December 2, 2008

Lionsgate has launched an new interactive comic book for Punisher: War Zone that uses video and text to build up the background story of The Punisher. The comic features chapters and the final one ends as a teaser to the actual film. You can check it out at PunisherWarZonemovie.com/Legacy!

Opening Friday, December 5, Punisher: War Zone was directed by Lexi Alexander and stars Ray Stevenson, Dominic West, Doug Hutchinson, Colin Salmon, Wayne Knight, Dash Mihok and Julie Benz.

In the film, ruthless vigilante-hero Frank Castle wages his one-man war on the world of organized crime and sets his sights on overeager mob boss Billy Russoti. After Russoti is left horribly disfigured by Castle, he sets out for vengeance under his new alias: Jigsaw. With the "Punisher Task Force" hot on his trail and the FBI unable to take Jigsaw in, Frank must stand up to the formidable army that Jigsaw has recruited before more of his evil deeds go unpunished.

I like it.Mayhap(to use one of Thor`s words) The Punisher will finally be given a movie that
feels faithful to the source material and still satifying to The Punisher-fans as well as to the population of moviegoers that aren`t really comic book fans.Looks good.

I want this movie to be cool... and I will go see it in theatres. However, i think Jigsaw looks terrible.

Glowing review just posted from Devin Faraci over at CHUD. Basically this is dumb, gore-filled, action-packed movie. Sounds GREAT.

he has the guns,

but he hasnt the real guns

show some biceps and pecs

punisher is supose to be batman in steroids and without any money, well he has money but
he spends all of it in guns

i dont know why they change the origin from the punisher in the last movie, put him in miami, and create a new villain in travolta,

now the story is right but i saw the uncensored trailer and all the heads blowing off, looks like a cheap movie from the 80s
and i havent seen his arms

i have an idea

lets make the anorexic league of super heroes and villains

leadin the way topher grace as venom, the guy who played ice man, and the other who play piro, dont forget magneto in the xmen films,

want to do a comic hero movie,
you better have the body of christian bale, tomas james or rebeca romin (can you say mistique!!!), haley berry, hugh jackman, brandon routh, even ben affleck in daredevil, jenifer garner (with bigger bazokas), the guy that did fantastic four (human torch)

this freaking awesome. I never doubted this movie for a seceond

Very nice has a Sin City feel some where along the lines some ideas I ahve put fourth are appearing well done Lexi.

The website should be the DVD extras for the DVD this would be a great DVD to have, by the way slight snag once artwork has been downloaded no link to go back??

Great movie score well done to the man whom this was possible, Dennis Dreith will be proud. If this movie does well as I hope hopefully Punisher 2 with either the King-Pin or another Mob Boss from the marvel universe.

Bigger Budget get the Battle van i.e. the designer of the Tumbler and a state of the art new H.Q, and lets not forget product merchandising

ya see thats a good review, someone who looks at the fun of the movie rather than the story or the acting. He seems familiar with the comics and i feel like im gonna agree with him when i see it. I cant wait man. Stevenson is sick and Jigsaw, while cheezy,is gonna be great to see in live action. Cant wait!

@ Old fan from the 80's.

True, the Punisher has mostly been portrayed as Mr Hardbody, but mistakenly so. He's a soldier, and look at real life soldiers, they're in shape but none of them look like Mr. Universe. Not to mention they tried to pick an actor who looks like the Max series version of Frank Castle, in which he is practically a senior citizen and has been doing his Punisher thing for over 30 years. He was in Viet Nam after all, do the math.

I think for any potential sequel they should have Barracuda as the villain, just to give the series a little more humor while still remaining hardcore, from the reviews PWZ sounds bleak, still sounds awesome, but bleak.
Kingpin would be good too but I think Marvel's probably holding onto him for any potential Daredevil sequel/reboot.

@ Gammabob:

I agree with you on Barracuda, especially considering that Nicky Cavella is an agent in Punisher: WZ.

Lemme ask you something: did Paul Budiansky appear in any Punisher comics/stories before Ennis' "Widowmaker"? I noticed that his character is in this film as well.

Posted by: GammaBob on December 4, 2008 at 14:01:45

@ katmore9

Pretty sure he was just in Widowmaker, I could be wrong though. I have pretty much every Punisher comic released from the Circle of Blood series in the 80's and on, but I recently just reread only some of the key archs from the 80's, 90's and Ennis's Marvel Knights run, and the whole Max series. Just to get myself keyed up and in the right mindframe for seeing this movie. As far as the Max series and the archs I just reread he's only in Widowmaker, he might be in some older stuff but I don't remember him, I'd have to go back and reread every Punisher comic I have but I don't have a year to spare right now, lol.

I tried to google him but can't seem to find any info aside from the movie.
