Sam Raimi Talks Spider-Man Sequels
October 16, 2008
MTV caught up with "Spider-Man" franchise director Sam Raimi, who talked a bit about Kirsten Dunst's return (he doesn't know if she'll be written into the script), possibly filming two movies at the same time, and a possible villain for the fourth film. Here's a clip:
Now things are about to get hard yet again for Raimi, as he's making plans to continue the cinematic tale of Peter Parker. "I'm really excited about Spider-Man, and I'm hoping to direct it," he cautioned. "I don't have a script yet, but production would start probably by March of 2010, I'm guessing. It sounds like a long time away, but we need a script first, and a lot of pre-production has to take place."

No Dunst is a good thing, shes a creative kill in the movie. She has wanted her char. to die in the last 2 movies to give her a dramatic out of the series. Just write her out and lets forget about a poorly done Mary Jane. And lets hope they do a cross-over with a cameo like they have done with Ironman and Hulk.

Man I hope its not as stuffed chock full of crap as the last one was. They coulda skipped the Sandman altogether and had more time for Venom to screw with Spideys life. OH yeah and one more thing can we see Lizard in the next movie already enough fore play

There needs to be more "CARNAGE" in this one.
Posted by: Hey Elwood on October 16, 2008 at 15:39:04
They really need to continue the Venom storyline. Spiderman's biggest foe needs more then 20 minutes in a pictures. The lizard is a good villian but I don't think he could hold up an entire movie...let alone 2.

ARE THEY GOING TO START TO TIE IN THESE MOVIES WITH THE REST OF THE MARVEL CHARACTERS? LETS GET THIS THING ROLLING ALL THE WAY TO THE AVENGERS

I actually wouldn't mind a movie without MJ.
Posted by: Film Ninja on October 16, 2008 at 15:41:57
keep kirsten dunst out of it or replace her. She's the fugliest actress around.
Posted by: Leo Jussila on October 16, 2008 at 15:42:02
@JONATHAN LOVE
nah, wont be happening.
Different studios owns the rights.
Anyways, i don't want to se MJ killed, i don't care if she is replaced with some other actor, cause hey, it's MJ good damnit.
Although, I've always liked Gwen more :]
So kill off MJ, and let him hook up with Gwen, that would also give Venom a reason to be mad :D

I'm sorry but both 2 and 3 sucked ****. I cannot agree more about Dunst not coming back being a good thing (she looks like a foot). If they make any new material like the first one then it will be great. Sam Raimi is a good director but he has had the problem of only casting ugly chicks in what are supposed to be hot roles ( Dallas Howard as GWEN STACY WHAT THE FU*K???) That is all....

please no kirsten dunst, she made such a horrible mary jane!! raimy's take on mary jane was flawed to begin with, since mj is supposed to be a supermodel and an actress, meaning they need to cast someone who can fill that spot, not kirsten dunst. geeze and no more the villain dies at the end crap, please
Posted by: HappyPalooza on October 16, 2008 at 15:45:10
I was hoping MJ would be killed off in the last and replaced with Gwen, but no dice. :(
Maybe this time, is what I was saying.
Also no tie-ins, Sony owns Spidey's film rights.

2010!!! That is a long time. How old will Tobey maguire be by then? When the hell is he going to start working on ROBOTECH?
Posted by: Johnathan Doe on October 16, 2008 at 15:45:42
In this age of recasts why not just drop Dunst and have someone else play MJW. Preferably someone who won't go on the talk show circuit whining about making another SM movie.

2010? I though...Well, I thought it might be filmed BY 2010...

PLEASE GIVE IT TO SOMEBODY ELSE. WE CAN'T HANDLE ANYMORE SCREWED UP SPIDEY FILMS. 1 WAS OK AND THAT'S ABOUT IT. NO DUNST! NO MAGUIRE! AND DEFINITELY NO TOPHER!

i just pray the next Spidey movie doesnt suck, regardless of whos in it
im very excited about James Vanderbilt writing the script. Zodiac was such an incredible film. sooooooooo underrated
they need a fresh perspective on these characters and Vanderbilt is talented to do that
the one thing i want out of the cast is MORE ENTHUSIASM ! watching them do press for Spidey 3 was so goddamn depressing...
Posted by: Ezco on October 16, 2008 at 15:48:59
killing off Gwen and a return of Green Goblin or Venom - Carnage saga would be amazing, Im tired of this bubbly kids stuff. Spider-Man needs to be darker, hopefully the new writer (the guy who wrote Saw 1-5) will give the character and the storyline some balls, true danger, and heart ache. Spider-Man wouldnt be the hero we love is he doesnt go through some REAL tough times, and why aint flash thomson in the movies? he's spider-man's best friend for sakes

I really have no respect for Kirsten "Dunce" anymore. I've loved Tobey as Spiderman, and I tolerated Dunst as MJ, but she has no regard for the Spidey fans. She doesn't give a ****. Who knows why she keeps ending up returning. But if she didn't want to stick with it, she shouldn't have signed on in the first place. Don't sign on to a comic book movie if you're not passionate about it, because these movies have a big impact on a huge group of people.
Ugh. I just can't stand her now. I'll be happier if she isn't written into the script.

I'm not really a fan of any of the SM movies. There has just been too much camp and pointless non funny scenes and characters injected into the movies for no reason. For example, the elevator scene in SM 2. What was the point? The annoying Russian neighbors. They serve no point to further the narrative. I was hoping that Peter would end up with the Russian neighbor than with Mary Jane. She was likable. She likes Peter alot yet still encourages him to call Mary Jane in the third film. Very honorable and a hell of alot more likable than MJ. That is a big narrative mistake on Raimi's and the script's part. The fact that the whole story culminates in the third movies is a disappointment. By the third movie, no one is voting for either one of the main characters to get together. They are both mental midgets who throughout the whole series failed to grow. They could never express their feeling properly to one another and could never put the other ahead of their own personal problems. Selfish. The audience will never feel sympathy for the characters and once again a failure of the script and direction. Well I have vented enough. Any thoughts about my statement? Thanks.
