As was previously-announced, Iron Man is hitting DVD and Blu-ray on September 30th, and now Paramount Home Entertainment has provided us with the full details and cover:
Delivering non-stop action and excitement from a Super Hero who boasts not only unique powers, but also irresistible charm, penetrating intelligence and a wry wit, Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures' worldwide box office sensation IRON MAN soars onto DVD and Blu-ray on September 30, 2008. Kicking off the fourth quarter, Paramount Home Entertainment presents spectacular Ultimate Edition two-disc sets on both DVD and Blu-ray, as well as in a single-disc DVD. IRON MAN thrilled both critics and audiences around the world with its captivating story and stunning visual effects. Was kinda hoping for a commentary. Also, does anyone hate it that Blue Ray gets better extras than people who have supported regular DVD for years?

Anyone else sick of blu-ray getting more features than normal DVDs? I sure am.

Woops, didn't see that. guess we both agree on that then.

Can't wait til this one hits the shelves. The 2 disc one is the one I'll be getting. That 6 part featurette sounds cool.

the technology isnt available to do some bluray special features on regular dvd players
Posted by: Batman's Cowl on August 8, 2008 at 02:37:32
The tech is easily available for those features to be on regular DVDs. They might have to downgrade a little bit, but it's doable.

None of those Blu-Ray extras mean didley squat to me. So they can eat it.
What I'm concerned about are the extras for Incredible Hulk. The DVD better have those hours of cut footage.

This a must for my collection! Blu-ray...here I come!
Jon Favare did state he would provide us with a great DVD!

I hope Indiana Jones has some decent features.

oh baby *drooling* imma get the Blu-ray version just for that "Hall of Armor" feature!
Posted by: gotmine on August 8, 2008 at 02:41:05
you see thats exactly the reason why they do things like that to make people want to go out and purchase a bluray player so in my opinion either learn to appreciate your dvd or go out an purchase your bluray, doesn't matter to me cuz i got my own bluray player so im excited
Posted by: FireFly's Enigma on August 8, 2008 at 02:41:51
Jon Favreau...is what I meant.
Posted by: Batman's Cowl on August 8, 2008 at 02:45:28
Well, I only really care about behind the scenes stuff, but I hate it when it says "BEHIND THE SCENES" and it's just the director or whatever sitting in front of a greenscreen talking about the movie.
Posted by: Andrew on August 8, 2008 at 02:46:13
no offense to the first posters but bluray is a new technology, companies are going to hype it to try and break people in, which includes exclusive special features. if you're using an old format (DVD), you miss out on next generation stuff, thats the way the industry AND technology has always worked. people with vhs didn't get special features at all when dvd came out. deal..
Posted by: Andrew on August 8, 2008 at 02:46:56
also it seems most of the bluray stuff is stupid anyways. the best stuff is on both formats
Posted by: Batman's Cowl on August 8, 2008 at 02:50:38
Look at the LOTR extended editions. Those were great DVDs with good extra features, and they didn't need Blue Ray to hype it.

Wuz up? Great site you got me on. TY!

Uhh... Blu-ray gets some exclusive extras because DVD can't support them. Gosh, I hope the transition to Blu-ray doesn't take too long. Just a few more years hopefully and it will be the standard.

Meh, Blu Ray is over rated. I don't care about the whole 3D whatsit extras. I'm more interested in watching the movie than playing around with extras.
Posted by: Andrew on August 8, 2008 at 02:55:47
ok but LOTR extended editions came out BEFORE bluray. i dont understand the point. one of the biggest selling points of DVD from VHS was the addition of special features. the same thing is happening now with bluray as companies want people to transition away from dvd.
Posted by: zach on August 8, 2008 at 02:56:38
Anyone sick of blu ray getting better extras? NO? REALLY? I guess you should get me for paying more. That does make sense.
Posted by: Andrew on August 8, 2008 at 02:57:31
also dont get me wrong i support dvd over bluray, but i realize that since its trying to be the new standard **** will come out on it thats not available on regular dvd
