On the third pic, those legs on Bats look awful. :

Other then that, I can't wait to see this flick!

Is it just me, or does Christian Bale look a little lighter than he did in Batman Begins? . . . even in the bat suit . . .

Do the costume designers sit down and try to stray as far away from the classic batman costume as much as possible? I understand the armor aspect but really, if that thing were glowing blue it'd belong in Tron.

I think it looks pretty cool. Plus, I heard the new suit is even more flexible than the old, granting Bale greater freedom of movement in the fight scenes. If Batman were to br as unarmored as he is usually portrayed in the comics I wouldn't bother with the movie. Batman wants to protect himself as much as possible, allowing him to keep fighting criminals as long as possible. He's going to put A LOT of money into upgrading his arsenal. It makes perfect sense.

he does look thinner though.

No I completely understand the armor aspect, it's not practical at all to run around in a cloth suit for hardcore fighting, but in some comics and novels his cape was supposedly made out of kevlar. I just figure there could be a way to make the armor look a bit less sci-fi and I guarantee he couldn't even do a proper sit-up in that suit. they said the additional movement was mostly for his head so he could turn it more.

I can't wait for this movie....

yeah. it ain't practical to run around in cloth...but Batman does it all the time. I'm looking forward to Dark Knight...but the reek of re inventing a perfectly good wheel is not far away.

is it just me, or is bats looking more like hawkman with the new cowl?

Posted by: Koh-Tahl on February 17, 2008 at 15:33:46

couple things to comment on here:
first of all, the glowing blue thing, those are cop lights dumbass.
second, I am a firm beleiver that in live action, he needs an armored suit, it just doens't work any other way to be beleiveable, but in drawn form, the suit should be cloth. the two medims are so vastly different that you need to make sure the suit looks correct, and by that i mean fit within the realm of reality, for that medium.
in short i think if you're going to be checking out Batman's legs during a movie, you have issues. the dude doesn't stay still for too long in a nolan movie, so as long as it fits with Nolan's world, then it's fine with me

Uhhh, Koh-Tahl...

He said IF that thing were glowing blue it would belong in Tron. A reference to the bizzare lines and grooves in the new suit, which give a similar appearance to the Tron outfits, sans glow.

l2read plz

The suit is like a suit of armour, equal to that of the medieval knights, also called dark knight remenber?

Posted by: JimJam on February 18, 2008 at 16:18:27

I think he may be a little smaller, but it may be for agility purposes...he supposedly is more active in this one...i.e. the new suit design. The best part is i'm sure they'll make mention of it in the movie, Nolan is real good about explaining why things are the way they are instead of starting with a character who has infinite gadgets and we just assume because he's a billionaire he can have these, like the original series.

I LOVE THE NEW SUIT.... the only thing that tears me apart is the chest... the entire chest...

REDESIGN THE CHEST & I WILL STOP COMPLAINING

I don't mind his new suit, I wasn't too impress with it the first time I saw it but hey, I had the same impression with the Batman Begins suit. So as long as it does look like it's practicle in the movie then it's fine by me. An now that I think about it, I think it looks like a manga ninja style suit. So I think it will look pretty cool in action just like begins did?

Posted by: batman on February 25, 2008 at 17:42:19

folks let's just all relax.the is supposed to be in the real world..and also nolan said that it would be more reality-based than the other batman films..i am sure that THE DARK KNIGHT will be as good as BATMAN BEGINS...after all Wayne changes the suit during the movie for some reason..this is exciting

Posted by: Jack Napier on February 25, 2008 at 19:43:57

btw...I don't mean to spoil anyone's day, but the suit gets dipped in liquid titanium in the sequel giving it a silver/gray hue...and it has flashing blue lights (lol)--the first part is true, though

Posted by: MonkeyUke on February 25, 2008 at 21:33:34

As far as the suit design, remember that most of the movie is shot in the dark, because he is, well, batman, so for the most part, it probably won't even be noticable. Like, we know its there, but we can retend it isn't because we can't see it, like the stings on Superman. Speaking of Superman, maybe, like in the book Return of the Dark Knight, maybe batmand and Superman will have a kick-butt fight! (I wish).

Posted by: MonkeyUke on February 25, 2008 at 21:34:27

**Batman** and Superman, etc, etc...

Posted by: BLEST on February 26, 2008 at 03:46:30

Dude...he looks like Willem Defoe in that last pic.

That sucks, I loved the whole aspect from Begins of:"Batman is powerful because he does pushups." where you could see that he was buff and ready to fight.

He looks all cracked out here.

Posted by: dmac on March 7, 2008 at 10:30:12

He got down to about 130 when he did the Machinist. Then immediately he had to gain the weight back for this movie. I assume some performance enhancers where involved, but now that he is back to a healthy weight he is probably off them and that is his normal size plus it is harder to move around when you are carrying more weight on your boby than your bone strcture can support and I imagine he dose some of his own stunts.
