MTV talked to David Goyer about what we can expect for Ghost Rider 2 , which he says is "not exactly a reboot," picks up eight years after the first film, and is targeting a 2010 shoot.

"I hate to say it's more realistic, because he's got a flaming skull for a head, but it's a bit more stripped down and darker," Goyer added. "It's definitely changing tone. What 'Casino Royale' was to the Bond movies, hopefully this will be to 'Ghost Rider.'"

Marvel Entertainment has reported its 3rd Quarter results which show a 60% drop in earnings on lower film revenue, though 2010 is looking healthier for the company.

Marvel's Chairman, Morton Handel, commented, "Despite the absence of any Marvel Studios feature film releases in 2009, Marvel continued to deliver solid operating performance across all our operating segments.
Who is Leaving Heroes This Season?

There's been a lot of rumors that a lead character would be leaving "Heroes" this season, and now it's been confirmed who that is. If you don't want to know who, then turn back now!

Still here? Here we go...

TV Guide has confirmed that Adrian Pasdar, who has played Nathan Petrelli since the beginning, has been let go from the NBC show.

At the end of Season 3, Nathan's throat was slit by Sylar, but Pasdar remained in the cast because the supervillain was forced to take on the guise and memories of the elder Petrelli brother. The last time we saw the "new" Nathan, he had been shot by a hit man and unceremoniously buried.

Bet you didn't see THAT coming, laddies and lassies!

But this is one of several big surprises planned for next year and you'll hear a bit more about this in February when we start to release details. What is it? Who is it about? Well, that's all a secret for now, but I learned a lot from Kick-Ass and love having the same creative freedom I have with comics when I work in cinema. I never want to be a studio bitch and go in there pitching for them to love me. The closest I came to this was a couple of calls regarding Superman, but pretty much...

Martin Campbell Talks Green Lantern Effects

Green Lantern director Martin Campbell ( Casino Royale , GoldenEye ) told Empire magazine (via Coventry Telegraph ) they've got their work cut out in bringing the comic book to life.

"It's daunting," he said. "Just the process, something like 1,300 visual effects shots, it's mind-blowing, quite honestly."

Campbell said that a lot of the effects shots work will concentrate on the Green Lantern's power ring. "It's energized by a battery on the planet of Oa, which taps into the willpower of everyone in the universe. From that ring you can form constructs. So if you got into a fight, you could form a giant fist. Or a fighter plane."

Stephen L'Heureux on Sin City 2 , Hard Boiled

Comics2Film at Mania.com got a chance to talk to producer Stephen L'Heureux about Sin City 2 and Hard Boiled .

L'Heureux told the site that the Sin City sequel will go into production in the second half of 2010. The sequel will be based on an original script by Frank Miller, who will again co-directed with Robert Rodriguez.

The producer added that Miller is working on the screenplay for Hard Boiled , based on his and Geof Darrow's comic about an insurance investigator-turned-cyborg assassin. Miller is attached to direct the adaptation.

Because Sin City 2 will take up Miller's time for a while, Hard Boiled could take a while to hit theaters. "There's also talk, of course, of 'Sin City 3'," he said.

Smallville Execs Pushing for Season 10

Will we be seeing a 10th season of The CW's "Smallville"? Executive producer Kelly Souders tells Entertainment Weekly that the team behind the production hopes so.

"We are really, really pushing for season 10," Souders said, adding, "I think the word still isn't out there that we're on Friday nights. So if people keep tuning in and telling their friends about it, I think [a 10th season] is quite likely."

And will we ever get a glimpse of Clark in his iconic blue, red and yellow suit? "We think 'Smallville' from the get-go was about how a young man turns into Superman. And it's really about the journey getting there. I can't make any promises, but if it was ever going to happen, it would be at the very end," said Souders.

First Look at Hiro and Charlie on the Next Heroes

NBC sent us this photo of Masi Oka and Jayma Mays as Hiro and Charlie, respectively, in next Monday's episode of "Heroes."

Oka said this about the episode: "This was one of my favorite episodes of the series. I had the opportunity to explore the many layers of Hiro. It was truly wonderful working with Jayma again and I even got to play against a younger me. Ah, how naive we were. It's an episode full of joy and tears. It's Hiro's Company Man and our homage to episode 8 in season 1. This scene is where Hiro finally gets his long awaited kiss. His dream upon the thousand cranes, the origami in his left hand, came true. But is there a happy ending? It's 'Heroes' after all. I hope you enjoy watching the episode as much as I had making it.
Mastodon Talks Jonah Hex Score

Atlanta metal band Mastodon talked to Paste magazine about writing the score for the comic book adaptation Jonah Hex , opening in theaters on June 18, 2010. Here's a clip:

Historically, Mastodon’s been classified mostly within the metal and prog spectrusm, but Crack the Skye saw the band stretch out its sound. The Jonah Hex score, however, could contain the most expansive Mastodon material to date. “Some of it was heavy, some of it was very moody,” Sanders said. “A lot of it was spacey, Melvins B-sides, Pink Floyd-like, surreal outer space, like Neil Young’s Dead Man. Swirling, nausea music.”

Dylan Baker Confirms Spider-Man 4 Return

Ever since Dylan Baker first appeared in Spider-Man 2 as Empire State University professor Dr. Curt Connors, people have been buzzing about whether we might ever see him turn into Spider-Man's scaliest foe The Lizard. Unfortunately, we don't have the answer to that question just yet, but UGO had people at the Walter Reade screening of Michael Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat last night where actor Dylan Baker confirmed he would be returning as Connors for Spider-Man 4 , when asked about it during a post-screening Q & A. He didn't go into details about how big or small his role might be in the fourth installment, although it seemed like it would be another "background" part, rather than The Lizard taking center stage as the next Spider-Man villain.
