Michael Bay Has Written Transformers 2
Source:Rotten Tomatoes, IESB
February 12, 2008

Transformers 2 director Michael Bay told Rotten Tomatoes at the Visual Effects Society awards that he's already written the sequel and will pass on his script to the screenwriters, who are coming off of the strike:

"I've been writing Transformers 2," said Bay. "We've got our characters all designed. I always write all my scripts, my movies anyway so at least I've got something to give the writers. It's like a template. We have a really good outline so I worked on that." It might be a tad unorthodox, but Bay has high pressure demands. "We had to because I want to make my date. I'm not going to let the strike take me down."

Bay also spoke to IESB, who he assured that we won't be seeing Dinobots in the follow-up. ILM's Scott Farrar also told the site that there will be a lot more robots this time and that the animatics look amazing so far.

Transformers 2 is scheduled for a June 26, 2009 release.

Someone please boot this glammy hack back to MTV and get a real filmmaker to save our beloved franchise. Man, only Michael Bay could screw up something as good as Transformers.

Posted by: Mike on February 12, 2008 at 23:09:42

michael bay only knows special effects, not story lines. someone please inform him of this

Posted by: HMack on February 12, 2008 at 23:34:28

ok so no dinobots.......something a little fun? Contructicons?

Megatron turning into Galvatron?

Just a hint. Please.

Give me a great- talk about being cocky... you're only good as the people you surround yourself with.. he's letting this go to his head

Posted by: slapsta on February 12, 2008 at 23:52:03

i thought michael bay did a very good job with the 1st one, so as long as he gets proper writers to fix his version itl be fine.

if you guys think he did a bad job directing the 1st then i dont know what u expect from films

The first film wasn't bad. It was a mix of all genres of the Transformers Universe. The sooner the people complaining realize that, the better they will be.

It sucks there will be no Dinobots, but there are a few others that can peak people's interest. Soundwave anyone? How about Shockwave? Jetfire/Skyfire? Constructicons? Improved look of Megatron and Starscream?

We have to remember, things that didn't go well, or fans didn't like in the first one movie, can be corrected in the sequal. So, relax.

you know what.....
i swear micheal bay is a ****ing moron!!!

also i forgot to mention that someone needs to inform mr bay that a writer writes a director directs and thats that. if for some reason you are the exception and you mr bay happen to strike gold then yeah maybe thats cool. but you are not mr bay as a matter of fact you are a great special effects director at best. i mean you are gonna **** a big smelly one all over a t.v. icon series that has defined the lives of many geeks over the years!!! HELLO PLEASE SOMEONE CALL HARRY KNOWLES AND BEG HIM TO HELP STOP MICHEAL BAY FROM CONTINUING THIS BULL****!!!
OK i have vented i am done...lol

You guys *****ing on here obviously have no background in cinematography and have no idea what a director truly does. Michael Bay is a master of this craft. Every movie he has made in the past 10 years has been excellent! The only thing wrong with the first transformers movie was how they ****ed with HugoWeavings megatron voice...why pay a big actor if your gonna mess up his voice to beyond recognizable. And the fight scenes were to close in...hard to tell what was going on, but thats his film for ya, thats his shooting style. I thought it was spectacular, and i am a self described 'transformers geek' as well. Next stop....BeastWars!!!

Yay, another crappy, soulless, GMC commercial with a scattered storyline, cardboard characters, and masturbation jokes. Just what I want. [sarcasm]

Someone tell this hack he needs to go back to making music videos and leave REAL movie making to professionals.

I think mike bay did a great job with Transfromers.Like dan said this isn't his first movie. He is an artist let the pros do there job.Later ed ps Prime rules

Posted by: Laserbeak on February 13, 2008 at 01:35:42

I have no comments for this sequel....cos i can list you a million of things that I dislike from the first transformers!!!.....all i gotta say.....**** Michael Bay!!!! Get a real director who cares and understands the concept of transformers.

Posted by: Tony on February 13, 2008 at 01:52:38

In my opinion, the original transformers was okay. Special effect movies seem to be made for HD or Bluray. So if you're like me with An average dvd player then you'd probably won't enjoy it as much. I saw the movie on bluray n' it changed my movie viewing experience. but the movie was still just ok.

Directors often have a basic 'beat outline' for he writers to work from. That's all the article says he did, an outline. The rest is up to the screenwriters. As for all you guys complaining about how he ruined you life and childhood, get over yourselves. Film making is an art form and unless I'm way off, art is ALL ABOUT INTERPRETATION! Actually, if you guys are really desperate to blame somebody, blame Steven Spielberg, it was his idea to bring in Bay in the first place, producers pay the bills. If the movie sucked (I thought it was awesome.) it's actually the producers fault. I think the hierarchy of blame goes something like: producers, writers, directors, actors. If the movie sucked, think about who you're blaming. Make sure it's the right people. Bay changed things, get over it. He didn't make the STORY suck.

Please give us Skywarp and Thundercracker... please

I've been a fan of transformer for over 20 years. Bay's transformers was awesome! I can't wait for this next one. All you haters just want to sound cool by complaining.

Posted by: SpideyFreak on February 13, 2008 at 02:31:57

All of you over exagerate how great the ORIGINAL transformers was compared to the movie. I have never really liked transformers all to much until I seen the movie. the movie killz the cartoon! I was always more of a beast warz fan though. props to michael bay for surviving without the writers.

Posted by: Angel on February 13, 2008 at 02:33:04

I've loved comics & sci-fi all my life . But guys, even as a hardcore fan, NO WAY IN HELL Id wanted to see Wolverine in yellow spandex or Megatron as a giant cannon. Give Michael Bay credit, he translated a cartoon into a live action film & did it beatifully. You have got to be smoking crack if youd expect cartoons & comics be taken seriously even for us fans if they get translated to live action as it is to the big screen, so stop *****ing!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Blade13 on February 13, 2008 at 03:52:29

I thought Micheal Bay did a great job with Transformers. I can't wait till the 2nd one comes out. You should be thankful that a director like Joel Schumacher didn't get his hands on it
Oh and I totally agree that Optimus Prime rules!!!

Posted by: Dancel on February 13, 2008 at 04:10:50

I dont understand all this complaining. the transformers movie was the closest thing to the generation one transformers since it began. tell me the last time peter cullen actually voiced optimus prime after g1 or jazz having a visor and bumblebee being yellow again? if you are a real g1 fan you will know that this is the closest as it gets back to the 80's.

Posted by: Kumar on February 13, 2008 at 05:30:47

Its a funny thing that everyone who is complaining about 'Transformers 2' is going to watch it anyway :D
Why can't you just shut up?

Posted by: Jimmy on February 13, 2008 at 06:04:50

Here are some facts:
1. I am a Transformers geek
2. The transformers movie was OK. Not superb, not terrible. Just OK
3. Bay is one of the worst directors in history
4. If we all want Transformers 2 to be one of the best action films ever they need to drop Bay and hand it over to Mr Spielberg. Simple.

So everyone stop arguing and start SHOUTING really loudly that we want Steven Spielberg to direct this movie. Not that Bay will hear us, how could he hear anything with his head so far up his own ass? Any man who releases a podcast to the fans saying 'Why hotrod flames on Optimus Prime? Because I WANTED THEM' is obviously a cock!
