Armored car wsa a repainted Dundar truck stored in the Old Chicago Post Office (the bldg shown) with patrol cars and other vehicles. several other sets, incluiding the Gotham MCu, were also built and housed here. Inside, the Historic Lobby was easily converted into ban teller stations, with a mock revolving door and 2nd (hollow) bus on a hydraulic ram to plot though it. Straight up the lobby was the Bank president's office (constructed) and to the right the old P.O. boxes doubling as safety deposits, and the mock vault. The penthouse was at 115 East Wacker, carved out of half of the 1st floor. Security guards at the sites were giving away guided tours, both of the Penthouse and the OCPO bank and other sets, including allowing photographers almost unrestricted access after hours. There's a rumor that the batmobile was joy-rided by a guard - as happened with the first film - something I can readily believe. Lots of photos are floating around. A copy of the shooting script is also out there, somewhere.

The armored car was a repainted Dunbar truck - you can see the sign outline if you look closely on HD - stored in the basement of the historic Old Chicago Post Office (the bldg. shown) with patrol cars and other vehicles. Several other sets, including the Gotham MCU, also built and housed here. The drop onto the roof by stuntmen in Joker masks was also done at this bldg, with the slide wire run across Van Buren from the bldg. opposite. Inside, the old Historic Lobby was easily converted into bank teller stations, with a mock revolving door and 2nd (hollow) bus on a hydraulic ram to plow though it, ensuring shot match-up with the 'real' bus and the wooden wall built in the OCPO corner lot. Straight up the lobby from the revolving door was the Bank President's office (constructed) the old P.O. boxes doubling easily as safety deposits, and the mock vault (wooden) was built close by. The penthouse set was at 115 East Wacker, carved out of half of the 1st floor. To be marveled at here was the utter craftmanship of the guys who painted wood to double as marble and fashioned the 3-D effect on the walls using steel rods and hundreds of wooden pieces spaces to give it the 'pebbled' look. Beautiful. The fly on the half-eaten apple left on the bar was a really nice touch by someone with a sense of humor. The 'tunnel' chase scenes were shot at Upper and Lower Wacker Drive, tying up traffic like a presidential visit. This was the same 'set' Bruce wayne was taken on a guided tour of in the 1st film - complete with real homeless guys - before being dropped off at the restaurant. The 'exploding flipped-over' truck was on Lasalle. That's the Board of Trade building in the background. What was regretable in all of this was the fact that Security at the sites was giving away guided tours, including allowing photographers almost unrestricted access after hours. There's a rumor that the batmobile was hot-wired and joy-rided by a guard - as happened with the first film. Lots of set photos are floating around. A copy of the shooting script is also supposed to be out there, somewhere. Security is VITAL on a project like this and the fake working title "Rory's First Kiss" really fooled no-one, especially when the Gotham National Bank sign letters went up. All the signs about not allowing cameras and camera-phones inside the set areas were useless without search or camera confiscation authority, and construction and vending people were taking snapshots along with everyone else. Hopefully, no more of these willl see the light of day until after the premier. The best defense against profiteering by these shutterbugs would be for Warner Brothers to release an authorized "Art of Batman" or similar book with detailed shots from both films.
