Smallville Execs Pushing for Season 10
Source:Entertainment Weekly
October 28, 2009

Will we be seeing a 10th season of The CW's "Smallville"? Executive producer Kelly Souders tells Entertainment Weekly that the team behind the production hopes so.

"We are really, really pushing for season 10," Souders said, adding, "I think the word still isn't out there that we're on Friday nights. So if people keep tuning in and telling their friends about it, I think [a 10th season] is quite likely."

And will we ever get a glimpse of Clark in his iconic blue, red and yellow suit? "We think 'Smallville' from the get-go was about how a young man turns into Superman. And it's really about the journey getting there. I can't make any promises, but if it was ever going to happen, it would be at the very end," said Souders.

Season 10... Okay... I must admit that there was a let down here and there, but Smallville still has some great moments if you compare it to Heroes

I enjoy the Green Arrow, I like the chemistry between Clark and Lois... a bit bored about Chloe...

Really do hope to see the suit at least one time (instead of the Morpheus coat); and I really hope they bring Lex back for a couple of episodes in the last year, he was the best actor of the show

Up! up! and away...

Season 10 is the perfect number to end on.

I still watch the show and think its great as its ever been.

Even if you don't watch it regularly or anymore I suggest you check out the episodes Society and Legends when they are. It's a 2 parter of the Justice League vs Justice Society.

Would that make Welling the longest serving (non)Superman?

Posted by: Deadpool on October 28, 2009 at 18:23:09

I love this show been watching it from the very beginning and havent missed one episode yet!! I agree that the show has reached some speed bumps over its years but I think a season 10 would be AWESOME and would definitely be a good way to end the series. I always envisioned Smallville going all the way to a season 10 ending the series with Clark ripping his shirt at the camera revieling Superman's iconic costume and then flying away so we can see the whole costume in its glory! oh I hope this comes true!!

I hope we will have season 10 for Smallville. I have been watching this show since it started for every night.

Smallville is such a great show. I would love to see a tenth season, and I hate when people talk smack on it. It sticks more to the comics than most adaptations. I know that there's some storylines that are smudged, and maybe a little out of order, but still...its really well done, considering that its been on crappy WB/CW for 9 seasons! I can't even imagine how well it would have done if it were on a bigger network. I can't wait to see clark in the suit. I would assume that the suit will come soon. he's already pretty much superman (minus the flying...which is my ONLY complaint about the show). I am looking forward for the Justice Society episode that's coming up. Hawk Man is going to be on it! and the return of Martian Manhunter. I'm so pleased with the amount of cameos there are now. Flash, Green Arrow, Cyborg, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Black Canary, etc. People should keep watching this show! If you stopped watching 3 seasons in, then you missed the best parts! ever since season 4 it has been sooooooo good.

Well he needs to fly before he gets the suit, and since that hasn't happened yet, I have a feeling Season 10 will focus primarily on that ability (if 10 is the final season of the series that is).

MisterknowItAll: well, I guess that would make Tom Welling the longest running Clark Kent. that's still twice as much as Dean Cain did. lol

I'm with Deadpool on this. Followed the whole serie up to last week's episode. I remember clearly reading something that the original creators wanted to do: end the show with Clark Kent now Superman flying away in full suit. The new gang seem to want the same thing. I'm down with that. and like Rico said, yeah, the show had its ups and downs... but I don't know a lot of show that is on the verge of the 10-year mark that didn't get its share.

I have enjoyed this season for the most part. I am a big Superman fan and have been watching the show since it first aired. Smallville is the reason I am a Superman fan, it explained to me why Superman was a boyscout and why he makes the decisions that he does. So it doesn't go exactly by the comics, big deal; it still has had more characters from the DC comics then any other live action movie or t.v. series. It grounds the character which I like b/c I am not a big fan of him going into space. Yes I want to see the costume but not spandex. I want them to make a more updated version of the costume, something that would mesh well with the feeling of the show. And Erica Durance is the best Lois Lane ever, even if they have messed up some of her storylines. I am so sick of Chloe though, I want her gone!

Smallville is great.Sure theres been a couple of lame moments, but overall its been great. Season 10(if done) should focus on Clark actually being Superman, bring Lex back and maybe change the shows name to Metropolis.

People keep saying that they stopped watching after the first couple of seasons, it's too bad because it only got better as the seasons went on. season 3 was good, four was better and when all the other superheroes sstarted showing up brought the show to a whole new level

this is one of the best shows on tv 2day...but they di drag it a bit too far.....yes....but out another season....and yessss show us clark in the blue and reds but then....shut it down!!!! enuf is enuf you had your run....shut it down

The main reason I have stuck around so long with Smallville is Chloe. Enjoy the friendship Clark and Chloe shared but never wanted a romance between the two. I wasn't much for prequels and the like so it's nice to have a character that's unpredictable. Does she die, will she get powers again, will she stay good, will she go bad? I need to see more character appearances from the DC universe (loved the visit from the Legion) and I am guessing I am the only one who misses dear old mom...Martha Kent. She needs to visit her son.

Season 10 or not, it would be perfect if the show ended in a 2-hour event showing Clark donning the suit and taking on Lex, maybe with a few of the other villains we've seen. Season 8 was surprisingly decent, and so far season 9 has been pretty good. Sure, there's the occasional Lexmas or zombie episode, but despite its flaws, I keep watching the show. When it does things well, it's very satisfying.

I think a 10th season is looking good. The ratings are slowly improving with each episode. I think the creators plan for the tenth season to be the last.

Posted by: EddyDraks on October 28, 2009 at 19:05:00

Hated season 6 and 7, the only thing that kept me watching was that they kept giving us quick fixes, big moments like Justice League and more bad guys from the comics. I didn't want a season 8 but damn was season 8 great and season 9 has been awesome so far.

Posted by: Brandon on October 28, 2009 at 19:14:21

For the love of God plz end this show now it hasn't been good since season 5.

Posted by: jake on October 28, 2009 at 19:19:21

end the series straight into a movie, tom busts out the "s" and flys to end season 10 and pick up right where it left off ,battle darkseid or doomsday, luthor is lame already unless its rosenbaum.

Loved smallville since the start, i have every single season, dot worry people clark will wear the suit, and i think in order for him to wear glasses so lois wont recognise him, he will probably do that kiss thing like in superman 2, and it did say that they share the first true kiss this season, so this might just might start the whole secret identity for clark.

I have been with this show form the begining and the thought of not having it took look forward to one day is sad. Some things I would like to see: Perry White as editor of the Daily Planet, the Death of Tess Mercer (she is lame), Guest appearances by Martha and Kara, keep the black shirt and lose the trench coat(at least he would resemble Connor's comic book outfit). If they can't get Michael Rosenbaum to come back recast Lex! I am sure someone else can play him. I want to see black canary and Oliver hook up, and fix Martian Manhunter! How can he lose his powers and look human (duh he is martian). And of course let this guy fly already. Even if he doesnt get his red and blue suit until the end please let him fly! It was awesome in season 4 when he did.

I like Smallville despite it's problems but after nine years I'm tired of waiting for Clark to become Superman and I hate "The Blurr." The whole "When he becomes Superman the show will be over" thing is stupid at this point, do they really think people would quit watching or that they would lose viewers if Clark became Superman because I'm pretty sure the opposite would happen. If Clark doesn't become Superman at the beginning or middle of season 10 then I really have no interest in a season 10.
