Spider-Man 4 to Start Filming March 2010
October 9, 2009
MTV talked to director Sam Raimi, who says he's hoping to start shooting Spider-Man 4 the first week of March 2010 for a May 5, 2011 release.
Raimi added that Gary Ross is doing a rewrite of the script using notes Raimi gave him, a production designer has started designing the sets and environments, and Scott Stokdyk is back on board on his fourth Spidey film as visual effects supervisor.
Raimi said that no casting has taken place--other than Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst--but that they are starting to think about that now.

I pretty excited to see how this film turns out! I want to see if Raimi learns from his mistakes or makes bigger ones! He seems like a really smart guy to me so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say he makes 4 way better than 3, not that that would be real hard.

No other casting has taken place? I thought J.K. Simmons was already confirmed to reprise his role as J.Jonah Jameson. And I could've sworn I saw something about James Cromwell (a.k.a. father of the nose-broke D-bag) playing Captain Stacy.
Curious....

I HOPE THEY GO WITH ONE VILLAIN, IT ALWAYS WORKS BETTER. THEY MESSED UP THE DARK KNIGHT TRYING TO BUT TWO FACE IN THERE I COULD GIVE A S@#T ABOUT HIM.
Posted by: Harlan on October 9, 2009 at 15:54:41
Why does the lizard have to be dark? Make him into Barney and have him annoy Spidey with singing and dancing.

I'd love to see Bruce Campbell as Mysterio!

Here's my guess as how they'll try to rectify killing off Venom in the last film and yet create a Venom spinoff.
It won't be the main villain, but a subplot villain will be JJJ hiring Max Gargan and the whole Scorpion suit thing. Spidey beats Gargan in Scorpion suit.
Spidey 4 or Venom we see the courts determine Gargan's not really evil so much as mislead. He's released either on parole or found not guilty.
Now in the Venom movie, we see the construction site where the big fight at the end of Spidey 3 took place. Gargan's working there. He finds some black goop which happens to be a piece of the symbiote that wasn't annhialated. It's recuperating, regrowing, re-whatever-ing. It bonds with Gargan.
It makes sense to me to save Carnage for the Venom movie, so I don't expect him in Spidey 4 or 5. Although I think it would be interesting for Spidey to at least cameo in Venom. I hope they tie it in and don't pull a Catwoman blunder and completely ignore Venom's history.

ARRRGGGHHH! I better be the villain in the movie!

After learning from my mistakes from spiderman 3, I decided that the next film will be the best in the series. First I will kill off Mary Jane in the beginning, then there will be some crying and whining from Peter Parker. Next a even more emotional villain like Sandman to be the bad guy. Spiderman comes in to fight the guy, but doesn't make jokes. period. For the next hour in a half will be full of whining, dancing, even singing. the final battle will be a great one, which includes spiderman and the villain crying together for no reason.

WHY DONT THEY BRING IN ICEMAN AND FIRESTAR AND DO HTIS 80'S CARTOON STYLE
Posted by: marc on October 9, 2009 at 16:21:30
i really don't know how this movie can be good. Venom was Spidey's ultimate foe. They f'd that up. how do you come back from that? by enlisting mysterio? electro? the lizard? those guys were all lame. no match for spidey what so ever. They need to go dark to salvage this franchise. with that said bring on Carnage. there still symbiote left in Dr. Conners office from spidey 3. they should use that in story line.

Uhh... can I play Shocker in the next Spiderman movie?

Is about time!!

why not a movie about Spiderman Unlimited? the cartoon was awesome although they cancelled it after 13 episodes
Posted by: Relaxed on October 9, 2009 at 16:25:53
@marc: For crying out loud. How did I miss that? Yeah, he becomes the lizard, accidentally trashes his own place in the transformation, and set sit free. Heck, they could even create the "red" version from an experiment he does on it rather than as the black suit reproducing. Or go the reproducing route. I don't care about that.
I still say since Max Gargan is Venom now, they should introduce Scorpion and then go that route with Venom. It would make sense seeing as how Eddie Brock has been vaporized.
