Rosario Dawson Talks Sin City 2

Fans have been eagerly waiting quite some time for the sequel to Sin City and at the press day for Rosario Dawson's new indie drama, Explicit Ills, the vivacious actress opened up a little about the progress on Sin City 2. She also talked to us more about "O.C.T" (Occult Crimes Taskforce) and a possible film adaptation of the comic.

Q: Jamie King said she's read the "Sin City 2" script. Have you?
Rosario Dawson: No, I have not. She's working with Frank [Miller] to possibly produce something together. I just talked to Frank about it though and said he finished it a couple of months ago so I'm really excited to get it going. Supposedly it's going to happen in 2009.

Q: Did he tell you anything specifically about the script?
Dawson: I get to wear a mask in this one. Is that specific enough?

Q: Where you would like to see your character go in the next film?
Dawson: Gail? I think Gail is pretty much Gail. What you see is what you get. I don't think she's going to be poppin' out any babies and singing any songs or anything like that. What's actually really fun about it is that we get to investigate it a little bit more into the storyline that was actually in "Sin City 2" - that middle chapter which is where Gail mostly was. Investigate a little more as to who is this man and what are they talking about when he's got a different face.

Q: What's going on with your comic book?
Dawson: O.C.T.? We're in the process of ascertaining the rights back from Dimension [and] taking it possibly someplace else.

Q: But what about actually the series?
Dawson: Oh the book. We have a miniseries that we wrote over a year ago that we're still getting things done. Our artist does all the art from cover to cover. It's not something we're obviously getting paid to do. It's a real love passion kind of project. I think we're going to have a preview book that we're going to put out at San Diego Comic-Con and that will have some stuff from the miniseries. Eventually we'll be hopefully be able to put that out by next year.

Q: Would you ever like to make a movie based on your comic book?
Dawson: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. We're developing it. We had it with Dimension and we're starting to see about it taking it someplace else. We've got writers that we really like and it's about greenlighting a picture. The more you all talk about it the more possible that will be so help me out a little bit.

keep frank miller away. You had to be high in order to enjoy The Spirit.

Posted by: Duke Of Pico on March 5, 2009 at 00:44:01

Well I was high when I saw the Spirit, and I didn't enjoy it!

Jamie King and Frank Miller are working to possibly produce something together?? Thats funny! It really sums up whats happening with Frank Miller as of late! I can just see it now, "Jamie King as Martha Washington"!

sorry to say but i think Sin city 2 is dead in the water :(

Sin City 2 would be nice to see, but I think I'm more excited about the possibility of O.C.T. being made into a movie. Rosario Dawson is awesome anyway, so I'd probably see whatever she was in, regardless.

Lois Lane? Rosario Dawson shouldn't play ****. i can't stand her and she looks like an horse-face

Some points of interest:
-Yes Rosario Dawson is hot. But everyone is entitled to their opinion.
-Sin City 2 can work just as long as Rodriguez is on board.
-Frank Miller is out of his prime, out of touch. In actuality he's worked on 3-4 books which are critically accepted (DKR, Batman Y:1, his stint on Daredevil and Wolverine, and Sincity) all other books were just flip flops (some people liked them some didn't(of which I fall into)). As of late it really seems like he's out of touch (but I think that that can be attributed to age; Your ideals/thoughts/feelings change over time).....ex. Metalica.

Anyways those are my thoughts; not yours.

looking forward to Sin City 2 and more sequels to follow. I have the first film on DVD and the entire movie is Ohhhhh!!! Sooooo hurt me sexy. Jamie King, Rosario Dawson, Devon Aoki, Brittany Murphy and Alexis Bledel were all sexy ladies. Josh Hartnett, Clive Owen, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Powers Boothe and Nick Stahl were all good as well. I didn't want to forget Jessica Alba she was come here sexy. I heard that Rose McGowen is going to be in the Sin City sequel as someone. Did any of you hear about Rose McGowen starring, in the second Sin City film.

