Julia Stiles Also Auditions for Spider-Man 4
November 17, 2009
UGO has learned that Julia Stiles has also auditioned for a role in Spider-Man 4. This follows the rumor that Rachel McAdams had auditioned (she said she didn't) and Romola Garai did put herself on tape for a role, but she believes she won't get the role.
The site doesn't know which role Stiles talked to a casting company in New York for. Reports say that these actresses are trying to land the Felicia Hardy/Black Cat role, but that hasn't officially been confirmed.
What we do know at this point is that Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and Dylan Baker are officially returning for the fourth film, scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2011.

I love Julia Stiles, but I'm rooting for Romola Garai.

Capt. Stacey: We are sorry, That one who did but than didn't kill your uncle, and Flint Mark who we thought did, but now didn't kill your Uncle. This cheerleader did...
-slides Peter a pic of Felicia Hardy wearing nothing but a towel-
Capt. Stacey: And for the sake of story...she's somehow my niece or Bernard the Butler's niece. You must figure that out too.

I am so very proud of all the actresses who auditioned for the role of Felicia Hardy/The Black Cat for the upcoming blockbuster Spider-Man 4. Good Luck to all of them.
As for Rachel McAdams: You will still be one of my bridesmaids (if or when I marry Tobey Maguire), no matter what.

eeeeeew! what is with Raimi and casting ugly girls to play beautiful characters?? I dont get it. But this is the same guy that cast Topher Grace for Venom, so i'm not really surprised here

Okay, seriously, what is with all this talk about cheesy-crappy-campy villains in the next Spider-Man film?
Actually, come to think of it, ALL of Spider-Man's villains, with the exception of a few are like that.
Well, I guess we should have seen it coming after they had Sandman (Seriously?!) in that last film. And let's not forget Topher Grace's Venom. *shudder*
I mean, seriously, when it comes to actual villains that are truly evil and who pose threat to Spider-Man and who can actually be translated well to screen, what's left? Nothing. Lizard? HAHAHA! Kraven? No, seriously, Spider-Man fighting a man that looks like Joseph Stalin. No thanks. Carnage? Yeah, that would be a waste of time and money. Hammerhead? Big HAHAHA! Rhino?! An even bigger HAHAHA! *wipes tears from eyes* Yeah, the Spider-Man franchise should go the way of the Batman franchise -- retire it and reboot it with a brand new creative team.
I've said it before and I will say it again -- If "Spider-Man 3" was the "Batman Forever" of the Spider-Man franchise, then "Spider-Man 4" will no doubt be the crappy, campy "Batman and Robin" of the franchise.
And seriously, don't even bring up Bernard the Butler. That dude could have played Green Goblin because his face literally looked like a Goblin's. And his ineptness and idiocy is what ended up straining Peter and Harry's relationship and scarred Harry.
Beranard, Black Cat and all the other crappy Spider-Man villains yet to be on screen can just stay put on the only medium that allows these pathetic characters to actually work -- the comic book page. Because some ideas work on paper, and some work on film. When it comes to Spider-Man, not everything that worked on paper works on film. The last film is PROOF of that.
And if "Spider-Man 4" is yet another love triangle between Peter and MJ and some other girl/guy then Raimi is devoid of any new ideas. So far things look good with Gary Ross scripting, but still, even with Alvin Sargent, they made that mess of a movie called "Spider-Man 3." Hell, Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman wrote "Batman and Robin."

Serioulsy, these Spider-Man films work like clockwork. In fact, this is probably how a scene in the next film will go if they plan on going down the same pathetic route again with these formulaic films.
INT. RESTAURANT - NIGHT
(Mary Jane arrives at Peter’s table. Peter pulls out her chair and they sit. Peter smiles like a constipated ninja turtle, and Mary Jane’s lips start to quiver. Yeah, seriously, we’ve never seen this scene before in a Spider-Man film *rolls eyes*)
MARY JANE: Peter, I want to talk.
PETER: About what, MJ?
MARY JANE: Us.
PETER: (sighs) What now?
MARY JANE: (startled) Why are you so irritated all of a sudden?!
PETER: Because we’ve been talking about our on-again-off-again relationship for the past several years in these crappy films!
MARY JANE: But this kind of sappy crap reminds the audience about how “relatable” we are to them.
PETER: (notices something) Oh no.
MARY JANE: What is it?
(FELICIA HARDY walks to Peter and MJ’s table. She stands by Peter.)
FELICIA: Peter! I… wow! This! Is! Such! A! Sur! Prise!
PETER: Oh, MJ, this is Felicia. Felicia, MJ.
FELICIA: (shakes MJ’s hand) Nice to meet you! Peter’s talked all about you during our tutoring sessions.
MARY JANE: Tutoring sessions?!
PETER: Uh… uh… It’s nothing, really…
FELICIA: Oh yeah, we have physics class together and I’m such a stupidly hot looking ditz. He teaches me things that the teacher can’t.
MARY JANE: (raises right eyebrow) And what exactly does he teach you?
PETER: Physics…
FELICIA: (laughs) More like PhysicAL fitness, if you know what I mean (wink).
(Mary Jane takes off her engagement ring and throws it at Peter)
MARY JANE: This relationship is over!
(Mary Jane runs off)
FELICIA: Gee, sorry, Peter, I didn’t mean to end your relationship.
PETER: (relaxes, puts hands behind head, lets out a smirk and a faint chuckle) Oh, don’t worry, Felicia. In two hours time, self-loathing, moping around, and one hostage situation and climactic battle later, she’ll be back with me again. (Peter turns and looks directly into the camera. Nods. Winks.)

Jesus Raimi must really believe there is only one generic formula to make a superhero movie. Love Triangle, plus tragic bad guy getting powers, dancing, crying and Maryjane getting captured.... then more crying.
These movies are lame and spider-man should be given back to Disney/Marvel to be done right. At least Disney can handle the CG which in the Sony Spider-mans looks just as crappy in the first as it did in the third.

Go ahead cry baby fan boys and cry some more. Oh Raimi isn't doing this right and this actress isn't right for that, and that actor isn't right for this. CRY CRY CRY & cry some more F*****G Pansies. GET A LIFE btw.

Oh God please no. Julia Stiles is hella ugly and an even worse actress than Kirsten Dunst. We already have a butt ugly Mary Jane but now we might possibly have a hideous Black Cat also? Damnit...just damnit.

Just googled Romola Garai. Beautiful and from her acting credits it looks like she could pull off the role pretty well. Would love to see her as Black Cat.

julia styles forehead will get in the way. talented actress though.

Do they really need another love-triangle? Raimi really is devoid of any ideas. There is NOTHING they could do to make a love triangle fresh and interesting in this one. They already have MJ, and the very under-used Gwen Stacy who will hopefully have a bigger role. But now Felicia? How're they going to develope three female characters? This is going down the exact same route that Spider-Man went down, and I beat it'll be just as ridiculously corny.

Anyone ever thought that they could be auditioning for Doc Conners wife not Black cat
Posted by: senorashish on November 17, 2009 at 19:22:17
@ Spideydomiantes
Doc Conners wife should be around the same age as he is -- about 40ish. These actresses are in their late twenties or so and they all look like teenage girls. So, no, you're theory doesn't really seem to have clout at the moment.

You fans don't know what is best for any franchise. You all just whine when something doesn't go your way. Deal with it. It can turn out to be good. It's not like any of you could do any better. Leave it to the professionals. They were the ones that got Spider-Man this far.

I think that Emmy Rossum would be a great Cat Woman. Almost reminiscient of Julie Newmar's catwoman
