Wow, that is... amazing looking, this season has really been one of the best so far

It never ceases to amaze me how ridiculous this show really is. Take a look at this guy, people. He is not even buff, and looks like a 60's Star Trek reject. You true fans of the show make me sick. This is pathetic. Are you really going to sit there and go "Wow. I'm so impressed by lousy attempts at letting fanboys see cool characters completely ruined and obliterated for any other entertainment outlet. I wanted to see a brooding, buffed Hawkman, like in the comics. Not this joke of a man, dressed like a Dr. Who villain.

Now i haven't been watching Smallville for a long time especially since i saw how they butchered Martian Manhunter, but i love how they actually portray a character like he is in the comics and all you guys do is *****.....isnt that a good thing?

Looks just like the suit from the comic book. There not going to ruin Hawkman now.

I agree, the show has run its course. Be gone with it.

Sorry...but if you are going to re-envision all the other characters, you can't go with the classical Hawkman. It's inconsistent. Therefore this Hawkman sucks.

Even though hawkman is lame to begin with, this doesnt look half bad. Glad to hear they're going the Carter Hall route as well. Can't wait to see Dr. Fate.
Van huh, I think you need to get outside a bit more and re-prioritize your life and not take personal offense to forms of entertainment. You'll live longer and maybe actually make a friend or two.

LOLOLLOOOLOLOLLOLLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry. Not a fan of the show and I don't have anything against it, but that looks ABSOLUTELY pathetic! Its like something someone would have hashed together online or better yet, one of those Halloween costume superhero sets you'd buy at a supermarket or something. I've seen anime fan cosplay costumes that look better than that!
The "60's Star Trek reject" and "Doctor Who villian" comments are right on (Though DW is still respectable as Sci-Fi IMO). :-)

I would of said that the show ran its course at the end of last season but this season really brings it up a few notches.
The costume looks a bit goofy imho. It's one of the things that they should of changed in the comic to tv translation.

That is a statue. Is is probably from a Six Flags ride.
Posted by: LucaS! on November 16, 2009 at 13:46:28
Surprised they didn't "Smallvillize" his costume.

That actually looks...great. There's no question that it's Hawkman...

hey everyone who is ripping on the costume design just know that geoff johns was a large part of the way it looks and he wrote the episode. so im pretty sure this episode will melt your ugly faces off.

LOL...yeah I'll agree.Im a fan and enjoy smallville a lot but Michael Shanks looks all but taken seriously in the Hawkman get-up. The costume looks classic comic book style but Shanks looks as inspiring in the suit as Welling in his black Krypto-Neo suit. They should've used Christoher Judge from Stargate SG-1 to play Hawkman...hell they should've used the costumes from SG-1 and came up with a new Hawkman suit...all in all though...it will more than likely work and I still will watch smallville...I like it

Well, at least it's one of the few actual hero costumes we've seen on the show. That makes sense, as these heroes are supposed to have been around since WWII, and therefore have their own ideas as to how heroes are supposed to look. All of the re-imagined costumes for the newer heroes are all leather, leather, and more leather. Even the Legion appearance, as well done as that was, still had leather! I guess they were afraid to do a horrible job on people's favorite costumes, so they went the "better safe than sorry" minimalist approach. With that said, the costume looks spot on, unfortunately. I say unfortunately because Hawkman has probably one of the doofiest costumes in all of comics. I'm holding out hope for the episode, though. I hope Tom Welling doesn't butcher the second hour.

I like the costume but the dude wearing it should be waaaay more built. He looks more like he's going to a Con rather than a brawl.
Posted by: Serpentor on November 16, 2009 at 14:10:31
This guy looks like Hawkman's anarexic little sister! WTF! This shows a joke.