Captainhulk probably thinks lemon-sucking lady Renee Zellwegger is hot. Well, different strokes and all that...

Ahhh! Uber-hot Boricua Diva Rosario Dawson. She is a rare specimen indeed. A BEAUTIFUL Hollywood starlet, with a BRAIN. Oh! And she can act too (check her out in "7 Pounds"). She was also kick-ass awesome in "Grindhouse" ("Death proof"). I wish she would get a starring role in a MARVEL film, as an ass-kicking agent in a SHIELD movie or even as Jane Foster, if they don't get Anne Hathaway. She would probably be the best choice for DC's VIXEN and I can definitely see her as HARLEY QUINN, but a Justice League movie seems to be really distant and who knows what the Nolans have planned. Although I BET that one of the villains in TDK's sequel will be female, and probably not Catwoman.

I would also be FAR more excited about an "O.C.T" (Occult Crimes Taskforce) movie, than a Sin City sequel. Right now, I'm looking forward to see Kate Beckingsale in "WHITEOUT". I think that movies based on INDIE and non superhero comic books is where it's at. They would serve as a nice counter-balance to the GLUT of uneven superhero flicks. I mean for every "The Dark Knight" or "Iron Man" there seems to be 3 mediocre to terrible flicks (take your pick between "Hancock", "Ghost Rider", "Elektra" or "Batman and Robin"). I've said it before, and I'll say it again, HOLLYWOOD should check out current and past titles like WALKING DEAD, VOODOO INK, CRY FOR DAWN, SMALL GODS, RASL, BONE, CEREBUS, MAGE: THE HERO DISCOVERED, MAUS, and even DC's CAMELOT 3,000. Any one of these are chock full of exciting new worlds to visit and potential box office power.

Oh! I almost forgot Frank Miller's RONIN.

Batzarro: Have you seen what Lois Lane looks like?

Posted by: Batzarro: http://bestgeekeverpr.blogspot.com/ on March 5, 2009 at 13:45:56

Got you all thinking, huh? Yeah I know where you're coming from. But I think it would be genious casting. She does have the range for it.

Really, how long have they talked about Sin City 2? Is there even anything in the works?

Posted by: SaeoS on March 5, 2009 at 16:03:23

Seriously, Rosario looks nothing like Lois Lane that would be horrible casting, that like casting danny devito as the flash.

Posted by: Vance Astro on March 5, 2009 at 22:31:10

She's the most gorgeous actress in Hollywood. I'd love to see OCT made into a film, so long as she helps write the script. Too bad it didn't last as a comic, and her NBC sci-fi show got squashed and turned into some sort of webisode crap.

Posted by: jay on March 6, 2009 at 10:32:31

don't see what all the fuss is with rosario dawson. gorgeous...i wouldn't go so far as to say that. and as lois lane....HELL NO!!

don't get me wrong, she's pretty and can act ( i thought she was great in Death Proof) but to suggest that she be lois lane? that's insanity. It kills me how some people pick apart a movie to its very core, but are ok with such a ridiculous casting suggestion.

Posted by: Victory on March 6, 2009 at 11:34:16

Rosario Dawson as Lana Lang. LOL. Danny DeVito as The Flash, that would be as ridiculous as casting Seth Rogen as the Green Hornet or Jack Black as Green Lantern... Wait a minute.

Robin Williams as The Riddler...

Posted by: Cool McCool on March 6, 2009 at 11:42:45

"don't see what all the fuss is with rosario dawson." What? Change your glasses dude. I bet Jay thought french poodle faced Maggie Gyllenhaal was hot. Ugh!

ROSARIO is smart, SEXY, beautiful and can act. I LOVE U SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Batzarro: http://bestgeekeverpr.blogspot.com/ on March 6, 2009 at 12:42:09

Now,now, kids. When I fan cast, I look for more than jaw size and color.

Robin William would have been a cool Riddler, before he became old.
