Kirsten Dunst "in" for Spider-Man 4
September 29, 2008
The recent revelation that Sony Pictures is looking to shoot Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5 at the same time didn't reveal whether Kirsten Dunst would rejoin director Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire for the films.
Now, Dunst has told MTV that she'll be back as Mary Jane Watson:
"I'm in," said the actress matter of factly. However, when pressed to make the announcement official, Dunst quickly changed her tone, and rather cryptically added, "I'm not saying anything, I know there's rumors..."
The studio is targeting a May 2011 release for the fourth pic.

Yes because if it weren't for her, SM3 would have been a masterpiece. ._.

i do agree with ya Melies. to be honest she isnt much of a Marry Jane to me. girl had class in the comics and she had way more red hair ya kno. idk she was ok in the first but after that ... just couldnt convince myselfe she was a marry jane character. what do you think on the matter? dont get me wrong she is one hell of an actress but still.

Give it a chance guys. 4 AND 5 is a bit of a stretch, but the spider man flicks have always been one of the better super hero movies. I'm sure Raimi will be able to bring it back to its former greatness.

yeah people spidey 1 and 2 were grea why are you guys making it out like spidey 3 was the plague it wasn't even in top 20 of worst super hero movie dunt is much better than the likes of alba/holmes/ she is'nt exactly megan fox you know when it comes to acting she is decent

You guys should have better faith in Raimi. He did afterall direct Spiderman 1 and 2. 3 Failed from the script, not the direction. The direction was just like the first 2, the problem was he had to work it with a crappy script.

ya kno what would really kill the movie... is if they had their girl (peter and marry jane) and they ended it with her as spider-girl...

The magic was venom but raimi killed it by only seeing him in like 10 minutes of a 2 1/2 hour long Spider Man 3 AKA "THE PETER PARKER AND MARY JANE MOVIE featuring a small role of spider man, sandman, and a very very small role venom"

I AM SUPERBATSPIDERIRONICEHAWKMAN....YOU GET THE P
dude you couldnt have chosen a bigger name?? and i agree with ya on that. venom was like the only good thing they had going in that movie but destroyed it. spidey three was a complete pity me soap opera

guys, they've learned the tough lesson of SM3. 4 & 5 are gonna be great!

Ken sits back and waits...(thinks to himself) can Raimi redeem the butchered franchise? Spiderman 3 ruined a lot of expectation for me. Topher Grace as Eddie Brock was a total miscast, as well as the handling of the look of Venom. Overkill on villians. Costume for GG 2 was horrid. Venom should have been saved for the last one. They knew they were making more and were teasing us with Dr. Connors (aka the Lizard). ARRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please kill her off! Use Musterio or Electro!

hey mabye that will be the next or if they really think about this... there maybe no spidey four and five. now i would totaly love to see them redeem themselves... but lets be honest here. who here really thinks they can do it. i have some hope but after three ... kinda broke it. the best spidey is the the 90's cartoon remember those. god they were awesome!!! but lets get backt to this. who cant they have as the villian and will they focous more on spidey than they did in last film. the lizard would be great actualy fantastic and i can think of a great story of how to do it. but will they totaly blow it with mysterio ... a guy with a fish bowl over his head... dissions dissions...

2011 release means Sam will be taking his time and delivering the Spiderman you, the fans, want. So stop *****ing and lets be excited for a power boost of the franchise.

Oh god.
Hack director. (am I the only one in the world that has noticed ALL his movies are remakes of another, not including ED1 and SM1????)
Hack lead actor. (How many times to I have to see him cry and run with a closeup of his straining face!?)
Ugly lead actress. (baby teeth+more)

Let's kill off Kirsten already? Who's with me??
Posted by: Brand-O on September 30, 2008 at 01:10:44
I don't blame Sam entirely for Spidey 3. His original plan was to use Vulture and Sandman. If anybody's to blame, it's Avi Arad for butting in and forcing Venom on Sam, knowing that Sam had never planned to use him. Arad was the catalyst in the case of the third film, sacrificing good story in the name of the dollar.
But on the topic of Kirsten, I hope the role is minimal. Bring in Gwen Stacy as a more primary love interest to make things more interesting, and a climatic battle that DOES NOT revolve around the kidnapping of Mary Jane.

Posted by: Matthew J on September 30, 2008 at 01:11:28
At least they didnt recast her. I hate it when they do that.
why did they have to kill venom
oh yea thats right they have to kill a villan off every movie (gg, doc o, venom!!!!!, and the green snowboarder if you want to count him)
good luck living past the writers lizard your going to need it
