Robert Downey Jr. on Iron Man Sequels

Iron Man and Tropic Thunder star Robert Downey Jr. visited "Live with Regis and Kelly" this morning to promote the latter, but he was asked by Regis Philbin about Iron Man 2.

Downey Jr. would only confirm that it is happening and said he thought they would end up making a trilogy of it. He did, however, hint that he was willing to make more films beyond a trilogy!

Downey Jr. will soon start filming the Guy Ritchie-directed Sherlock Holmes and will then shoot Iron Man 2 for an April 30, 2010 release.

Hopefully the next Iron man movie will continue the nice Spiderman/X-Men trend of continuing ideas/b-characters from the original movie onto the sequels. I'd appreciate if somehow Obidiah Stane still had some kind of long lasting presence in the sequel, and Yinsen was too.

I hope they take their time and do it right. I'd rather wait 'till 2011 to see a good Iron Man 2 rather than 2010 for "crapified" version.

Could be interesting IF what we,ve heard is true, that after Ironman 2 theres a couple of films, ie Thor, cap etc, then the Avengers? will the 3rd one happen AFTER the Avengers movie?

Seriously, I don't like Iron Man so much, but he is the only reason why I should wait for the sequel. I love RDJ!

i don't know,2010...it seems a little early to me.i hope we will see an even better film than the first but they should take their time and do it properly.2011 seems more realistic.i hope evything turns great for our shellhead.

It would be cool to have Downey Jr. in an Iron Man trilogy and at least one Avengers movie. That would make four Stark movies with him. Maybe he's even up for an Avengers sequel, he seems to really like the charakter.

can't wait for ironman 2 give us a real villian like ultron. maybe jarvis downloads his a.i. into a ironman suit and thats how ultron comes to be.any thoughts on that

off the subject but i have to get the word of mouth moving. please give us x-men 4 movie involving iceman,angel,and colossus.generation-x with chamber,and husk.special class with beak,angel salvador,basilisk,glob herman more,prosimian,orb weaver,rockslide,anole,mamomax,squidboy,omega red,sauron,and john sublime my favorite human villain who tries to steal mutants powers for himself leaving them dead,also a cool movie would be bishops district-x.can't wait for first class hope we see the sentinels,stryker,and john sublime,also waiting for magneto movie involving sinister,and apocalypse. just keep them coming.spread the word

I'm very pleased to see how much he loves this character, he was fantastic as Tony Stark and I can't wait for IM2 and any other sequels he wants to do, as long as he's able and willing and the franchise can stay fresh and profitable I say go for it.

I don't think the Thor film is going to happen.. I think Marvel knows that they can't make a realistic film with JUST Thor, but I do believe that he will be in an Avengers film if one is made...

Matthew Vaughn, the director attached to Thor, has dropped out of the project. No casting announcements have been made. No new director has been attached. No script yet.

I think well see IM2 in 2010, Captain America in 2011, and the Avengers in 2012.. Thor will probably make a cameo appearance in IM2, and then as a main character of Avengers...

Yeah, Lionsgate is really dropping the ball in almost all areas lately. They released Midnight Meat Train to dollar theatres only, and now this? Granted, I heard MMT was pretty bad, but that just seems like such lack of confidence.

Should they release Punisher: War Zone as PG-13, I'm sure we'll see an unrated DVD soon thereafter, but we shouldn't have to settle for PG-13 to see it on the big screen.

I guess if it's not Saw XVIII, Lionsgate doesn't give a crap.
