Looks pretty cool... I like the whole "Dark Superman" look with the trench coat serving as the cape. Not a huge fan of this show, but I might check it out this season.

Maybe we'll have a season to remember for :P

I caught a bit of season 8, and it seemed like it stepped it up a bit. Might catch a bit of this one too. But Skywarp710 is right, Supes has definitely gotta fly, and stop being a puss! Lil Bruce Wayne might be fun to throw in too, never thought of that.

~ Dark city
~ Protagonist standing on top of a building over-looking dark city
~ Protagonist dressed in all black
~ Gritty look and feel to plot and action
Okay, so they're essentially making him SuperBatman. Seriously, all he needs is the cowl and that's essentially what that promo could have been advertizing.
I mean, come on. If you're going to put him in a costume, just PUT HIM IN THE SUPERMAN COSTUME. It's what people have been waiting *nine* years for.

God! I hate how everyone keeps crying for Bruce Wayne. Bruce this, Bruce F****** that! Let a Superman Story be a Superman story

BRUCE WAYNE WILL NOT BE ANYWHERE NEAR SMALLVILLE. THEY APPARANTLY DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHTS TO HIS CHARACTER. THIS SEASON LOOKS TO BE GOOD. AS LONG AS THEY HE LEARNS TO FLY, COMPLETES HIS TRAINING, AND BECOMES SUPERMAN, THIS SEASON WILL BE A FAILURE. SHOULD BE THE LAST,ITS TIME TO BECOME SUPERMAN AND FACE THE REAL THREATS ON EARTH, NOT JUST IN SMALLVILLE AND METROPOLIS!

Might be good. Def. better than having no superhero show.

Looks like the best season so far.
Smallville fans: Don't let the vocal minority fool you. This show continues to prove itself the best Superman adaptaion of this generation.

WISH I COULD GET A CHECK FROM "VIBRANT" SINCE I TYPED THE WORD "LEARNS" AND THEY POSTED AN AD WITH IT!!! HA

im a huge batman fan . but they will not bring bruce wayne in. if they where going to do that they would have made the batman show it was between smallville and a show about batman how he became batman. so since that shows was never made they wont bring bruce wayne into smallville sorry.

Smallville is an awesome show. Yes...some episodes have sucked balls in the past but overall they have been great. I agree that he needs to start flying. I am getting bored of him running around. BTW..how come the soles on his shoes and boots never melt when he runs at super speeds? I gotta get me some of them there shoes and boots!

I agree with Loxley just put him in the real Superman costume
Posted by: friendly neighborhood on August 21, 2009 at 12:32:39
looks cool, bot I got bored of this show. It's like, they're teasing you 'til the last minute and then they dissapoint you. He should fly since at least season 5 and the trenchcoat is just another way for the producers to introduce the costume since Tom Welling said he'd never put the real costume on. Anyway, maybe it is the bast adaptation of superman in our generation, but they're slow in developing the characters, that's why I got bored in the first place... I'll check into it, but maybe not for the whole season.

Seriously, the CW can not come up with something new and better, that this show keeps getting picked up?
Posted by: booksmart devil on August 21, 2009 at 12:36:07
not to disappoint, but he won't be flying, yet. apparently it will be explained in the 1st episode this season. otherwise, i'm really looking forward to this season; it looks awesome! especially the "S" and elseworld suit. BRING IT!

TOM and ERICA should be in the next SUPERMAN movies!!!!!!

Friday's are where tv shows go to die.. I hope this isn't case. Got a lot of high hopes for this season of smallville....

won't lie. i was a huge, huge fan when i heard about Smallville coming out all those years ago. it's been a pretty decent show throughout it's whole course so far. i believe what's saved it from failing overall tho was indeed the many cameos by heroes and villains alike. i enjoyed season six mainly b/c of the whole justice league storyline. didn't care much for season 7. what made season 8 decent was doomsday. i didn't like how they made him tho... zod's son? please. changing the origins of characters we know is kind of a slap in the face. i only watched a couple episodes from season 8 for that reason. that an no michael rosenbaum to play luthor. he was awesome in that role. it made me want to not hate lex. pray that season 9 will be good, and that clark will finally fly, other than the season 4 opener...

Say what you want but Last season was teh best for Smallvile in a long time (except for the finale).
I hope this season can match or even suprass it.

This is the MOST UNFAITHFUL show to the reference material by far. It's a diluted, bastardized take on Superman mixed with 90210/Dawsons Creek. Get that through your thick skulls! The show sucks and it's ending because it sucks. Watch this crap at your own peril, it's just a concoction by WB's marketing department and writers who could give a rats ass about Superman. This is why you are seeing everything thrown in out of continuity and making no sense whatsoever. **** like Green Arrow and Aquaman and anything else that WB can think of to fill this crappy shows timeslot.

Freaking awesome!!!! Let the new season begin!

I'm not normally one to contradict, but I just feel I need to point out to @Snorkllz that CBS's Friday block has been one of the highest rated primetime blocks for the last 3 years.

End season 9 and start work on a movie followup.
