First Look at Mickey Rourke as Whiplash!

Paramount Pictures has provided us with a first look at Mickey Rourke as villain Whiplash at the Monaco Historic Grand Prix in director Jon Favreau's Iron Man 2, opening in theaters on May 7, 2010. Rourke stars with Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Favreau, Sam Rockwell, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Garry Shandling, John Slattery, Kate Mara and Clark Gregg in the sequel.
Whiplash sports a power pack on his chest that looks similar to the one used by Iron Man. "The technologies are definitely related, and that's part of the core theme of the film," says Favreau.
The character's alter ego, Ivan Vanko, is a Russian who, Favreau says, "has constructed his own version of a suit." Among the creative alterations: a pair of whips, powered by the suit's glowing chest piece. Whiplash "is going to light them up," says Rourke.

this looks stupid.
i'd have RATHER had Crimson Dynamo, hell even Living Laser or Madam Masque.
this looks like Mechanical S&M Guy.

I wouldn't knock this outta the park yet guys. Iron Man had to start off with a suit that was rough around the edges when he had limited resources, this is kind of the same deal. And there is the whole involvement with Justin Hammer. Maybe Hammer will hook him up with something a bit flasher :P Even though it wasn't the whole awesome supervillain shot I was expected I do think this looks pretty cool. Guy's like a freaking Gladiator!

There's more to the suit right? I mean, that not the whole thing is it? Please?

I'm sorry, am I supposed to be impressed by that? It looks... boring. Boring as hell. Btw, the last character this reminds me of is Whiplash

I'm with GK1, I'm not impressed with this image.
It looks like he's a gladiator, on a NASCAR racetrack.
I hope by the end of the movie he's donned in the Crimson Dynamo suit.

GK1, saying that he looks like a mechanical S&M guy...? It's safe to say that that's one of the aspects that the costume designers were aiming for, and is what many people were expecting. When the comic character used the name "Whiplash" instead of "Blacklash," what is probably his most well known costume is very much S&M-themed.
Honestly, when it was announced that Whiplash was going to be a villain, I knew that they wouldn't adhere 100% to ANY of his costumes from the comics (full-on S&M guy with leather zipper mask, cape and collar with green ponytail, having extra robotic whipping arms, etc), but what I was expecting was something very similar to what we've got here. It's more grounded than any of his comic costumes, but it maintains the same feeling in his appearance that lets IM fans know that "hey, that's Whiplash!"

Looks good. Iron Man 1 was awesome. Part 2 will be even better.
Transformers 2 looks very good. Better than the first. But the transformer toys are to complicated. When I was a kid, transformers were so easy to transform. I bought my nephew a transformer and it's like what the? They actually give you directions on how to transform them. That's probably the one bad thing about transformers.

This is just the frame of the suite, parts will be installed later

I hate being the guy the calls some people on he message board stupid, but you have to be stupid if you think that Favreau let the first picture of Whiplash be the fully armored, kick-ass version.
This is clearly just a preliminary. My guess is that Hammer will check him out and be like "Hey, you hate Tony Stark, I hate Tony Stark, so let me give you some badass armor with tech based on your basic design and I will pay you to kill him."
Of course, what do I know?
