Iron Man 2 to Come at You in 3D?
September 2, 2009
Ain't It Cool News is reporting the rumor that Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios are considering releasing Iron Man 2 in 3D format, and possibly the first Iron Man as well. Here's an except from the article:
Right now, there is a 1 minute demo of IRON MAN 2 converted to high quality digital 3D. I'm told this one minute is totally like Kim Basinger & Mickey Rourke in 9 1/2 WEEKS. HOT! Crazy Hot! Right now the Suits at Marvel & Paramount & now also Disney are considering this 1 minute.
At the same time that this is happening, they are fishing for bids with 3 different companies to see what the cost and time it would take to convert IRON MAN 2 to a complete 3D film. This same process is being done to Tim Burton's ALICE IN WONDERLAND - but if this comes to pass. What will this mean for the rest of Marvel's slate leading to THE AVENGERS? Will THOR & CAPTAIN AMERICA also go through this process? Or will they be shot from the get go in 3D.
Iron Man 2 hits theaters on May 7, 2010.

There are hardly any theaters in my country that offer 3D capabilities. It's a waste of time for me.

Everyones got their panties in a twist about disney buying up marvel. I think the CEO that took over after that DOUCH eisner was outed has the right idea. He patched thingz up with pixar but new his place and kept his nose out of the properties and his hand in the cookie jar where it belongs. Little things like making the movie 3D compatible are smart ways for disney to capitalize on marvel without messing around with content.

Oh, like I'm NOT going to see the movie IF it's only in 2D?...Just make it Kick-ass, I don't care if his shield comes flying out over my head!

Please, no! 3D movies are a nice little novelty every once in awhile, but I DONT want to have to wear those STUPID GLASSES (Let alone have to but a new pair) every time a new Marvel movie comes out!
It's more of a distraction than it's worth!

this movie needs a "reboot".

God's Tom: [...]but I DONT want to have to wear those STUPID GLASSES[...]
Mr. Vain or what? These glasses don't disturb after wearing them a minute. And you are free to watch it in 2D.
Of all these sticklers...

Isn't Ackles that plum from that Smallville 'stones' arc? ...I suppose there had to be at least one thing F'd in this film.

if that's true this will be the first and probably the best full-length movie i have ever seen in 3-D.
=)

Have both options available (3D and non) ONLY if the cost and DUE research suggests it's worthwhile - no thoughtless band-wagoning please.
...it would be kinda cool though in a way ...in my opinion.

I really dont care whether its 3-D or not
Posted by: Harish on September 2, 2009 at 05:50:11
Oh yeah, and if it happens then make it absolutely high quality 3D throughout the film please.

enough of this 3-D stuff, wearing the 3-D glasses makes me sleepy and have more of a chance of falling asleep than enjoying the film
Posted by: Harish on September 2, 2009 at 05:59:00
Then watch it in 2D

oh god. really 3D? come on all 3D is gonna do for ironman fans us give us a freaaking headache. you know what if they really wanted to get our attentin they shoulda shot the whole thing in imax and added a bigger budget for both the fx and the screenwriting so they could hire the best of the best to write this thing and give us some super-badass bad ass fx that would be as detailed as imax is like get every single minute scratch without it looking like ****t because of the imax. but i guess cost is key right? lmfao - even so in all seriousness it looks like a good flick, i'm looking forward to it!!!!!!!!!!! viva la ironman!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't remember the last time I watched a 3D film. It doesn't really bother me anyway. I would pay to see Iron Man in 3D though.
I also highly doubt that after only a few days of Disney of owning Marvel that Disney was the one who came up with the idea for it to go 3D. If they did a one minute 3D clip would not be available. It takes time for that stuff to happen.

"& now also Disney are considering this" uh oh....but besides that SPPPPPPPPOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with God's tom... Just bring it and quite trying to over-produce movies. Concentrate on writing a good script. Adding more bells and whistles to a movie doesn't make it better. Assemble the right crew and don't settle for anything less than great!

Eh... 3D. Not really interested. It's nice to see a resurfacing of 3D in the past few years, but for something like Iron Man 2, I just want y movie. No gimmicks.

Yes..However, you have to go out and rent Supernatural. He plays Dean Winchester, and he is 10 times better on that show(he's a very good actor) then he ever was on Smallville. I don't know if I see him as Captain America, but I could definitely see him as The Flash.

Just four words:
Scarlett Johansson in 3D!!
Seriously... if this is the way Disney is going to affect Marvel movies, I'm OK with this, just don't mess up with the plot/acting/directing. Too much asking for??
Even so, Marvel/Disney... "Tengo miedo"
