A New Female Lead for Spider-Man 4?
Source:SuperHeroHype
November 9, 2009
Early last month, director Sam Raimi said that they were about to start casting for Spider-Man 4, but we have yet to hear any official announcements of new talent coming on board. We knew Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst were going to be back, and since then, Dylan Baker revealed that he'll return as Dr. Curt Connors.
Now, according to Mania, actresses are auditioning for the role of villain Felicia Hardy/Black Cat, and the site says that Rachel McAdams (upcoming Sherlock Holmes) is a frontrunner for the role. Mania adds that they are also casting for a male villain, which would mean we're looking at two villains for the fourth installment. None of this is confirmed, of course.
In the meantime, fans pointed us to The Observer where actress Romola Garai (Atonement) has a column in which she wrote the following:
"Love is at the root of everything good that has ever happened and will happen." This phrase swam into focus as I moved up the escalator at Oxford Circus tube on Tuesday morning on my way to put myself "on tape" for a part in Spider-Man 4. This is the acting equivalent of the London Marathon in that it's important to try your best as long as you understand that you aren't going to win.
Might she also be going for the Felicia Hardy role? We won't know for sure until we start hearing official casting news from Sony.
Spider-Man 4 is coming to theaters on May 5, 2011.

I dont think i could buy McAdams as Blackcat/ Felica Hardy. she's not sultry and sexy enough in my opinion. she's cute dont get me wrong, she just not what i would envision for that role

I wish they'd recast Mary Jane. Kirsten Dunst is so damn horrible. She couldn't be worse for that character if she tried. I could see McAdams as MJ.

So... does that mean no Gwen Stacy thrown into the mix? She's actually been the only one in Spider-Man movies that was easy on the eyes.

Lady Gaga should audition for the part. Then Raimi can get away with another musical number in the movie. Just Dance, Spidey...

yeah, that blonde chick has better boobs for the part than mcadams.

Ian
I totally agree Kirsten Dunst needs to go she was a poor choice to begin with and gets more annoying with each movie. Whoever gets the part of Black Cat is going to totally outshine Dunst but like that would be hard.

Hmm, maybe Rachel, but no. Eliza Dushku instead.

I'm not thrilled that the Black Cat might be in this. I think the Lizard/Kraven storyline is what most fans want to see. I don't see how Black Cat can fit into that. I hope Raimi listens to the fans.

Rachel McAdams would be a bad choice for Black Cat. Yvonne Strahovski from Chuck would be perrrrrrfect.

I agree with ken just do the lizard and kraven with a little MJ and Gwen Stacey.

Eliza Dushku has always been a choice of mine to play Black Cat, Rachel McAdams is not a good fit.
Totally Digging the idea of Gerard Butler as Kraven..that would be awesome casting

I don't think this is a good idea. my biggest fear is that black cat might get confused with catwoman by a lot of critics, and it'll draw a lot of negative reviews. i know they're two completely different characters, but you folks have to remember there's a difference between cult comic book popularity and main stream popularity. main stream means that anybody will know who the character is like spider-man, batman, superman, and such. whereas a cult character is someone that only a person that's really into comics will know like the green hornet or hawkeye for instance. anyway, that my only big fear about this as i know black cat is not a main stream character, so i know critics are going to label her as a rip off of catwoman right off the bat
