Spider-Man 4 Targeted for May 2011

June 21, 2008

The Los Angeles Times reports that "Spider-Man" franchise producer Laura Ziskin said the fourth installment is tentatively scheduled to hit theaters in May 2011.

Already scheduled for the month of May that year are Marvel's own The First Avenger: Captain America on the 6th and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II.

Ziskin added that the screenplay is not finished yet, but that she and Sony Pictures were hopeful Spider-Man 4 could be ready in three years' time.

Neither star Tobey Maguire nor director Sam Raimi is yet committed to work on the next installment, but Sony has paid Marvel to renew its rights.

lets do it!!!!

Posted by: comichero88 on June 21, 2008 at 03:21:16

But PLEASE give us some new villians! because Spider-Man only has like 7,468 of them. and we have only seen three.

p.s. don't mess it up like they did with Venom!

Posted by: JKD on June 21, 2008 at 03:27:48

PLEASE DO NOT LET RAIMI OR TOBEY ANYWHERE NEAR SPIDER-MAN EVER AGAIN!! WE NEED A TOTAL REBOOT AND NEW CAST!!

Posted by: X-Kid on June 21, 2008 at 03:31:28

YES! just hope they stay faithfull to what Sam Raimi and co. have created, and that the original cast/director return.

Posted by: Rahuel Massey on June 21, 2008 at 03:35:15

Yeah, like other people are saying I want it to be faithful towardsd the last 3. I hope Tobey comes back and everyone else.

Posted by: Deck Officer on June 21, 2008 at 03:37:04

Bring back everyone. I hate it when movie series start up with all new casts again. I just hate that.

Posted by: reek on June 21, 2008 at 03:42:28

Bring on Bruce Campbell as Mysterio! Spidey should bust him up in a mini-adventure at the beginning of the movie, like the beginning of most of the bond flicks.

MARVEL IS GONNA RULE THE YEAR 2011!!!.........Of Course unless the Justice league makes a great movie LOL!!!

Posted by: Cyrrus1 on June 21, 2008 at 04:03:15

thats coo that they are working on a 4th installment.... i hope they get in to the kraven the hunter saga and include the lizard

Posted by: IronManDan on June 21, 2008 at 04:04:59

please film 4 & 5 at the same time... make a truly epic story that breaks from the already tired "meet new villain, new villain runs amok, new villain is defeated" formula.

So they're really gonna make it huh. When I think back, I remember the first time watching Spiderman 1, and remembering how amazing that movie was from start to finish. And Spiderman 2 is possibly the best superhero movies ever (perhaps second to Batman Begins, and up there with Superman 1 and 2, classics). The action sequenses were incredible. Then I remember how hyped I was for spiderman 3, and I mean HYPED. i remember the intense advertizements and everything, the nyc filmings (i live in ny) and Spiderman Week in NY. then the movie came out... ohhh how hopeful i was. the movie started out so great, the first battle with sandman, so great but soo short... and then after that.. it just got wierd.. and sour.. harry's amnesia, then reverse amnesia, tobey's dancing, little black suit action.. too much of tobey crying, sandman killed who?.. peter parker forgives him?.. the two kids!? "wow"... "wicked cool".. the default copy-paste american flag out of no where in spiderman's background.. too. much. cheesyness. i hope they really do a revamp, with fresh and young new faces/cast, just like they did with The Incredible Hulk, which stayed faithful to the character and somewhat to the previous film and television show. Sam Raimi, you did an EXCELLENT job with Spiderman's 1 and 2, but i think it wouldn't be bad if someone new takes up this responsibility for "The Amazing Spiderman". P.S. Whatever you do Sony, KEEP THE ACTOR THAT PLAYS J.J. Jameson and everyone in the Daily Bugle intact.

so, after three horrbile movies, we get anotehr one. like, who still cares? spider-man 1 was bad, nothing like spider-man at all. spider-man 2 was better, but still not what one would call spider-man, and spider-man 3 could have been good, if they would have cut all those dancing scenes and emo crap and instead... you know... have a story in there...

so wahts next, emo-man vs the sinister six, that are actually five, told in a seven issue mini series? oh.. no... wait... that was something else...

1. Bring back the same cast and Sam Raimi. People didn't start hating on this entire franchise until the last film, which is silly, by the way. I'm sure folks will go from loving "Iron Man" like now to hating the whole franchise by the third installment.

