Don't Expect Elizabeth Banks Back as Betty Brant

Would Elizabeth Banks return as Betty Brant in a fourth and/or fifth "Spider-Man" movie? It doesn't sound like it, as she tells CHUD:

"If it's that small, I probably won't do it. They don't need Betty Brant. It's purely, at this point - and I don't think they see it this way - it's kind of a favor at this point."

She talks more about how she landed the role at the link above!

I say work her in. I like all of her scenes, and I don't see any reason she couldn't become a more prominent character.

There's the "Harry gap" to fill, anyway. Gwen and/or Betty might be good for that.

she needs to be worked in more with J. K. Simmons, J.K. definitely needs more lines, but those two together work great. The bestthing about spider-man 3 was JJ and Betty's back and forth with the pills.

well how much "bigger" can you make her part, if anything, robbie's part should be bigger, he's more well known than betty brant. that's a dime a dozen part anyway.

I would love to see her as Lois lane in the Superman reboot! I think she could portray the character how its supposed to be, if there is anything that smallville got right(at least last time a watched a couple of years ago) was Lois Lane.As far Spider Man goes Raimi messed up the whole franchise with part 3 and killed the posibilities of everybodies favorite anti- hero/villain,venom, making a return and being portrayed right.I'm not looking forward to this at all.

I think people have more or less had it with Kirsten, and they burned the Gwen Stacy bridge (which could have had great potential). The Betty Brant thing might have been nice since u know they'll always incorporate some romantic (sub)plot.

Sigh.

Not a big move not to have her (Banks), but maybe not a smart one.

That last movie sure did use up alot of goodwill. Hard to go into the next one with an open mind with a sleepwalking Toby, a skanked out, whining Kirsten and an inattentive Raimi.

@tonamania.. I agree with your final paragraph completely.. Tobey is a total turn off as Peter.. so many better actors out there.. (Emile Hirche, Trevor Wright for example)

she will be missed, she should have been the interaction with JJ that Ted Raimi's annoying butt kisser took screen time away from.

she is fabulous and I like an actor who isn't so ego driven that she shys away from bit roles. Check out the Heights if you want to see her ability to act.

she is wise to get the stench of Spiderman 3 off of her ;-)

It probably reads a bit sassier than the way she said it, but the meaning is intact. I'm not sure why she wouldn't do sam raimi a 'favor,' since the role IS small. If she weren't in the films (4 and 5) I think some people might wonder where jj's foil is, the secretary who stands up to him, but otherwise, as she says, I'm not sure she's vital to the film mythos.

really they could replace her with just about any lookalike and have whatever actress imitate her lines in the same style. It wouldnt be that hard and 99% of viewers wouldnt even notice...
