First Look at Brian Austin Green as Metallo
Source:TV Guide
August 18, 2009

TV Guide has posted this first look at Brian Austin Green as John Corben/Metallo in the upcoming two-episode arc on "Smallville" starting with the September 25 premiere.

The look will undoubtedly draw comparisons to "Iron Man" movies, and executive producer Kelly Souders' comments aren't helping. She says the character, with a heart made of kryptonite, is "a rough version of Metallo, a first attempt at the technology, and eventually he'll get sleeker." Souders added that "We're actually throwing some ideas around right now in the hopes that we might be able to bring him back for another episode."

Looks like something from Aliens

Posted by: PhanBoy on August 18, 2009 at 10:12:57

Well i think as long as he ends up a cyborg instead of some guy in armour then it will be fine and not to similar to Iron Man

Posted by: Logan San on August 18, 2009 at 10:15:33

Very similar to Iron man...DC sucks!!!!!

Posted by: Jor-EL on August 18, 2009 at 10:17:41

HOLY SHIIIIT...! That LOOKS JUS SIMPLY BAD ASS.!

Posted by: Kryptonian on August 18, 2009 at 10:18:04

Wow, he's lost weight since his stint against the Terminators in The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I suppose this is a nice gesture for the fans since THAT show was cancelled by the bad guys. Keep Metallo for more episodes, but BRING IN BRUCE WAYNE !!!!!!

Posted by: PhanBoy on August 18, 2009 at 10:24:15

looks like there is something up with his left arm to

Why did they have to give it a round shape similar to Tony Starks's repulsor tech from Iron Man? It's common sense. Fanboys won't stop making comparisons now.

Sweet. Hope this year is ACTUALLY worth watching. The last three seasons have been less than satisfactory, and mediocre storytelling at best. Let's get back to the sorts of arcs we had in seasons 4 and 5 please. And I sure hope that they do Metallo right. Anymore they're just throwing other characters in there for the fun of it, and ultimately never have any relevance for anything..
here's hoping for that Green Lantern movie coming soon, right guys?

Logan San: ah...shut up. Metallo was created BEFORE Ironman anyway, you dipstick!
Metallo-1959, Ironman-1963.

@Logan San

Obviously you dont know much about Metallo then, since hes a robot powered by a shard of kryptonite in his chest whos only goal is to kill superman. Now I will admit, that it looks a little similer to starks super generator in his chest, but one is a homicidal robot and one is a guy in a suit of power armor, its just a coincedence that they both happen to have their power sources in the chest area.

Anyway, looks pretty badass, I can see that his arm is all mechanical, hopefully we'll get to see him with the skin torn off.

Metallo : "Is it better to be Metallo or Tony Stark and I'd say, is it too much to ask for both ?!"

Posted by: shadow complex on August 18, 2009 at 10:31:07

looks kinda dark..hoping smallville takes that route need to darken up the show a little, its too family-like sometimes

Posted by: shadow complex on August 18, 2009 at 10:33:33

oh and metallo had his power source located on the chest way before all you guys saw iron man the movie so they're not jockyn iron man theyre just stickin to the the comics

Posted by: That-Guy on August 18, 2009 at 10:36:51

LMAO. This show is such crap. He looks like he's got a giant metal spider on his chest.

Posted by: comicfan1129 on August 18, 2009 at 10:38:15

Looks like the new Whiplash. And before some wanna-be jack hole starts quoting dates,I said he LOOKS like the new Whiplash.I'm sure they could have given Metallo his own look.

Posted by: Klutch on August 18, 2009 at 10:38:59

Journalist : "Mister Metallo, they call you the Tony Stark of our time, what do you think of that ?"

Metallo : "Absolutely ridiculous I'm not rich"

Posted by: Lobo on August 18, 2009 at 10:44:19

I guess everyone complaining about it being too Iron-manesque is unaware that's exactly where Metallo's Kryptonite is supposed to be?

Posted by: Rodrigo on August 18, 2009 at 10:45:40

He banged Megan Fox,I HATE him. But he does look good,Ill admit.

I think season 9 of Smallville will mark the end of the series and mark the begining of the new movie,a sequel to the show. Thats why they wont renew Rouths contract. They cant use Superman's origins now and Smallville has already established that. I think the movie should feature the actors from the show and it'll give Tom Welling a chance to star in a decent film. Or let Sam Worthington play an older version of Welling's character. They use shots of Gotham City from Batman Begins in the show, that might be a producer hint. Smallville is THE perfect opportunity for new movies and could actually save Superman in WB and DC from the creators greedy family.

@Raven0207
I agree! The first thing that came to mind was those aliens hatchlings (Im sure they have a name).

Posted by: Pearlman on August 18, 2009 at 10:52:33

C'mon guys, there's no need to be such smart ass, we KNOW that Metallo has his power source on his chest, but the design reminds ARK technology, the "factoy background" reminds Stark's prison in the beginning of the film, sweaty and beared Brian Austin Green reminds Stark after his accident. And you know that Smallville is frenquently inspired by recent movies, like Cloverfield for Chloe's wedding episode ! Yeah we know you know comics, but do you know Smallville ?!

Posted by: TheOtherKyle on August 18, 2009 at 10:53:29

About a couple weeks back, I was wondering why I never gave this show a chance.

Now I see why.

That looks amazingly cheesy.

Haha, I always thought the three episodes I watched were bad; I guess the series is the same way. From what I remember, this show is like the OC for Superman fans.

@prozac-pedro: The name you're looking for is face-hugger, or face-f**ker. Haha

Posted by: 106MADHATTER106 on August 18, 2009 at 11:15:55

to the people that says DC sucks because he is like iron man a little info for you Metallo was created 4 years before iron man

Posted by: GreenNinjaN on August 18, 2009 at 11:27:06

His chest looks like a cross between Iron Man and a face-hugger from Aliens. God DC is so ****ing cheesy.

Posted by: Jasonicus on August 18, 2009 at 11:27:39

At least he's still working. Would have been nice if it was TSSC instead, but whatever.
