Dunst "Definitely On Board" Spider-Man 4
June 6, 2009
Everyone's getting in on the action trying to guess what to expect from Sam Raimi's return to the Marvel superhero franchise with Spider-Man 4, slated for release on May 6, 2011. It's obviously still very early in development, but that didn't stop the New York Post from asking Sony producer Todd Black a few questions in order to clear up some of the rumors that have been circulating.
In the article, Black confirms that Kirsten Dunst is definitely on board, but that there are no plans to have a wedding between Peter Parker and Mary Jane in the forthcoming movie. He also squashed the rumors that Morbius the Living Vampire will be the villain in the movie, but that the villain will be very New York centric.
This is what he told the Post about the potential villain: "We're just coming up with who the villain's going to be now. We'll be shooting in New York again. Trust me, people will appreciate who we pick, because it'll be a big part of New York."
So who do you think the villain may be? In the article, they speculate it could be either Kraven the Hunter or the Kingpin, although one should probably assume the latter is still owned by Fox as part of the "Daredevil" deal. Still, maybe it will be some sort of New York City mob/crime storyline in the next movie, and there are plenty of Spider-Man villains that fit the bill like Hammerhead and The Enforcers. Discuss it below.

Sorry for the double post but i would like to see Scorpion, Rhino, Shocker, Mysterio and Have Norman and Ock back to lead the team ( Nobody stays dead in comic) and then have Spidey team up with Black Cat to take them down make it a 2 parter in wich he gets his ass handed to him in the first one and you got yourself one hell of a movie. But thats not likely to happen

sinister 6 story would be nice...but doc ock is dead?

Hugo Weaving for Kraven the Hunter.
Liam Neeson is also an A-lister choice for Kraven.

The villain would be a villainous Statue of Liberty. Nobody will see it coming. This is going to be the greatest Spiderman movie since number 3!
Posted by: Mary Jane on June 6, 2009 at 10:11:24
That's just great. Now we can hear her complain about being in another Spiderman movie like she did in SM3. Please just let it be a very very very short cameo.

It's unfortunate that Dunst is getting another chance to kill these movies. She really was the worst part of Spiderman 3. 4 is too many. I just heard that boom is first. I cannot believe it! I'm sick of this bull ****, and I will soon be writing my congresswoman a strong- worded letter expressing my utter disappointment. ;)

haha i was just gonna say that! "big part of new york" maybe they'll animate the statue of liberty like in ghostbusters 2 but with negative symbiote energy hahah...anyways, kraven should be the villain IMHO, and dunst shouldn't be mary jane..

Bummer Morbius would have been a great choice as well as the Man Wolf Jamesesons son!!

hope the can work out some deal n get kingpin in the movie n then he can use people like rhino as his henchmen like he did with the sinister six

Probably Kingpin or The Lizard. The Lizard would make most sense for better fight scenes. I can see it now, TV says, "this just in, alligators have been seen in the sewers." Peter notices Dr Connors is very distracted and, what's that, mud on his shoes? Then at the Christmas ball someone will say something about mistletoe is deadly or something and they will be like, "do we start fighting?" and they do.

It's good to know that something is starting up, can't wait for a villian to get on board

Bruce "THE MAN" Campbell for either Kraven or Mysterio. Also, it's about time Dr. Conners becomes the Lizerd. Give Dunst a few Big Mac's, make her less needy/whiny and you have my 12 bucks (35 for the blue ray).

Doc Ock may seem to have died at the end of SM2 but listen to Sam on the commentary he implies other wise

I'm not saying I WANT this...but to think a little outside the box, Raimi COULD put Hydroman in the mix. We all know how much he must LOVE elemental stuff to insist on putting Sandman in the last one. He could be a "big part of NY" by living in the Hudson, etc. I know it's a bit farfetched, and I don't want it, but with these movie companies, if they give a hint that seems to be pointing in one direction, I normally try to see what they could be meaning that ISN'T the obvious choice.

Moribius would have been cool...except for the fact that they would have toned him down way too much to keep the movie "kid friendly". Kinda like what they did in the cartoon series. I think Morbius would be better suited in a stand alone R rated movie. Or as a supporting character (I won't say villain because I've never really seen him as a villain) in any eventual Blade sequel.

I never thought of them, but the Enforcers would be pretty cool.

The villian will be a big part of New York?
I know who the villian will be!
Hipsters!!! They gentrification of Brooklyn succeeds and they focus their attention on the remaining 4 Boroughs. It's up to Spidey to stop their leader Hipstor in a showdown in renovated Williamsburg.

Have The Lizard finally and I agree, give Dunst a bunch of Whoppers and get her back to looking the way she did in the first film with those tig ol bitties.....
Posted by: Rodrigo on June 6, 2009 at 10:31:09
Benicio Del Toro would of made a fine Morbius. Robbie Coltrane as Kingpin and Gerard Butler as Kraven. Diora Baird as Black Cat.
Posted by: Bobert on June 6, 2009 at 10:31:48
It has to be The Lizard with Kraven joining in on the hunt.
I always liked Dunst. I just hope she gets in shape for the film and doesn't phone it in.

Dunst isn't bad at all. Her singing wasn't nearly as bad as Tobey Maguire's dancing. Really why do guys not like her? Is it because they don't think she's as hot as someone like Megan Fox? Because Dunst certainly can act way better than Megan Fox but you don't hear people complain about her. Instead people want Meagan Fox to play roles like Tomb Raider and Wonder Woman. Dunst did no wrong to Mary Jane.
