Jackson Signs Nine-Picture Deal to Play Nick Fury!
February 25, 2009
Samuel L. Jackson has buried the hatchet with Marvel Entertainment, making a deal to play the role of Nick Fury in Iron Man 2, and potentially many other films.
Jackson's deal is a long-term commitment to play Fury, the leader of the espionage unit S.H.I.E.L.D. His deal contains an option to play the character in nine future Marvel superhero films, efforts that are expected to include The First Avenger: Captain America, Thor, The Avengers, toplining a possible S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, and potential sequels.
Jackson introduced Fury in the closing moments of Iron Man, when the character asked Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark to join his group.

AWESOME!!
This is one piece of casting I did not want changing. The character was designed after him for christsake! It just wouldn't be right any other way.

Good Work Marvel.
Would have been just ever so slightly lame had you not got him back.

Phew, that's a relief. I was worried we weren't going to get Sammie J as Fury.

HELL YES!!! Imagine how disappointing it would've been if they had had to resort to going with someone else after having already used Jackson in Iron Man--or better yet, don't.
As far as I'm concerned, Jackson makes every movie he's in better (whether they were good or not in the first place is another story...)

Talk about job security! O_O I wonder if this applies to a straight up Nick Fury movie, and if so will it encompass his time as a WW2 sergeant, or just a modern day agent of SHIELD?

Now everyone can stop whining about Marvel low-balling actors. THANK YOU Samuel L. Jackson!

Thank god! What with all the casting troubles over Iron Man 2, I was afraid they would omit Fury from future Avengers-related films or, worse, cast someone else. It'll be great to have a common character that spans all these films. It'll give non-comic reading viewers a feel of the shared-universe aspect of reading various comics.

its not overkill johnny. look how long his screen time was in ironman. just because they signed him for 9 doesnt mean he will appear in 9. they just have him locked in now so they dont have to have the negotiating mess they had a few months ago

I Co- sign everything said @ BOB

@Darkseid
Exactly the point I wanted to make. He may only be in some for a moment, but now they have him locked.