2. Have the franchise jump ahead a few years. Peter should be in his 30s to coincide with Tobey's real age.

3. Avi Arad, do not corrupt Raimi's plans and try to force in characters just because of the fanboy whining, that's what screwed "Spider-Man 3" up.

4. A climatic battle THAT DOESN'T REVOLVE AROUND THE KIDNAPPING OF MARY JANE.

5. Lizard as the villain; he's been set up already.

Posted by: Spider on June 21, 2008 at 04:08:06

Spidey and Cap toe to toe? Now this will be exciting! On the pages of comic books, Cap will beat Spidey to a pulp. On the box office, who knows? Spidey might win if Raimi learned his lesson and make it right this time, like he did Spider-Man 2.

All in all, we're the real winner here. Spider-Man and Captain America movies in the same month? Nothing could be better!

JKD and Spike are morons, 'nuff said.

Man...

Guess we really do live in a disposable society. One slip up and we're willing to just toss everything away. Some of you guys are just too much. When the first Spidey came out, everyone hailed Raimi a hero. I even heard a guy on the first day of its release call Raimi a "god." And when the guy shows his humanity by doing what we all do...make a mistake...A bunch of so-called "fans" are ready to kick him to the curb. And I've gotta tell you, as far as mistakes go, his mistake earned Sony almost 900 million dollars worldwide. I wish I made those kinds of mistakes. Wish I made them every day.

I'm not saying Raimi is the only one who can direct a Spider-Man movie. There are a lot of directors who'd do an admirable job. But do give the guy his due. He only created a franchise that's made over a billion dollars worldwide. And no, money does not equal a good film, but it does mean that a heck of a lot of people enjoyed what he created, flaws and all.

REBOOT!!!!

Spider-Man 3 messed up....everything!

Posted by: M0V!E M@N!@C on June 21, 2008 at 04:21:52

Spider-Man 4-5 should make up for the third by either doing a sinister six or carnage/venom story. If they do get venom back someone else should play him not Topher Grace.

Posted by: MScribble on June 21, 2008 at 04:32:27

What's wrong with you people? Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, and James Franco are BY FAR 3 of the WORST actors in Hollywood. Sam Raimi is a low budget genius, but a Big Budget HACK. Its an insult to Marvel for anyone to compare these people to the REAL Actors and Director who did Iron Man. Go back and watch the first Spider-man again. Compare it to any high quality film today. It doesn't hold up. You were blinded by expectations, and the pure astonishment that finally a Marvel Super Hero like Spidey was coming to the big screen.

In reality, the Spider-man Franchise is one step above the Fantastic Four, which isn't saying much. Unless you want another crapper on your hands, Sony should follow the example of the Incredible Hulk and Punisher: War Zone. New cast, new director, real script, real story... and if the finished product is good, everyone--including the brain washed retards who say they NEED the same crappy actors to come back--will be grateful.

They should do a venom/carnage suck my left nut storyline. THAT would be exciting.

Posted by: Bo Sawx on June 21, 2008 at 04:42:11

I'm tenatively excited to hear this news. Big Spidey fan and loved the first 2 movies. Marvel needs to do a slight reboot with this franchise and get back to intriguing storylines, not just "Let's see how much visual effects we can throw at people before they puke." Personally, I'd like to see something based around the Maximum Carnage saga. And for pete's sake (no pun intended) find someone else to play Brock. I like Topher, but not in Eddie's shoes. Here's hopin'....

Posted by: Bo Sawx on June 21, 2008 at 04:45:09

Another idea...use Black Cat. Have some conflict with Peter between the two women. He can have the safe, loving relationship he has with MJ or he can live as Spidey and fall under the seduction of Black Cat. Just an idea.

Posted by: Polonium222 on June 21, 2008 at 05:12:17

Hey thats good news, i think Raimi and all the others should keep up the good work. I don't see whats wrong with any of the spiderman movies so far. If anybody expect the movies to be the same as the comicbooks they will always get disapointet, it cannot be done. But there is som great material to be used so thay should make spiderman 4+5

And now that they are at it start Xmen4+5 and more origins movies, more hulk, more FF, more punisher, more elekra, more daredevil, more ghost rider.
