So who else thinks that IM2 will beat TDK at the box office?
Make mine Marvel.

Posted by: darkness_grad06 on September 30, 2009 at 11:41:22

I think Iron Man 2 has a good chance of beating TDK

Posted by: darkness_grad06 on September 30, 2009 at 11:42:25

Not that I want that to happen though cuz I loved TDK but I loved Iron Man as well

Posted by: PhanBoy on September 30, 2009 at 11:48:03

Goddamn why does it always come back to TDK i love both films and am a bigger fan of Marvel but TDK did so well because it was like a cop drama with super heroes so this brought all of the people out of the woodwork who dont watch Comic films. I think at most it will bring in around 600 mill

Posted by: Mrpaul on September 30, 2009 at 12:05:30

Here we go with comparisons

@ meso soup

@ Darkness_grad06

It will be very difficult to beat TDK, though I believe the Marvel Universe is 10 times as interesting as the DC universe. TDK had 1 thing going for it Ledgers death right after or before filming was complete, the publicity build up was rediculous. I've watched TDK 7 times and it's a good movie, but the # 2 grossing movie of all time....sorry. If Mickey Rourke takes the big dirt nap prior to the movie or RDJ(not wishing for either to happen)it has a shot to beat it. I've made the arguement, without Heath Ledger dying, TDK likely would have done better than "Batman Begins" but not by $300,000,000.

@ phanboy
THANK YOU!! i agree with you...everyone always brings it back to a battle between TDK and whatever movie...DC vs Marvel like we're in gradeschool. geez.

anyway i am more of a DC fan...batman specifically...
but i think ironman 2 will be amazing!! Loved the first one.

ps...mz paltrow and mz johansson...HOTT

@ meso soup
Just give the movie its due when it comes out, everything doesn't need to be compared to TDK.

@ my two cents
Thank you!!

@His Cousin Vinny
I agree with you!! I also think that TDK did as well as it did because of the death of Heath Ledger. Everyone wanted to see his last performance.

I think it will be a nice action movie tastefully done!! I can't wait, but I guess we all have no choice.

I'm sure IM2 will be a great hit at the box office, and hope it will beat TDK so stop with this stupid comparision, the only one thing to this happen for sure is the same fact that gave TDK his relevance... the death of one of the cast, just that, and I'm non whishing something like that, but that's the best thing that could have happened to Mr. Nolan and his overrated movie, and I'm not a DC hater, I just see things clearly

Posted by: BAM on September 30, 2009 at 13:02:34

You guys complain that everything comes back to TDK, but that's because TDK was the most successful super hero film thus far. Note, I'm not saying it was the 'best', because I find it rather impossible to compare some of these to one another being that they are often so different... But you can't argue it is the most successful - money-wise. So it's only natural that upcoming superhero films will be compared to TDK. No point in complaining about it.

Hey, When is the Champions movie coming out starring: Shawn Ashmore, Ben Foster, Scarlett Johansson, Nick Cage, and Kevin Sorbo?

Posted by: Firsters are douches on September 30, 2009 at 13:33:16

Just sayin'. Don't be hatin' 'cause it's true.

Posted by: TDK fanboiis are douches on September 30, 2009 at 13:34:11

Just sayin'. Cuz it's so so so so so true.

Posted by: BARNEYSTINSON on September 30, 2009 at 13:35:22

TDK isn't ledgers last performance though, was he not in one that isn't out yet? so though his death proabably did have something to do with it it wasn't because it was his last performance

Posted by: Joshua Devraj on September 30, 2009 at 13:40:27

Iron Man 2 will come close to The Dark Knight,in terms of box-office performance but it will not beat it and here's why....It's Batman....Iron Man is not an established star like Batman....Batman is the King Of Superheroes.....But there is one thing that I can guarantee you folks.....Iron Man 2 will do extremely well....not many people knew about Iron Man but it still made $500 million world-wide....look at transformers 2....it was full of crap, save for the visual effects and it was a big box-office star.....Iron Man 2 is gonna be awesome!

Posted by: nelson on September 30, 2009 at 13:42:05

iron man 2 doesn't have a high chance of beating TDK at the box office, though it isn't impossible. I'd say it will out-do it's predecessor though since the first one received a lot of acclaim...i'd say it will land somewhere in the $400 million club?

Posted by: all2easy on September 30, 2009 at 13:42:08

I'm really excited for this movie, but beating out TDK? Little to no chance. And people who claim otherwise just don't understand the film industry.

Posted by: Eldarion on September 30, 2009 at 14:09:56

Why is everyone comparing TDK with Iron Man 2? I thought for comic fans quality matters the most. I rather have a great Iron Man 2 that makes 300 million than a crappy one making 850 million (like Revenge Of The Fallen). If it's a great movie, people will watch it and it will perform well on the Boxoffice. Saying it would beat TDK is unrealistic, do you really see Iron Man 2 as one of the 5 films that crossed the 1.000.000.000 dollar worldwide? Of course i want it to do great so we can get many more Marvel movies, but money is not what counts.

Posted by: Justice on September 30, 2009 at 14:15:20

I didnt want to jummp into the comparisons, but all2easy is right. When you put Christopher Nolan side by side with Jon Favreau, there really is no comparison.
I have no doubt in my mind this will make alot of money and will be greatly entertaining. Will it be seamless, realistic, grounded, masterful, artistic, dark, and epic? Only time will tell.

That is truly cool and both of them are great actress and also their are truly hot sexy babe as well and ironman 2 will be big hit in 2010.

Posted by: Fanboiii on September 30, 2009 at 15:23:14

i prefer these lovely ladies much more than someone like megan fox.

can't wait for iron man 2. it's been a while since we got a good superhero movie.

Posted by: HappyPalooza on September 30, 2009 at 15:50:28

Johannson seems like she'd be fun to hang out with. Paltrow seems like she'd be fun to punch in the head.

Don't get me wrong, real good actress, just comes off as egotistical (and pretty spacey I gotta say).
