November 16, 2009

Variety reports that Marvel Studios and Thor director Kenneth Branagh have signed Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson, and Tadanobu Asano to play The Warriors Three, a trio of Asgardian adventurers who fight alongside the Norse god.

Townsend plays Fandral, Stevenson is Volstagg the Valiant, and Asano plays Hogun the Grim.

They join a cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore, Samuel L. Jackson and Stellan Skarsgard. Filming is set to start in January for a May 20, 2011 release.

The guy who is Ichi the Killer and Mongol is in the Thor movie! Great!

Ray Stevenson doesnt suk at all, he has been by far the best punisher in the big screen, I hope he does a sequel as gory as war zone (maybe with a lttle treatment in the direction to make it better just like blade 2 is from Blade 1) in the near future with Baracuda, Ma' Gnucci, Finn Cooley etc.

@ shnip

how bout robin hood?

Posted by: English Dave on November 16, 2009 at 23:52:24

So I guess Ray Stevenson is The Punisher and from Asgard.

Townsend will proly be the guy in green. Asano will play the guy in blue. Stevenson will play the guy in red. i really dont know, im jus tryin to guess. great casting tho.

Dunno... but doesn't this make the whole film .... campy?

Posted by: thiswillsuck on November 17, 2009 at 00:17:03

Stuart Townsend as Fandral seems obvious, but is Ray Stevenson playing Hogun, and Tadanobu Asano Volstagg, or vice-versa? Will Stevenson's size be used for the towering Volstagg, or an imposing Hogun?

If Asano is Hogun, will we be suffering some idiotic 'Ho Gun', the visiting Chinese deity horse****?

And putting Ray Stevenson in another Marvel movie seems like a sure way to jinx it. I haven't decided whose 'fault' Punisher War Zone is, but I do know there's plenty of blame to go around.

I hope these three turn out as a good Warriors Three, and I'm excited to see them in it; I hope they the doo a great job, but that it's also not OVERLY emphasized that they are the one viable spinoff property in this film.

idk i'm sure they all can look very bad ass.

Wow... really??? Hmmm.... odd..

I just heard from a very reliable source that this film will be divided in two parts. It will be similar to Kill Bill Volume 1 and 2. I guess a one year wait between films won't be so bad. This should be Epic.

Which one is suppose to be Volstagg?
Ray Stevenson is great, but ones Japanese, and the other in a ponce. My enthusiasm for this project has suddenly waned. Gotta love it when casting can be pretty clear cut and it's almost as if the studio insist on miscasting.

Anyone who claims Ray Stevenson wasn't a good Punisher hasn't seen the movie. He IS the Punisher. But I'm positive he'll make a good Hogun (or Vostagg or maybe Fandral).

Honestly why the heck isn't Kevin McKidd in this?

Posted by: PROWISE on November 17, 2009 at 00:48:54

DeNiro is cast as Tough Guy Cop. What else can he play!Duuh! Do you People expect a great acting range from this man. When you see DeNiro in a movie , you see DeNiro first then CHARACTER'S name.

Posted by: mario on November 17, 2009 at 00:52:13

cool! but considering they amount of people cast already are they really going to have time to show them? and in what sense back in his world? or they going to fight along his side here on earth?

Posted by: Fanboiii on November 17, 2009 at 01:17:40

@PROWISE Don't be dumb. DeNiro has done movies in every genre. Don't base everything just on what you've seen.
