I am looking forward to this movie, but these pix are no big deal. Actually kind of lame.

Scarlett looks awesome. I love the style and look of the film. Very Sky Captain as "cool" pointed out.

Oh come on, woohoo it's their faces with hue and saturation alterations, we've never seen those before ;P

Show us the Spirit already!

Jesus, How many guys claimed first! What is this kindergarten?

I'm pretty unimpressed, the second image is fine and Jackson looks good in the first. But what the hell is up with the silhouettes in that image? Was the guy drawing them drunk - very jagged.

...but no picture of the titular character?

still cool, though.

Posted by: ace of knaves on April 12, 2008 at 07:25:03

I wonder how many more people are going to compare this to sin city or 300? its a film adaptation of a graphic novel, this is how its supposed to look!

Posted by: Nastyman on April 12, 2008 at 07:49:21

tO "COOL" on the first page. Sky Captain? I think ur the only one who saw that crap

Posted by: The Spirit on April 12, 2008 at 08:46:41

Ok so the first 21 comments are a bunch of men crying about how they didnt show us anything or oh look the did a hue saturation on the picture. Big deal guys...its called marketing. As much as all of you obsessed fan boys go crazy over one of these movies wether your picking it apart as soon as it is greenlite or you find one you like and cant shut up, STOP. WHO CARES IF IT LOOKS LIKE SIN CITY!!!! We all liked Sin City and Frank Miller had alot of involvment with SIN CITY so please stop whining and lets start talking about what else bothers all of you instead of "it looks like Sin City this is gonna suck"

Posted by: SuperDude on April 12, 2008 at 08:58:11

Great comic book style to this movie. This movie could be one of the best of 2009. Frank Miller can do no wrong! But i can already see some of the ****ed up comments from people who never even read the spirit comic in there lifes insulting the look of the movie saying it looks like sin city 2. Dosent anything make people happy.

Posted by: IchabodCrane on April 12, 2008 at 11:31:33

I don´t know, I guess this is pretty obvious after all, but Sin City and 300 looked good mostly because they looked exactly like the comic books Frank Miller drew.
I´ve read the Spirit comics as I´m a great admiror of Will Eisner´s work and I can tell this doesen´t look like the comic. And I wanted this movie to look like the comic sooo bad...
I totally understand when people say this is something like "Sin City 2". I mean, this guy got the nerves to show the face of a character that Will Eisner never drew on the comics. He killed the mistery on Eisner´s creation just with that. That´s just incredibly arrogant from Frank Miller (who I believe is a great narrator but is very overrated as an artist) Said that, I know this is called an "Adaptation" for a reason, and that´s why I really hope this movie to be great, but so far is not what I expected. Please, please, pleaaaaaase FM, don´t screw this one up man!

I agree with both The Spirit and Ichabod Crane.

Ichabod is completely right about the look, but at the same time, quit your goddamn whining. Its a movie. About a comic. About a dead guy. With Samuel L. Jackson.

That's how good it will be.

DOES HE LOOK, LIKE, A *****?!

Posted by: Agustin Mojica on April 12, 2008 at 14:12:52

Anybody saying, "OH IT LOOKS LIKE THIS BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE A COMIC BOOK"...

The Spirit looked nothing like this. There really are many more connections to the Sin City film in these shots and the leaked footage than to anything Will Eisner drew. And read the latest blog on the official site. This is a total Frank Miller-ized, ultra-stylized/violent take on The Spirit. That isn't to say it won't be a fun, or even great film. But so far, all signs point in a direction far from anything Eisner envisioned for this character and his world.
