Two Villains in Superman: Man of Steel
August 4, 2007
A user on BlueTights' The Planet Forum got a chance to meet Superman: Man of Steel co-writer Michael Dougherty at the U.S. Capitol and asked him about the sequel:
I asked him if he was a part of the sequel because everything I have seen says [Bryan] Singer and [Dan] Harris are writing the script and that he isn't mentioned. He confirmed that he is writing it with the two just like the last picture. I then expressed to him that I was hoping the delays of Superman: The Man of Steel weren't true. He said that they were on track and that the goal is still to have the movie out in the Summer of 2009. He seemed a little hesitant about it but did his best to try and reassure that it will get done by then. I asked if he could give any more info on the film. He responded, "There are TWO villains," and he smiled.
Brandon Routh is returning in the title role for the Warner Bros. release.

I'm pretty sure it will be lex in the second. As for the other well I don't think it would be worth it if it wasn't Doomsday!!! Come on give it to us already !!! I mean the two of them completely ripping apart the city the way it should be done unlike Hulk where it was a block and a building still cool, but expected more. I know they already did a cartoon version but I felt that was week to begin with, way too rushed. Many have him kill his kid or something so we can finally see supe go off!!! And on a side note any body think abomination looked a lot like Dooms day?

It's way too soon for Doomsday. If you rush it, you get Bane from Batman and Robin. Besides, Doomsday would be a good visual, but nobody wants two hours of smash, smash, smash. Then you end of with The Matrix Reloaded. Brainiac would be nice, Parasite, Bizzaro, Mongul. It also sounds like they are going to rush the movie as well, which can only end badly. They need to dump the last movie and move forward.

Incredible Hulk annoyed me. The fight scene with Abomination was just ridiculous. I was wondering how long will this dread continue T.T
And Abomination was supposed to be stronger than the hulk. How did Hulk beat him by strangling him with a chain T.T

once again for those who missed it i really think a superman sequel has a lot of potential we have a five year gap were he was not on the planet earth he is traveling the universe in search of krypton. thats two stories in one you could do a flashback were he meet mongoul on warworld meanwhile back on earth he fights metallo. after he defeats mongoul (set up for the 3rd movie) he makes his way to krypton and awakens doomsday and/or discovers kandor and unkowningly brings brainiac back to earth who helps him defeat metallo to gain his trust and tricks him in to thinking there friends.(i can see it now a sinister glare at the camera by brainiac just before the credits roll) that just a plot the writer can bring emotion and all that other crap out of the story.

lex and bizarro!i think he kept a shard of kryptonite with supe's blood on it!here comes the evil clone!!or brainiac, ala the giant still forming planetoid that he threw out in space, which has the crystals that hold all that kryptonian knowledge!maybe we'll see!

Ohh ohh ohh! I just got Action Comics 866 and think they should go with the latest, crazy robot version of brainiac. He's so badass. He's like stabbing people in the head with these little metal nozzels, it's awsome.
Posted by: Trick/Kent on July 3, 2008 at 18:47:46
Also I wouldn't mind if the movie started out with a brief fight with a "lower villian" like parasite or metallo bef7x9ore the heavy stuff starts.

NOOOOOOOO WAY should it be Doomsday. It's way to early for that. How can you revamp this franchise by killing him, cuz thats what Doomsday ultimately does. I really hope they use villians like Metallo or Darkseid. There you go, a perfect alternative to Doomsday, Metallo and Darkseid. I just hope they stay away from Lex Luthor, cuz unless they plan to give him that Kryponite suit, I don't think anyone wants to sit for another 2 hours looking a Superman "ALMOST" die from a green rock.

The Last Superman was a joke! He is supossed to be the ultimate superhero...Bryan Singer Killed the x-men and he's killing supe's....There is no way Lois Lane could has Superman's kid and why bring that into the story now!!! and he's got astma!!!!!
The new movie should have someone to push superman to the limits in all areas AND WE THINK IT SHOULD BE DARKSEID ......lex is so boring now there are so many other's to choose from,Oh and the new writers should listen to the comic book forum and maybe they will have a winner...Come on DC, Marvel have got it right so should you!!!

I would liked to see metallo¶site or the toyman and singer film with luther and back scene and when he going to bring Lexcorp and the picture. The finale is bringing brainac, doomsday, mongul, lobo, darkseid

I don't think the powers that be, at DC, are paying attention. I see a lot of really good idsas here and still nothing is announced or they just do whatever they want to, assuming that people will still come to see the movie because it's Superman. He's my favorite but I don't like the direction Singer is taking him in. I liked the Return movie simply because it's Superman. Once the reality sinks in I realize how Singer really Blew it.
I would like to see DOOMSDAY in a Third movie. I would like to see Brainiac and Bizzaro. I hope Bizzaro is a Luthor created clone and not from another planet.
IF they ever do a DOOMSDAY movie they should have the movie END with Superman's death and funeral. DO NOT BRING HIM BACK IN THE SAME MOVIE!!!!!! ..........GOD, THAT IS SO LAME!!!
Bring him back in number 4. I'll bet you'll have MILLIONS OF ASSES in the seats!!!!. Why have they done so many "Death of Superman" stories only to bring him back in the same story. Superman-DOOMSDAY would have been SO MUCH better if they had ended it with Superman's death. I'm SURE people would buy a sequel DVD.
Get It RIGHT DC.

Doomsday & Mongul would be bad choices. Writing them into the story would be difficult.
Brainiac or Bizzaro would be easier to write in, and would provide good special effects. I am hoping for Brainiac! They could make ammends for Smallville's screw-up on the character.

WOW! This post has been up for 6 days and has only 20 comments... GEEZ! No one cares about Superman anymore! I can't blame 'em actually... Superman Returns blew watermelon seeds!!!

There is only 1 thing I want out of the next Superman movie and that is for it to NOT SUCK!!!Although I hate Superman in the comics(he's a big p$ssy imo) with a passion. A man with the ability to literally move the earth and do other things should turn out into a good movie. For crying out loud, the writers have decades of writing material. The movie should write itself one would think...but alas. All we ever get is Lex Luthor. Can we just put in Doomsday so he can whack the big S? Maybe that would save us the pain of seeing another 1

You can't kill Big Blue. Where's the love?
Posted by: Victory on August 11, 2008 at 08:49:15
If one of them is real estate obsessed Lex Luthor, I won't be wasting my dollars on this, same thing for General Zod, Ursa and Non. Been there, done that. Bryan Singer should watch the DARKSEID centric episodes of Timm & Dini's Superman, The Animated Series and Justice League and realize why DC's top villain should clash with history's first and arguably greatest superhero of all.
The only reasons I'm not clamoring for a super revamp is that X-2 is second only to The Dark Knight for me among comic book adaptations, and I love ubersexy Kate Bosworth. The Crow and Spider-Man are tied for third. Make us trust U again Bry, or make way for Millar!

OK how the hell did we bring up the Incredible Hulk on a Superman: Man of Steel forum?? Anyone? Anyone? Here on two different notes; I dont care who the villians in the superman sequel are, as long as Superman atleast throws some damn punches on them and we can see how hard he can "supposedly" hit... and the Incredible Hulk, was an awesome movie.. Abomination is stonger than Hulk, but Hulk gets stronger the madder he gets.. so, yes he can be choked out with a huge metal chain...
