going to bring up all this weapon X program stuff, I mean the least you could do is throw in deadpool
Posted by: anteros on February 16, 2008 at 12:58:27
"DUMB FOOLS" indeed. There are too many kids who only have to see the physical resemblance of a character to get their jollies. Sometimes race matters to a character, sometimes it doesn't. they could always change the back story of a character to suit their needs. She's not that major a character.
What's with all the stupid comments about Deadpool? These are the fans that made X3 profitable.

Re: Ellis
"Native American is a race which includes Canada because it's still America."
ahem... with all due respect... only an American would say that. You probably meant to say North America in terms of the entire continent. Canada is Canada... not America.
