No Plans for New Superman Movie
September 15, 2009
With the formation of DC Entertainment, many thought a new film in the "Superman" franchise would be one of the big things the company would concentrate on. Not so, DC Entertainment Diane Nelson told MTV:
"We actually don't have any current plans for Superman," said Nelson when asked if the new environment (and the recent legal decision regarding the character) made a "Superman" movie more or less likely in the near future... We've obviously done a lot of great things behind the property in our history, and it's a key part of the family, but we don't have current plans behind Superman," she said.
Of course this doesn't mean that there couldn't be plans tomorrow, but for now nothing is happening.

Man... They better get off their butts and start working on a new movie if they want to retain any rights they have left to the Superman franchise before Jerry Siegel's and Joe Shusters family takes back everything.
p.s. Give Routh another chance

Give superman a rest? He's only had 1 film in the last 20 years. Marvel will probably have gravity in a film by the time the Wb gets off their asses.

Yeah they have not plans because they know after loosin that court battle with the family of the creators of Superman, they realize that they now have to give them a cut of the profits.

DC is just the worst when it comes to getting their properties to the big screen. They either don't get them to the big green, are far far too slow or do a very poor job (Superman Returns.)
I was really hoping that DC would loose all control over Superman and it would be bought by someone that would actually do something good with it. Now I wish DC would loose all of their major characters. Frankly I am tired of waiting for movies and TV series that should have been done long ago.
They clearly have no respect for what they have.
I don't know if this is better or worse than Marvels diarrhea of pathetic superhero movies that they seem to be cranking out like a Chinese t-shirt factory. Fantastic four sucked, Wolverine sucked, two of the X-Men movies sucked, Spiderman has sucked (though they at least had some good moments.)

As always with this francise, too many chiefs and not enough indians. Too many people second guessing themselves to make a good Superman movie. Really sad, if they went with the ideas of Bruce Timm and crew they would make a great story for a Superman movie. Hopefully they will figure this out soon.

yes i agree with all .. DC and Warner should focus in other characteres like WW,Flash, Green Latern, even Green arrow and maybe a comedy movie about Atom.

I'd love to see Superman and Batman transfer to the Marvel universe, it would be the biggest signing in comic book history, imagine the stories they'd create INCLUDING a kick ass movie!!

Use Brandon Routh while he's still around! C'Mon.

Well if this is true then it is the dumbest thing I have heard. Here you have the most popular superhero of all time. The movies made so far have not even touched on the potential of the character. Can you imagine a superman movie with Brainiac, Metallo, or Darkseid as potential villains? We need a movie where SUperman just gets to open and kick the crap out of someone. You do that and that movie will make a ton. I say hire one of the comic writers or even Kevin Smith to write the script. Smith's script he wrote a couple years back was not bad.

No, it's hard to make a Superman movie because they overspend and try to change so much.
Get Grant Morrison to do a script. He understands the character.

The name of the company has changed, the stupidity remains the same.

I don't think this is true, I think she is just saying that because they got to keep a tight lip.
I can't see them not planning a big blue picture.

Good. I'd like to see a Superman movie, but not for a while. Returns left a bad taste in audience' mouths. They need to wait another 10 years or so and then bring it back reinvented. Like they did with Batman.

Tom Welling must be in the next Superman movie and they can jump right into a Justice League film, then explore solo heroes!

For the Love of GOD (or anything that you believe in) Is there ANYBODY AT DC capable of taking their head out of their collective A$$ and ask themselves... "What does Marvel do better?"
Please DC, I love your characters, you have great artists, talented writers, Fire your execs or the idiots that make movie deals... get your Sh.. together and DO SOMETHING ALREADY!
Mmmmm... that was a relief for me...

wow can't believe they don't have plans for a new superman movie. I'm sure mark miller can write one up in days and be bad ass. Enough with the procrastination and the love scenes (we already know superman and lois likes each other). Superman vs Doomsday and bizzaro now that's a 3hr movie i'll watch over and over.
